  1. Why dont you confirm with another member that you cant actually get in through the back seat. I would have thought a glass quarter window would have been cheaper than a taillight?
  2. Well it is quite difficult to "appreciate" the "curves" of a car that looks like it has rolled down the ugly hill and hit all the bumps on the way down.
  3. Thanks Chris - Ah im on pretty good terms with the local shop boys so I'll see what they'll quote me. Failing that i'll give that a crack. PS - Damn nice looking wheels bro! BBS? (im still learning BMW wheels) They look like JDM SSR Mesh's:
  4. Haha 10 points to you sir. Cheers Tomo, cant wait to see her on the ground also.
  5. Evening! I picked up all the bits for the weekend cambelt and waterpump swap on my lunchbreak today. Once I was home we got the R/R hub and LCA out. I'm sending it all to my friends work so that he can push the wheel bearings out and slap new ones back in for me. We also removed the rear shocks and I had a quick tap or two at any downward protuding seams/bolts in the front guards. My BS sticker arrived today! With fitment instructions!! I photoshopped a JDM swanky sticker above it... The sticker has got "danger to manifold" written all over it! (10 points to the person who picks up on that quote!) My short shifter also arrived; I've had to change tact a bit on this one - My plan is to cut the end off the shifter and weld that bolt on so that I can run my super badass looking gearknob. Sadly the shaft is far to wide to cut a thread into it. I also had a chance to pick up my Nolathane castor bushes or lower control arm bushes (whatever your flavour) I will probably get these pushed in when the cars in for an alignment - looking at a writeup on the internet it doesnt really look like a garage friendly operation at all. Thanks for viewing
  6. Agree'd that it definately does need some sideskirts. Im after something clean and simple - hmmm it is looking like I may have to start looking at some designs and do some mockups in cardboard. Suggestions of designs are welcome. Cheers Oh and I thought that the steering wheel would at least be worth a bit? Was hoping to swap it out for something more my flavour!
  7. Dont by chance have the manual inner gear boot? (rubber one) Cheers
  8. Parts update: M20B25 cambelt - Purchased Waterpump - Purchased Idler pulley - Holding off buying as I may not need a new one F/R wheel bearing - Purchased Offset castor bushes - Purchased Gearknob - Purchased and Arrived! Gearbox oil - Purchased HID Kit - Seem to be a few in the UK - still quite pricy Sideskirts - Pass - retarded expensive - paper mache? F/L passengers Map holder - JiB has sorted F/R drivers handle trim - JiB again Rear 195/50/16's in random flavour- Thanks again JiB! Front 195/50/16's in SP Sportmaxx - still need to call for pricing LSD - Leaning much more heavily towards a welded diff alternative Air filter - Want a K/N kit with adaptor but havent had a look at whats out on the market Still a few dents at the back of the car which need to be pulled and a few little things to sort. Hopefully once the suspension arrives I can really get into it and get it back on the road. PS - What are these steering wheels worth? Its in pretty good nick and thinking about ditching mine but I can't seem to find many like it to gauge its pricing. Thanks for viewing! Matt
  9. haha a pearl is a compromise from a glitter! You'll get this if your not careful! - f**k yeah!
  10. Thanks for the comments lads! Haha, I know the sort your talking about. And yes, the car will be gloss black. But maybe with a silver pearl (read: whatever is lying around the paintshop ) I am also thinking about leaving the wheels the colour they are because they actually good quote good on the black body. PS JiB - Dont tempt me mate! I'm struggling with finally owning a car that not only has full interior, but has full leather! Damn that shits heavy!
  11. New toys: While im waiting for my suspension and other pieces to arrive I decided to sort out my sloppy shifter and lack of a gear knob (Still need to find a gear boot and inner boot for that matter) Im putting sloppyness down to a worn pivot bush - So naturally I puchased a whole new short shifter! And you guys are going to love this.. My knob finally arrived. Cue the 1980's porn music and make way for the dominator As stated earlier; I'm also after a gear boot and inner dust boot if anyone has either. Few more pics of the rear wheel fitment: Thanks for viewing!
  12. 11/9/08 Updation nation! Wheels have arrived and pricing has been sorted on all the above items that I was waiting on pricing for. Pictures of the wheels this afternoon if I have time before training. Wheels don’t look like they will clear the front brakes, but will have to wait for the suspension to arrive to confirm. Bimmersport sticker is in the mail! JiB's sorted my trim pieces + tires for the rear (195/50/16) Thanks dude! I’m looking at cheap & nasty Hong Kong spec HID kits. Also I’m looking at UK spec short shift kits - Don’t really want to break $100nzd landed & has to include the pivot bush (or whatever it’s called in BMW world) Haven’t really got much done this week other than pulling a few A/C bits out and tidying some electrics. I should at least have mocked the rear wheels up / folded the guard lips ready to be rolled by Sunday.
  13. I've also heard the same. It will be interesting to see if they do, unfornately I will have to wait for the new suspension to arrive before that happens. I've got the 51mm dia shocks btw. Parts update: M20B25 cambelt - Supplier found - waiting on pricing Waterpump - Supplier found - waiting on pricing Idler pulley - Supplier found - waiting on pricing F/R wheel bearing - Supplier found - waiting on pricing Offset castor bushes - Supplier found - waiting on pricing Gearknob - Contact in Japan needed to send goods Gearbox oil - Supplier found - waiting on pricing HID Kit - Contact in Japan needed to send goods Sideskirts - Argh... no idea, currently cant justify $250+ F/L passengers Map holder - JiB may be able to help F/R drivers handle trim - JiB again! LSD - Leaning towards a welded diff alternative
  14. Fluro green definately crossed my mind, but unfornately I decided they may be slightly detrimental to the cars resale value I'm looking to head over to Europe on my OE in the next few years, so do have to think moderately sensibly. Otherwise all that leather interior would have been gone and the car would have been headed straight to frabrication! A good friend of mine is a car painter and he's going to paint them for very cheap, i just need to decide what colour. Black on black is pretty classic, maybe even gold centers?
  15. Looks like the people have spoken and gloss black is the winner.
  16. Haha yes i have. I cleverly decided to try and unscrew the wiper fluid sensor. Unfornately I pulled a little hard and emptied half of the pacific onto my garage! And in regards to colours - i've been tossing up between white and black but it does make more sence to stay with the black (as the interior and engine bay are already black) In which case I may paint the centers of the new wheels black. Maybe black with a slight glitter... Thanks to melowpuf for offering to help with my cambelt and waterpump! Champion!
  17. Cheers RJS - in response to your question: I havent the feintest of ideas! Whatever it is, it didnt fit very well untill the heatgun came out! It only really mocked up and still not sitting completely flush in a few places, but i'll sort them out when we go to paint it.
  18. Thanks for the nice welcome's and comments guys. I'm definately looking foward to some guard modifications Cheers for letting me know that BNT stock them - i'll have to hit some of the boys up for some pricing. Suggestions at cost effective mods are more than welcome! Cheers
  19. Hi guys and girls, I'm new to the forums and just thought I’d share my E30 project. As of a few weeks ago I picked up my first euro. An E30 325I (facelift I believe?) I picked it up from whangarei for an immense $900 - Complete with WOF, REG, and super custom speed dents. The exterior was in pretty rough shape, and by rough I mean paddock bashed duke hazard style. Every panel had some sort of dent, there was mud all through the engine bay and interior, bumper supports were broken/bent, wingmirrors were smashed, 3 of 4 wheel bearings had almost given up, gearbox crunching into 4th, evil play in the steering... In fact, I’m surprised we made it back to Auckland without stopping! Anyway, it wasn’t long (read: hours) before it was in pieces in my garage. Where I’m at currently: - All dented panels have been swapped for good ones / professionally panel beaten with my cricket bat and primered ready for paint. - Front and rear suspension is out and I’m waiting on new parts to arrive. - 16x8 +12 wheels are on their way, offset is a bit weak so will probably add some 10mm slip on spacers. - New tierod ends are on. - Having a bit of trouble persuading the rear right wheel bearing to come out, but are yet to actually give it a proper crack. - Lower lip has been attached and modded to fit for some super street cred. - Stickers have been made with stupid sayings in 2008 colours. - Aircon is half removed. I'm procrastinating about getting the correct sized spanner. - Most of the broken/damaged/missing electrics and interior trim has been fixed. - Head unit and rear speakers have been installed - Dub style. - Boot has been stripped and crappy leaking aerial removed. - Shitty coloured trim has been sprayed Super Lucky Chinese Racing black... To do: - Fix stalling. Clean TB maybe?? - Paint car - Suggestions of colour welcome, I’m leaning towards white. - Sort out differential. I feel like my soul has been lost driving an FR car with no LSD - More castor / replace other worn bushes (JiB suggested offset castor bushes)? - F/R strut braces. My last car was daily driven and had a jungle gym roll cage, this time I need somewhere to put the shopping! - Change cambelt, tappets - Probably end up paying someone to do this (Anyone want a cash job?) - Planning on some 195/45/16's on the 8's. Maybe SP Sportmax on the front? - Pads and fluids I’m not quite sure the car will be everyone’s style; in fact it may even be BMW sacrilege to some of you! My taste in cars has always been heavily influenced by Japanese drift styling. So expect to see low offset, stretched tires, fluorescent colours and a stupidly long gear knob!

Price on LSD if your parting out - thanks. Cheers
  21. LHD but may give you an idea or two regarding mounting. E30Drifter.com link Looks like they've used a D2/K-sport style one which i believe are mountable both horizontally and vertically. If you read the thread the guy doesnt actually like how it works - To be honest I don't think your initally going to need to go aftermarket. Just upgrade the pads/shoes at the rear - I'm sure theres something avalible through Racebrakes which should be more than enough with some good fluid and an adjustment of the factory handbrake. Pull more weight out and get familar with AE86 style clutch kicks/Scandinavian flicks. Save the handbrake for trimming/maintaining angles not initation. IMO anyway.
