    Handheld GPS

+1 on Garmin. I have a Garmin phone and its pretty awesome (has built in GPS for driving and walking, complete with spoken street names and all the extras). Also, Garmin is certainly the standard in Aviation.
  2. Dropped it off at the panel shop for a minor touch up
  3. There is a passage in the law that states that applying any type of tint film or spray to a functional light (i.e one thats there for a reason, not decoration) is illegal. If I get bored enough later I'll find it for the doubters out there. Edit: Search NZTA "Tinting Lights" "Tinting It is illegal to apply any kind of tint film, tint paint or opaque sticker to any lamp which has a function other than decoration (eg non-cosmetic)." http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/get-your...ghts-right.html
  4. Well good to see your sensible, personally i think the tinted tails do look rather tacky. Every ricer has them. Better than clears though . (Try get an m-tech kit and some less spindly wheels, then it'll look sweet )
  5. Check trademe, but they certainly arent anywhere near as cheap as the spray
  6. Try a model shop, hobby city in town. Just so your aware, the only legal way is to buy replacement tinted tail-lights with an E marking. But plenty get away with the spray-can job too..
  7. It is recommended. Standard procedure is to remove the bulb, or loop the wires
  8. Front left brake caliper on E30s with drum rear brakes. E30s with all four discs have two, but yours should only have the one.
  9. Ok, so that failed. Autocrash cant do it til the 7th June, I move to hamilton on the 3rd of June. Theyre sending me a list and I get to pick one, hopefully theres a few good options out there.
  10. Welcome. Always good to have more welly members
  11. Ok, it's all been sorted and Porirua Autocrash is going to do the repairs. Hopefully they do a good job. State didnt really give me many options...
  12. Cheers for that, that is a good idea. I have heard only good things about them, and would love to be supporting the sponsor of the Intermarques .
  13. How do you do this? ^^ Take it to BMW? Details.... Cheers, cos I have two keys, the one for the door locks has the code printed on it, but the one for the ignition is pretty worn and its plastic handled (not BMW original tho )
  14. Fixed my dash bulb that was blown, replaced the thermostat housing that was broke, and set the idle . Very productive day. Oh and i shampooed the carpets, and dried out the drivers side which was soaked due to the sunroof leaking. Or the drain pipe leaking. Or something leaking.
  15. Also ought to note, I've lost my no-claims bonus as of a week ago due to a minor roundabout encounter, so definitely not fussed about that. Definitely want a good job done though, because it's not exactly a rough paintjob at the moment!
  16. They have said they will cover it, with an excess of $500. Guess that really is the best option, just wanted some other opinions . Yeah I'll see if they come to the party for a full spray, Especially since the sunroof is already a slightly different tone (Has waaaay more metallic flecks in it!!)
  17. Haha I wish my Insurance was that friendly, but I doubt that will happen.. Who knows though, the painter might get a bit keen. Happened when we got my sisters car fixed haha, he sprayed nearly double the area he was told to! (Apprentices FTW!)
  18. It is two doors and part of the rear bodywork, so I'm guessing thatt would have to be blended or something? Im gonna go quote shopping tomorrow . Not so keen on the home job, cos It'll look sh*t as, and if the cops catch the guy then I get my excess back anyway .

    Plank

I see the humour in the fact that it happened in such an idiotic way. Darwin award candidate.
  20. I was parked to the right of the carpark so my sister (who has a broken wrist) could get out easily. Still plenty of space for me to get out my side, but it seems the guy parked next to me differed in opinion and was too cowardly to just ask me to move it.
  21. Okay so some low-life scum has decided to vandalise my E30. They have keyed the words "F**K YOU" into my drivers door, and a long scratch covering the drivers side rear door and some of the rear guard. Any ideas what kind of work would be required to fix this? I.E is it worthwhile claiming insurance on it? Any advice on paintshops near Porirua? Unfortunately its not gonna buff out, whoever did it was pretty pro and made sure it went through to the metal. Colour is Bronze-Beige Metallic if that makes a difference? (To the untrained eye it looks like expensive paint!) Cheers in Advance
