  1. A 750iL isn't rare? You've got to be kidding with that statement. There's usually only 1 or 2 available for sale at any given time in the country. They most definitely are rare when you compare it to anything less than a V12 7 Series. Also they are very very different to the 740i. The 750iL not only has a completely different engine but also the interior comes with every extra including a fully leather lined dashboard/door cards & unique wood trims. There are vanity mirrors built into the rear headrests & fold down picnic tables, adaptive suspension as standard, radar guided cruise control usually + loads more. Actually drive the vehicle before giving an uneducated input.

    haha

There is one e34 525i on trademe at the moment. I guess that makes me the owner of an exceptionally rare car... Well me and the other 400,000+ people globally who have one

  2. i dont have cruise :(

I concur on motorbikes too, crazy/stupid bastards. I wish there was a way to police the use of motorbikes better.

bikers riding like lunatics don't worry me so much. They have much more to lose.

if they cock up it'll leave a dent... but i'm unlikely to be injured in my steel cocoon

  3. Because you have presented the phone to be in excellent condition with X, Y and Z replaced you may be on the losing end of this one.

I faced a very similar situation last year. The claimant was trying to get me for $1200. The representations I made were judged to be slightly untrue. The adjudicator found me to be in the wrong but only made me cough up $500.

So you can lose but still win

  4. Screw the refund... See him at the disputes tribunal

I've been a couple times and its very informal. You tell your side of the story, they tell theirs and the adjudicator makes a judgement.

Your defence that the phone was working when you sent looks very convenient. I'm not suggesting you are lying but there are unscrupulous people out there that do... and the disputes tribunal sees a lot of them. You may win you may lose but its worth a go.

Post a copy of your trademe ad if you have it

  5. the lesson here is not to lend your car to 'friends'.... way too many stories of 'friends' borrowing cars only to ruin them.

    amen to that.

the situation is complicated when the 'friends' are flatmates.

Ironically flatmate #1 who inflicted the damage was borrowing my car because his radiator was knackered. So he borrows my car... proceeds to ruin the lock/door card... then chances his arm with his leaky radiator. Surprise surprise the car overheated on the other side of the harbor bridge and now the vehicle he paid $5000 for a few months ago is off to the wreckers next week for $500.

  6. This issue is doing my head in. A friend borrowed the car and f**ked the lock in the first place on day one... He tried to fix it but f**ked the door card so left me with multiple issues. I jury rigged a solution to the damage inflicted by friend #1... then lent the car to friend #2 who managed to f**k the repair I had in place.

So at the moment the drivers door is not functional at all and I'm having to climb over the passenger seat. Anyway... onto solution mode

I am anxious to buy a replacement 2nd hand unit for two reasons:

    1) the key barrel will be different. From the brief look I had at the part the key barrel does not appear to be removable from the main assembly. Can anyone confirm or deny?

    2) even if I can swap the key barrel out, will the car start? Is the immobilzer likely to cause issues?

    • E34 wins on maintenance costs. Biggest determinant of these cars value imo.
    • e34 is NZ new
    • That e39 is the start of the model run. The e34 is towards the end.
    • e34 is better looking
    • That e39 has faults. No air con, odd wheels and a munted front end.

    I'd take a good late model e34 over a sh*t early e39 all day.

  7. Wouldn't have bothered me if I'd just sold them on TM then someone resold and got more... That's business. But when someone claims bimmersport rights and talks about fitting them to their car then sells at a higher price... That's when it's cheeky.

    Cheeky indeed.

Profit is fine. Lying and taking advantage of community goodwill is not.
