  1. Was it a red one. With a red leather roof lining? To my knowledge there was only 1 840CSi in the country and it was Gerry's.

Anyway, back to one of the first comments. Post your 1/4 time when you get one. Fastest so far is a 14.41 in the wet by an E36 M3, that I know of. Our car next at 14.75. Waiting for Andrew to finish his car and knock me down another level.
  3. Take it to Robin at Torque Performance and dyno it. 1-2% increase max, I would expect. Tell us the result. I would like to try it sometime on the beast. Haven't dyno'd it after the cats came out yet.
  4. Interesting, they have changed that document, since the last time I look at it. It is ambiguous on whether you could import a 540LE (my car) from Oz. It states that the entire range of E34 do not comply, then has a caveat of being production prior to 1990. And also suggests that WBA as a production prefix is acceptable. To my knowledge, the main problem was the twin airbag on the E34 (or absense of). So my car is WBA and post 1990, I guess there might be an argument to be had there. But if the compliance guy stops reading at "the entire range does not comply", you wouldn't get a good response.
  5. 2l 6 cyl or 1.8l 4cyl (no iS), free brake compounds, hopefully an exhaust mod (muffler), roll cage and chuck out the seats and get a race seat. That's about all, that we know. Look at the UK series, if you would like to know more (as I said earlier).
  6. You're being conservative Conrad. Mike's M10 is legendary!
  7. Turbos, who needs a hairdryer? There are 3 of these and 1 E46 that produce in excess of 300hp NA in the country.
  8. Mate, how do you drive? I get 13.4l/100k in the 540 that's for normal around town driving for a month. Open road less than 10l/100k. Paul, he can't bring a 540LE over as the E34 has the same problems as the E30 (even if it has both airbags, like mine).
  9. Officially, no comment. But the rules are to be nearly identical to the UK series, I understand. Assuming that something like that might be happening. Sorry Tim, no 335i class.
  10. Milan (Beemn) has a great E38 730 for sale. Have a look on the site for photos of it. Welcome, bring the 318iS and turn it into a track car.
  11. OK, I've been thinking (a rare thing). If it has black stitching on the steering wheel, if definitely should not be ///M'ed. BMW only put the ///M steering wheels into cars they deem worthy in my experience. So if it has the tri-colour stitching, you have a legitimate argument to badge it up.
  12. I'd go with the Model Designator removal option. The true sleepers have that. If it has enough genuine ///M bits in it, then go for it. Just don't put an M3 badge on it! I'd love to slap an ///M badge on my car, however, it's more fun to blow guys away when they think it's a 528.

That is a pretty comprehensive list of variations, mine does have Cruise control, self levelling suspension and doesn't have the plaque (however it is #46). Great cars. The standard 540iS is still a magnificent car.
  14. Damian is correct on this one. Deny all knowledge. When I was younger and a better driver (or stupider, you pick). I undertook a car on the motorway and brake-tested him (for doing 70 in the fast lane). Had the cops show up on my door-step with a great description of the situation. No, wasn't me, don't know what you're talking about. Have a great day and I'll see you later sir.... Anyway, I was a dick (however justified I felt) and they can't prove anything. More witnesses (independent) will make it difficult for you to get off.

Mine is the only 540iSLtd (or more correctly 540LE) and 1 of 70 in the world. There are a number (at least 4, I know of) 540iS in NZ, 3 Dark Blue and a black that I saw in Invercargill a couple of years ago. Whilst being nice cars, they lack all the extra goodies (however, does make them cheaper to repair). 16" were not standard either to my knowledge. Most people have slapped 18" on them, that I have seen. Let me know what it goes for! Low mileage and it would be a nice car. Paul, you should go and have a look at it, as it is in Wellytown and tell us what it's like. Ciao.
  16. I'll vouch for Conrod's knowledge! Andrew, you have been to see a car he worked on in Onehunga. Hi Conrad, good to see you aren't just renovating houses.

Mint! I love the E30 318iS. Join the Car club too and join us at Taupo for driver training.
  20. No, not an E30. Even the race prepped M3's weren't that fast. Back then, it would have looked like this.
  21. No, not since the Touring class died. He is driving GT3 and V8 Supercars now.
  22. 1:04 in the 318. Bairdo driving it though.

Andrew or Brent might have an E34 for within that price range. If you are not doing a lot of touring, then an E36 would be fine. I still prefer the 5 series, but, it's no light weight.
  24. I'll be in. Mine will handle the burnout, just my wallet doesn't like the bill. I'll have to see, I might need to get it lit up to warm up the R rubber. I'll look forward to a luxo-barge race.
