  1. Just an update, this issue is now all 100% and sorted thanks to Ray at HellBM! Turned out to be the ignition switch, and boy is it great having all my electrics back, so stoked it wasn't a wallet breaker and as per the usual big ups for the help from Ray. So, if your car decides to steal the luxury away of the OBC and Radio/CDs, probably a good start checking the Ignition Switch
  2. Woops, sorry :/ Thanks for the tips, opinions and advice though everyone
  3. Haha having a good laugh reading this. You are very true, but I can see the issue without a hoist, I don't think I will come out with blonde hair anymore.. will be more brunette in colour lol. I guess if I do stuff up, will have to probably tow it to someone who can do the job right, and then pay for fluid all over again (which is bloody expensive!) PLUS I have to consider the fact that fluid/filter might not fix my issue, and it might need more internal issues sorted, and then I have to pay for it all over again! I think if I was just banking on the fluid fixing my problems, I'd give it a go, but because it's making some pretty angry sounds at me, I will get the experts (eg Ray lol) to have a look over it for me and get the plan from there
  4. It's because we know nothing So we need that extra advice... No, I do appreciate the input and experiences from everyone, it's great to learn 10 different ways to screw in a lightbulb
  5. So that's why the profile views have increased drastically... it's the picture I figured I needed to look at least half as decent as the car!
  6. Yeah, after grabbing some know how that it could be more than just new fluid to sort out the problem, will be sending it to Ray and go from there..No point spending money where in the long run, it might not be needed. Rather get it done once, and get it done right. This car is popping problems from every corner, I just want her running smoothly so I can go have some fun! But hey, you pay to play, and I think it will all be worth it once shes running smooth and sound
  7. Cheers Ray.. No doubt I will be back to you in a couple of weeks with the car Already had planned the things that you said need doing at the top of the list, until the trans started making some pretty knarly sounds, so trans has been bumped up to to the top, with GM, Radiator Flush and Ign Switch coming close behind. Thought maybe a fluid change would be simple fix, hence me asking for a DIY, but after some thoughtful consideration, it will probably be back to you guys with a bit more on the plate other than a GM and Radiator Flush
  8. Bugger reading this, making me do a big double take..and that's exactly when it happens, cruising up hills is it's worst.. Just keep splashing money at the darn thing...
  9. Mmm nope.. All seemed well, clean changes, working as it should Just that bloody grunty sound on slow acceleration. Fine if you have a lead foot 24/7. Seen a few of the same incidences, and clean fluid + new filter sussed the problem.
  10. Yeah, very valid point. Have been given mixed opinions on Trans flush too... to not too, or to do is the question that still stands regarding that. Having a look at trans fluid.. Wowzers, but you pay for the true quality.
  11. I went investigating (what a women does best ) and found these clips. Now, it doesn't seem that complicated, and looks so easy. Are you sure they are doing it right? And there is the same tip for pushing through the gears to ensure it fills right.. Looks easier than what's being suggested so a bit unsure. God, don't you love technology
  12. Fluid pump I would have thought could make the job a lot easier Yeah that seems to be the suggestion so far.. lol
  13. Nope, will blame the hair colour instead, much more valid reason
  14. Got to start somewhere, and since that's what my car needs right now, first thing on the list that I was going to do (attempt is a better word..) You never learn if you never try, but if it's best suggested that something could go shockingly wrong when a female attempts it, will get the pros to do it.
  15. For me, it wasn't the price factor, more the learning factor and giving it a go, but now a bit unsure. It doesn't seem like rocket science, but then I didn't think it through regarding old oil in places it will need to be shoved through... Cheers for the chart! Makes that simple.
  16. Went out and got a few quotes regarding new parts for my car. First thing on the the list is to change the transmission fluid and filter. It sounds easy enough to change the fluid, and while I'm at it will drop the pan and change the filter. Parts are pretty decently priced too, but my question is, do I leave this to the experts, or do I go ahead and do it myself? I have the basic know how, and the tips for when the new oil goes in (to run car through the gears and then top up until full) Ah yes, and what fluid to use.. A bit skeptical about using your ordinary variety trans fluid... So what type/where from? Cheers in advance.
  17. Yeah, that sounds like a plan, cheers
  18. Stunning car..!! Can't stop going back and having a nosy over the pics. GLWS, hope it goes too a well deserving home
  19. That and ignition switch replacement on are the list of 'to do's' My list seems to be growing everyday...
  20. Not even a week, and on the first day it spent it's time at Hellbm as it stalled the night I brought it home. It was done privately.. when I txt the fella about issues, he said car worked 100% when he had it, and is blaming all the issues on me (right...) Is partially my fault for not getting it scanned/checked, but even then, only cam sensor/fuel pump was done and I was happy to spend money on that, being only minor issues. But now everything seems to be going on it, well all the typical E39 issues. But I'm not going to complain, just taking it as a learning curve and in the end, I did get it dirt cheap... This is why women do not purchase cars. We fail at it.
  21. Rain sensing only works when the Nav/Radio etc all start working. Apart from that, you flick it up one, it either doesn't go at all, or it's got an attitude about it.. The different settings for the first stage also don't work, unless Nav/Radio working. My guess is (minus trans issue) that there is only one issue, causing my entire car to laugh at me, one little bit at a time. Edit: Sorry forgot to add only 'one' issue
  22. Haha, might need to sell the furniture to pay for that one Then again, with the way this car is slowly falling apart on me.. never know
