Nissan GTR is your best bet for cheap performance. Costs about 70k and can beat Gran Turismo series piece of piss when fully tuned. Too bad it's an ugly ricer crap wagon.

Yeah you can only do them once, but it's a way to get some quick cash and your exp up. NASCAR definitely is a biatch on the d-pad. I've only been able to get gold on 50% of them with it.

It's all in the special challenges. If you can pass the nascar special events with gold on intermediate difficulty you get about 55k per challenge + heaps of exp points, and there's 4 challenges. Same with the karts and nurburgring challenge, pretty easy money.

Looooooovin this car. Well I was until I gave it too much power for the chassis to handle, now it handles kinda sh*t. I seriously want to get one when I'm done with uni. They're not too much slower than the M3 - at least on a twisty track. Also tuned the crap out of my M3 and with anything less than slicks and traction control set to 5 it's quite the handful.

Try playing with LSD settings - Up the initial torque and acceleration lock a bit. Buy racing tyres? Or if you wanna bitch out, turn on skid recovery/traction control haha.

Definitely get a wheel if you can afford it. I've always been d-pad man with every game I've ever played. But this is the first game where it just doesn't cut it. It's not accurate or quick enough to correct oversteer (which the game finally has) and throttle modulation needs to be far more accurate in this over GT4 but with a wheel I think it'd be a piece of piss. When I can afford to I'll definitely get a wheel +1 for U2... Kind of want to stay home and play GT5 haha. Go for the golds - you get prizes for completing licences in all golds and you actually learn quite a bit by doing so. Will make you really good at a lot of the tracks. Having read the reviews, it's unanimous that GT5 is the most realistic racing game yet - in terms of driving dynamics. And obviously graphically it's superior to everything else. Maybe need for speed is better in terms of game play - I dunno, never played it. Nascar is indeed quite difficult - took me a good half hour to get gold on the multi car drafting. The top gear kombi race is unbelievably gay.

I'm thoroughly impressed with it. It's definitely exceeded my expectations. Personally I think this is by far the biggest leap forward the GT series has had (I've owned 1,2,3 and 4). The physics are FINALLY accurate and for the most part the graphics are pretty flawless and deliver on the trailer's promises. I started off with an MX5 and I've never driven one in real life, but I think they've done a pretty good job of replicating how it handles. There's controllable lift off oversteer and it's nice and nimble. On that note, the rear steps out in most cars and you can drift them pretty controllably. A HUGE step up from GT4 where no matter the car it would just understeer or snap oversteer with no predictability. Great variety of game modes with the inclusion of karting, nascar, drifting etc. I like how they've completely separated A and B spec modes. Now if you wanna be a fag and let the computer race for you it's not counted the same as your own achievements. It's great to have more than 6 cars in every race too. Online racing should be a blast. The exhaust note of the cars is pretty good. Still remotely generic, but infinitely more tailored to each car than GT4's sounds. I find myself driving with the whole car view just to hear the exhaust better, even though I prefer the "front splitter" view. Weather and night/day effects are amazing. This is probably what I'm most impressed by. They are incredibly realistic and make it very aesthetically pleasing. I love the new track with the jump and big overhead loop - Dunno what it's called. Overall I'm more than satisfied with it. Should keep me occupied for more than 140 hours, satisfying my $1 or less per hour of entertainment threshold . Keen. Then I can be outclassed as a driver in the virtual world as well as the real world. On the topic of is it worth buying a PS3 for 2 games - no. Well yes, if you can afford it. I did and put myself several hundred dollars into overdraft with no means of paying it back in the short term. So my life pretty much is PS3 at the moment because I can't afford to do anything else haha. Speaking of which, anyone in Tauranga know of any jobs hit me up and I'll buy you a box of beer - or two if it's decent job!

Parents bought the exact same TV last week, was $1100 from memory. The picture is amazing and so easy to use. I've never been sold on Plasmas. I much prefer LCDs. Maybe I'm wrong from an objective point of view (darker blacks etc) but personally I'd rather have an LCD every time.

Pretty disappointed with the list of BMWs. It's not much different to the GT4 BMW list. They've got a ton of nice alfas. And the Maserati GT is in! There's wayyyyyy too many variations of crap Japanese cars. How many versions of the civic/skyline do we need???

Pretty lame to be honest, if you're gonna do an exhaust sound clip at least thrash it a bit. My '89 Corona is louder.

Buying a PS3 this weekend. Can't effing wait to play this game. Hopefully stake 3, fifa 11, fight night round 4 and little big planet keep me entertained 'til GT5 comes out.
