  1. Just drop a V8 into the E46ci Body - sorted
  2. I love them both.. But all depends on what you are after - Big V8 that can up and go when it wants, or a sporty sort 6cylinder that can also boogie when it wants to. Having a small family myself, E39 540i - big, but got the grunt to take you on a bit of fun buzz when you want to open her up. E46 330i is a super nice shape, with a decent size engine to compliment the fair figure. However I do personally think what it does lack in 'space' it makes up for in the comfort of travelling in such a smaller car. You can't really go wrong with either, E39 is convenient in a few more ways (for me anyway) Mods wise, well they both look amazing when 'done up'..
  3. haha, I am surviving on the CD changer in the boot and lots of CD-Rs
  4. Nope nothing I could find.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Used the same theory when I looked at my 540i "it's on bmw 17's it's good!" However I would trade up the 17's for a set of 19's any day mmm on a better thought maybe 18's would be be more suited.. Will weigh it up when It's time to purchase new rims. It's on the to do list along with everything else... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. If only it was in an E39 body... It is a pretty awesome example of a E34 though!
  7. Its not too bad high up, no distortion or rattling bass. Pretty happy with it! I have 4 speakers and I "think" 6 tweeters. (2 speakers in front door, 2 on back tray, 4 tweeters up the front and 2 in rear door) How hard is wiring in sub/amp for it? Mm have to weigh up loss of boot space, which could be a problem with a toddler and prams etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Guess you got the true bargain then.. Just going with what is market price for that cond+ks Maybe it would be alright if someone wanted to convert, wouldn't be outlaying the higher costs of a working 540i with the same milage to then spend a few extra to convert. 9. For those who want a bargain.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-701795732.htm However repair costs would weigh up.. could be something simple though? Potentially... (Mmm doubting myself now)
  10. How did I miss this... 4 minutes of my life I sat with 'wtf' plastered across my face. Nicely lit garage though Will send this through to a few Merc lovers I think.
  11. Ray is awesome. Wouldn't bother taking my bmw anywhere else without consulting him first. Always does a top job and with great customer service. Congrats on the new car too - very jealous.. it's still on my 'to buy' list Edit: Hellbm is more like bmw 'Heaven'...
  12. I think that is a members car?
  13. Or E38.. Haha. Seemed to have missed the popular generation!
  14. Came up on my news feed and thought I should share. Pretty amazing to see the changes, I personally think the newer generation are becoming very 'jap' like (or maybe japs are becoming european like?) but the older generation bmw's had a true uniqueness about them... Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkEdit: Stupid phone double posted again - could you remove other admin? Cheers
  15. Unsure if this is a joke or a genuine suggestion, but no, nobody has 'pissed' in my fuel tank... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Wow, that is awesome! Great find. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I always feel like Im in the wrong place putting 95 in my car when I cant get to 98, But seems Im not the only one. 5 series gathering at Z E39 M5, me in the E39 540i and a super young fella in an E60. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Wouldn't want someone to do the same mistake I did.. I was too convinced on the car, that I let too many things slide. I love my car, but wish I had done the minor things which may have stopped the major things. Try and do some research on people and places that could do this for you John, it will be so very worth it!! Maybe even ask the guy for somebody that could do it local? Up too you in the end, and for all you know, could be something so simple you have already mentioned, I just know I wouldn't want to make my mistake twice
  19. Ahh thank you Jason, didn't even come forward in my mind! Will do Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Shall we stick to the topic at hand then, last I checked it was Bmw's For those who did contribute their two cents, thank you. It got me chatting with the 'pro' and have sussed to get the TC recond as that will be best option - suss out any issues and get new fluid all at the same time.
  21. Wow, not too bad then for 17 year old speakers, I was convinced they were aftermarket, but did a nosy today and stock as they will ever be - I pulled out the sound system from every other bmw and replaced, so was planning the same, but these speakers will go good for a wee while
  22. Sorry, stupid phone has double posted again - apologies! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. So once my OBC was fixed in my E39, I got the chance to check the audio quality... And Wow! Either this car had a very peculiar owner who hated the radio, or Bmw did it right... It sounds fantastic! (Esp for the age) I was going to shuffle some funds aside to replace the audio system as my past experiences with all E36's and E38's were a shocking one.. Crumbling speakers and distortion through out, but this car's speakers are still mint! I popped off the covers to check they were still stock, and sure are! (Comparing to what came out the E38s and E36s) I am in complete amazement that after 17 years of the elements and being played they can still sound so fantastic. Would anybody happen to know exactly what speakers were stock in the early '97 E39's? I would be guessing alpine, but don't want to pull them out just to see the brand stamped on the back! 24. Get it scanned before you purchase - best thing you can do! Might not tell you the exact issue, but will lead you in the right direction to what it could be.
  25. Still not 100% sadly, all the electrics, yes, car no Next on the list is a Torque Recon, Radiator Flush (or new radiator), Service and then, hoping the big things are sorted so I can tinker and make her perfect
