Wheel alignment recommendations in Wellington
twisted replied to bekker's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
There's a guy up the top of Taranaki st. Dave Tunley I think. Worked wonders on my Legacy after Tonys messed it up. -
DO WANT! Same colour as my 540 and all!! If only i had 8k spare :'( Good luck with the sale man

Thanks! I have sorted one through HellBM though. APT: Yup, thats the exact error i had... Slowly getting the car sorted though!

What I really hate is the amount of times i've jumped out of my subie, and some tool comes up to me and goes, "ohhhh bro, do you race that in the hutt??, my uncles brothers son has a mean as wrx, it smokes everything, but its impounded now blah blah" No m***erf**ker. I'm the guy calling the cops. My mate had a boyfriend that had a bone stock primera, and he was constantly going on about how he was going to turbo it, coilover it, etc, etc. Munter cant even hold down a job, nor can he even turn a spanner properly. The tool over torqued a nut when 'installing' his 'mean as' $50 trademe strut brace and snapped the stud. When i pointed out to him why it snapped, he was all like ohhh nah! Tool.

Veilside = Rice. that monstrosity of a 'show' civic proves it. The fluro green hand painted accord, with chrome hubcaps, cutties in front and what looked like lift springs in the back, the most hideous body adornments i have ever seen and 'altezzas' that i saw in newtown yestrday pwns even the primer green civic on page 1.

Ugly? Naaah. I Reckon the aeromax is unique and quirky, sure. But its totally badass in the kind of way that ONLY a morgan can be. Mmmm.

Agreed. That Interior is the sex.

Yup. I have exceptionally bad luck with MAFs/AFMs. Had to replace the one on my legacy too, $600 for a common as muck jappa! Even worse is i'm not 100% sure thats the problem. What i do know though, is that when the mechanic was doing the intake seals, he said there was a code stored that the maf was not getting enough air. Initially i put that down to the absolutely filthy air filter that was in the car when i bought it, which has now been replaced. Mostly, the car runs great now, except a slight miss at idle and very slight backfiring on trailing throttle when cold, or in 'S' mode. This goes away when i unplug the Maf, so I'm 90% sure the Maf is the cause. I've tried CRC afm cleaner, to no avail. Might just have to bite the bullet and get a new one. Will see what comes up in the next week or so.

As per title. Want to avoid buying new at this stage. Cheers Sam 027 3271086

Got the call from mike. Front seal is gone on the intake manifold, as is the CCV (same as PCV?) + seal. I figure that even though the CCV can be done without taking off the inlet manifold, i Might as well have the manifold-cylinder seals replaced also. I'd rather that, than have to get more work done on the intake 6 months/10k down the track. Right front engine mount is broken, which explains the vibrations when cold i've been getting over the last day. I suspect this has been stressed from the sheer shaking when idling cold. Fingers crossed that the air leaks are the root cause of the idle/backfiring/popping issues, and that I don't also have fueling and/or compression issues. On the upside, it appears that a number of bushes have been replaced in the front end recently, as have the front brakes. Hopefully from here its just a matter of shocks/springs/rear brakes and some minor cosmetic issues to get this car back up to scratch.

At least weekly for both the 540 and the Legacy. The truck gets a waterblast whenever it sees Mud. I find that if start letting a car get dirty and stay dirty (particuarly on the inside) then normally that car has lost its x-factor for me and its time to leet it go and get something new.

Yep. Mikes a good bloke and lots of knowlege! The car is getting some love from him On wedensday. Best i guess = good mix of availability/quality and price.

It's Fjordblau. Looks stunning in the twilight hours.

Awesome, Thanks for that. Headrests are now FIXED! Who's the best supplier for BMW parts? I'm going to go and have a chat with mike page (local BMW tech) on monday, but it would be good to have input on these matters from you guys. Cheers Sam

Ohh, cheers for that. I'm well aware of the 'shimmy' issues, and the first thing i checked on this was the control arms, which look almost new. I've now made a mental note to check hubs on potential wheels!

Perhaps a slight exaggeration, however for age and price bracket it's extremely tidy. Very few external blemishes and again, very few interior blemishes. Aside from headrests, all electrics work flawlessly. Leather is perfect, as is wood. For sub 4k, it was an absolute bargain. No. I was interested in the AKL 530/540 conversion but this came up locally for less, and had the sunroof, which is important

Nice buy there Gareth! I've just come over from the dark side too. When i got my 540, the plan was to keep the legacy as she's gotten a lot of love from me over the last year. But after driving the 540 for a day, I was totally hooked! I'll be passing the legacy on to someone deserving when i find the time.

As the title says... been wanting one of these for ages, so finally bought one on tuesday. 1994 540ia NZ New 215km Grey Leather package Service History LSD ASC Centre silencer delete K&N Pod, CAI in progress. Amber to clear/opaque light update kit ordered. The Bad: Rough Idle when cold, occasional intake back firing while decelerating in S mode/or when cold. I Suspect Intake manifold gaskets have deteriorated causing lean conditions when cold/pushing it . Headrests wont go up or down. motors run, but no movement. This is a must fix as one is low, and one is high. I'm ocd about headrest symmetry Broken front lip. Drivers side 'scoop' is broken off and in the boot. I'll try to repair, but am on the lookout for a replacement. Desperately needs a Drop + Dish. Currently contemplating 18" style 32 replicas. staggered. Cheers Sam

To give you an Idea, Just bought a '94, with 214 clicks, super super tidy. In need of Intake manifold gaskets, and the electrical headrests don't go up and down. KIts also got a FSH up to 150k, with anecdotal evidence regular servicing has been carried out since. NZ New Paid in the sub 4k bracket. Yep, needs wheels/tyres and a drop.

mines a '94 NZ Car with switchable ASC. At first i thought it was a single spinner. until i laid down two big black lines!
-
Dunno about turbo applications, but this is why you would want them on a V8: Mmmmm.

To Suit E34. Am open to all options before looking at new wheels. Cheers Sam
