Crank angle sensor? My 540 did exactly this and threw no codes. Investigation with multimeter proved it to be the Crank angle sensor. -

Yeah, I'd say its worth 12-11k, Provided (as simon mentioned) that perishable items such as bushes, Intake manifold seals etc, etc are ok. Because if they're not, then its going to be an expensive car. Mine for example i paid slightly less than $4k for it, but have spent $3k on it since, and to be completely happy with it I still need to spend another $4k or so. And it still has 130,000 more Km's on the clock than this example.

Yeah, but a 540 is a V8, and they are still (stupidly imo) worth less than their equivalent Australian brethren. -
Sounds awesome Ian. Looking forward to getting my exhaust sorted.

Joining when I get home. Should this go ahead, I'll def be purchasing a number of tickets!

I have always loved the E34. Before I owned one, I always thought the PFL E34 nose was streets ahead of the wide kidney version. But now i own one its grown on me a hell of a lot...

I've been in love with them ever since a 'sud burnt me bad about 15 years ago. STILL love that car.

Best way to fix that would be Wash, Clay, Mild polish, Wax. All by hand. Should take the better part of a day.

We're celebrating a day early by jumping out of a plane together.

Fair enough. I did the same about 8 months ago, but now I am finding I'm going to have to replace the Yamaha RX-V363 i bought then when I upgrade my TV.

*nods* Though be aware that you will not get the true HD audio over optical that HDMI 1.3/1.4 will provide. I'd go for something like this: http://www.pioneernz.co.nz/default.asp?Obj...ckCode=VSX819HK I'bve seen it waaay below that RRP at JbHiFi. Just cant remember exactly how much.

Make sure your amp is capable of processing audio. If it's labelled as HDMI 'Passthrough', then it will strip the audio from the signal and you'll have to use an optical cable etc, losing the benefits of bluray audio over HDMI. Very annoying. Though you might need to up your budget a touch if you want decent speakers too. Edit: This is possibly what Wom was saying.

I might have to talk to the missus.

Agreed. Warren is a good bastard too. Have dealt with him twice now (two buckled schnitzers) and the work was absolutely top notch, not to mention exceptional value for money.

I reguarly get 9.2l/100km on my daily 100km commute from paraparaumu/wellington/paraparaumu. This includes a bit of traffic. Have had it as low as 7.5l/100km on flat, traffic free motorway driving. Treat it nicely, and the 540 is an economical car for a V8.
