Ok. Have imported 3 cars ex UK and usually expensive ones. Firstly buying private is a risk unless you are there in person as there are frauds out there that will take your money and not have a car to sell or the finance is owing etc. 2 of my cars i bought in person so could check them out ... $2k for a air ticket. Last one was from a dealer. I organised a Pre Purchase Inspection from the local Porche Dealer (seller dropped it off and collected it) and they found issues - $5k worth. Went back to dealer and showed report and he fixed them all so I bought the car and used McCullough to uplift and deliver to me in NZ. Fantastic service, door to door. Would do again but only buying off a dealer. Presently looking at an i8 over there and negoitiating ...

Owned an 01 z3 with the 2.2L motor 10 years ago. Had it for about a year. Fun car to drive. Found the 2.2L sounded good in the car when driving but lacked performance. At the time, the 2.8L should have been the better car. Ran fine and zero issues. I later bought a z4 with the 3.0 motor ans was a much better drive / performance. Only issue with a convertable is that everyone looks at the driver and not at the car when the top is down. That is OK if you are a hot 20yo blonde ... lol

Hi All Just landed a 09 Cooper ex Japan for daughter and need to change the Jap radio frequencies to NZ. Anyone know how to do this or do I have to put in a band expander? A couple of UK forums talk about turning on the car holding in the m button but can't get this to happen so far unless their instructions are missing some vital step. Hope someone knows ... Cheers Ron

I was interested in the comments about myus.com and shipito as i have been using Youshop for smaller parcels to date and hadn't shopped around .... So I did a comparison on a parcel that is currently in transit with Youshop. Using their calculators on both websites .... Box is 12kg. 37cm x 31cm x 27cm so about 1/2 the size of a banana box. The Results ... Shipito - $ 172.55 (not sure what currency) MyUS.com - $US 177.88 Youshop - $NZ 126.50 - actual price I have paid It seems Youshop are offering the best rate obviously but others may chime in ...

Have used Kiwishipping for about 5 years and almost have something coming over every month from machinery to printer toners to bikes to car tires. After 50+ trades they have delivered 100%. I enter everything on line incl tracking numbers and expected arrival dates. They photograph the goods and send when I request. I had a piece of machinery arrive there and they sent it back to the owner as the crate was damaged on arrival to kiwishipping and oil was evident. Turned out the carrier had dropped it so the original company repaired it perfectly and resent to kiwishipping. Again after 50 + consigments, I have had zero issues ...

I use Kiwishipping all the time and find them 100% great. Had a bakery machine arrive on their doorstep and it was leaking oil through an accident in transit. They rejected it and was returned to supplier who fixed it with new parts and resent. Glad they rejected it there as I would have been pissed to get it broken here with zero come back etc. I had heard they were changing locations but thanks for this post as I would have shipped to old place by default. I see the web page has been updated with new address now.

Have you looked at the Potenza RE11s? I had been running PS2s up till now and found they were wearing out quickly. Changed to the RE11s and found they had a better ride and handled fantastically on the track days. Bought mine through Tirerack.com / kiwishipping as no-one in NZ stocked. Picked the RE11s from feedback from US forums where they are well liked by the experts there ... Just a thought ...

Where do you find this info from as a mate is trying to bring something in? He was told it is only 200 cars per year but they won't tell him anything until you pay the application fee? Anyone know when the new allocation of 200 comes due again - day / month ?

Hey Clinton Best company I have used is http://www.jpctrade.com/ They have an Australian on staff called Lachlan who is good to work with. Website explains it well. For shipping, Autohub charge $2k door to door but I would talk to McCullough Shipping. Beware of the Euro 4 compliance issues !!! as a friend got caught out recently bringing in a 06 mini which was stamped Euro 3 by Japan BMW. Make sure the model number has the first 3 letters like ABA-HL48 as opposed to 2 letter like GH-HL48. 3 letter cars comply but 2 letter numbers are likely to be Euro 3. Tell McCullough Shipping the VIN number and they will check the Japan database to advise you if you have a compliance issue. Cheers Ron

I am just consolidating a few things at kiwishipping.com in California so will land in Lyttleton in about 3-4 weeks. If you are quick, you could add to my shipment to save freight costs. Which part of NZ you are in as you don't have it on your profile ...

It is a designed for 7 series built Jan 03 till Feb 05. You insert the unit into the cradle instead of the phone and then pair it like a Bluetooth devise. Then all the buttons in the car should work. Basically it tricks the car to thinking you have inserted a phone into your car cradle but really it is a transmitter that you pair with and then you can pair your phone with the car through the transmitter. Since you are known here, happy to send to you to try if interested. It is new and cost me $US 250 Here is the manual which explains it ... www.obliquedesign.com/bmw-auto/media/BTUM_Web_011106.pdf

Hi Love to help but you don't help yourself with your side bar profile saying 'Location .... & car : Racecar !!!' While it may seem funny to yourself, it doesn't tell me what model car you have and age and if you are in Invercargil or Tim buc 2 ... as if you were local, you could borrow my scanner. Depending which model / series BMW you have, it could be a crank case sensor that when they are hot goes open circuit and when cooled down, the car restarts but this is just a guess from what I read on the www. Cheers Ron

Thanks Ray :) Always great to hear customers enjoy the place. Post earthquake, we lost our buildings in CBD so unlikely to return but plan to be a landlord instead with the property as the location is brilliant under the new CBD layout.
