  1. Take it to your local Dealer and get them to change the batteries and check the keys still work. I asked Team McMillan and they quoted me about $27+GST per key to do it. Ask Beemn about how much it costs, if you lose the transponder ($500 odd).
  2. I don't agree with the statement that it was a designated parking zone. A parking spot is marked individually. I don't disagree that you have a case. You can't use the lack of Yellow lines as a case, otherwise 6m from every kerb would need to be marked also (and I think that would be a good idea). I always thought that the yellow kerb and triangle were the sign of a Fire Hydrant. Have one outside the neighbours plae. I'll have to go and look tomorrow. Good luck. I've learnt something for the day anyway.
  3. Make sure you have an insurance claim in. When I bent the strut tower in the 540, it took BMW 10 weeks to get all the parts from Germany and straighten it out. And a bill North of $8k.

Your diagram is incorrect (as outlined below), there is no requirement to have the yellow lines for a Fire Hydrant (although it would make very good sense) I'd say you have a case, as it is ambiguous. You may see these near pedestrian crossings, intersections, driveways or narrow roads where a sign is placed to show that part of the road is reserved for classes of vehicles shown by that sign, (eg bus, taxi or goods service vehicle). In many cases, this restriction is marked by a broken yellow line more than 1 metre from the kerb on or closer than 0.5 metres to a fire hydrant, unless somebody who can move the vehicle stays with it on a yellow circle on the road containing the letters "FH" (as shown below) or between the circle and the footpath, unless somebody who can move the vehicle stays with it Fire hydrant

  12. That's pretty cheap for a clutch. The 540iS is $1,098+GST for the clutch plate. Getting the weight out of your clutch should make it rev a bit quicker though. Good luck, let us know what you do.

  14. I have no idea how they work. As an Electronics person, I was only recommending not trying parallel first. Conrod may be able ot shed more light on their operation and integration with any electronics in the ECU. You could look at the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual. Actually, another thing with parallel circuits is that you will get an equal volt drop across all equal points, so 2 wouldn't be of any assistance to you IMO.
  15. I would wire them up in series as my first option. This will do less damage to your electronics if you are wrong. Rtot=R1+R2, so if each sensor has 10 ohms resistance, 10+10 equals 20 ohms Total. If you wire them in parallel, however, 1/Rtot=1/R1+1/R2, so using the same 10 ohm resistors. 1/10+1/10=2/10 or 1/5. So you actually end up with 5 ohms. This may cause excessive current to be driven through the circuit.

    The first SMS was sent on a GSM network in 1992 (UK), so yes. I left NZ in 98 and BellSouth had their network up and running well by then. And in 1995 an average of 0.4 SMS per month were sent on the Vodafone network. P.S. SMS, Short Message Service (TXT, is the numbskulls term for the facility) PXT, is an MMS.

  20. Take it for a few hard out laps of Ruapuna and the suspension will deflate. A mates E55 had the same problem, OK to be driven around town, but if it wants to pretend to be a performance car, it needs to stop and go around corners. Otherwise, it's a Star at Meremere only. An M5 is still a much better car IMO.

    Emma, such wisdom from someone of your age! I text a bit, but use complete words (T9). It's great to keep in touch with mates overseas and say Hi from time to time and not wake them at some ungodly hour. E-mail is just as bad, wait until you work in a large office and people won't even get off their arse and walk to the next department (and an internal call is free). But send an e-mail instead. Generally, I'll hold a conversation and then confirm with an e-mail on what was agreed to in the discussion. Automated receptionists are my pet hate. I just push 0 and talk to a real person.
