That seems like a very reasonable price Johno.

We'll have to get together sometime and have a photoshoot. E34 540's are becoming as common as 3 series on the site now. Maybe more people are seeing the light and getting proper sized cars.

Well done Ian Calypso Red too. The best colour for one.

A good set of 18" tyres (for a performance car) will be in the vicinty of $2,800 per set. Add another grand if you want to go with Michelin Pilot Sports. $300 a tyre is good value for money. A Kia is good value for money too (I won't imply they're crap), but you get what you pay for.......

Go down and talk to Brett Riley. Nice car. McMillans will support something that new well, I would imagine.
-
It's easy Greg. They don't have any horsepower, so can put any old crap tyre on the car.

Those Headers are beautiful!

No problem, although this paper is from 2006. It is the current ruling coming in on 1 June 08. http://www.landtransport.govt.nz/vehicles/...noise-test.html From the web-site today. 060719_hon_h_duynhoven.pdf

Didn't know Peter Stewart had a 3 series before, or was it Sir Robertson's.

No, it is exhaust noise. Obviously more important to the government than toxic emissions. 95dB.

I'll look forward to the finished pictures. Dyno'd it yet?

It depends. Torque Performance used to run Performance Car Magazine days and a run was $50 for 2WD and $100 for 4WD cars. It was purely a power run. You could pay extra to have the Air/Fuel ratio measured too. Maybe you guys could organise a run to Palmy for a day. I'm sure there is a dyno over there, given it's proximity to a race track. http://www.dynopack.co.nz/ Try sending them an e-mail for their closest dyno. -

From the look of his comment about going to Christchurch, I'm picking he's in the South Island (try to put a location in your signature). DCH have a hub dyno and can tell you whether it's putting out the correct power. Be warned, that if you car has oxygen sensors before and after the cat, you may be heading for a big engine bill. As they lean out at the top end. -
Not a BMW nebbie just a forum nebbie.

Welcome. Both cars look very nice. Join the car club as well down there and do the track day that they do each year. -
Yes, Brad and Bravo both have valid points. The police would need to show some discretion. I'm not suggesting a car that is out of WOF by a day/week or month that is in good condition should be impounded/crushed in every occasion. But, drive around GI for a while and see what percentage of cars shouldn't be on the road at all. Either through neglect or modding (without certs). I'm happy to see modified vehicles, as long as it is done correctly. The clowns a the WOF station don't always know what they are talking about either. They tried to fail my car when it had the race tires on it through lack of tread. They couldn't understand the difference between slick and bald. So I take the car to McMillans for a warrant now, where I get a warrant and a wash for the same price. (less actually).

And? Please see the thread on school 1977 vs 2007. Harden up! If you can't afford to do it properly, don't do it. End of story.
-
I disagree entirely. You can get nearly anything you like certified in NZ. So if you have modded your car and not got an engineer to sign it off. Crush that piece of sh*t, or keep it on the racetrack. I agree entirely about driver training.

I'm all for mobile car crushers! Unsafe cars are serious crime in my opinion. The dickheads who drive them endanger my family, friends & myself. And should be crushed in the car also.

I'm with Grant. Car-fe do a super job. And I can read the paper and have a coffee and a meat pie, while someone else sweats over it. Have you tried black nugget?
-
Good to see you are sticking with that Grey theme.

I might be able to help you there Simon. I might be able to get them to Ohakea from Whenuapai. Collect them from Ohakea and drive them across with me in my rental when I come down later this month. As I'm picking that they are a little heavy for me to bring as stowed baggage. Nice wheels too. Still not Turbines though!
