  1. how do you know the exhaust is standard, somone may have changed it before you got the car
  2. there may be a paper in the car ,under the rear seat is common, mine was under the front seat.Take the vin to the dealer, ask nicely for a build sheet.Actually you only need the chassis number which is last 7 numbers of vin
  3. 528 will be around 8-9 on a long trip i reckon...in town could be anything ,depends how much stop start you do
  4. manual one even more rare....silly money tho
  5. wouldnt that show up as a misfire on a diagnostic scan?
  6. the front has some merit but the rear is OTT...you gonna get 4 pipes too?At the end of the day its your car.
  7. hmmm sell boat anchor or make it even more likeable.......
  8. i think this has changed recently. My new(to me) bike has got a warrant but the guy that checked it for me(pre purchase) said it should not have got a warrant because of the braided brake hose on it.
  9. i would think a new thermostat would come with a new gasket...ask Paul....
  10. one company i worked for did a semi manual back up every night, and external hard drives went into a huge old safe/fire safe.More senior staff took turns to stay behind for 20 minutes or so and then secure teh drives..

    Rear fog

there have been a couple of occasions where i have been pleased to have rear fogs.I dont think I have ever wanted more brake lights. The fogs only work if the main lights are on...even park.Leave them as is and use when required(ie in fog or very heavy rain)
  12. i like E39s more n more.....
  13. 235/45-17 245/45-17 255/40-17 are the "correct" sizes IMHO you will be pushing to get 4 decent tyres for that....should be close though
  14. nz cars are ussually pretty well specced esp 540.The only area they wouldnt be is the tv/sat nav because until recently there hasnt been sat nav avaiable here. The basic cars are identical.Jap cars can not easly be made to work with ourradio// tv sat nav systems. There is more knowledge here on that subject tho
  15. have you driven one?...cos they are deceptive, they dont feel that fast.Outright accelleration(esp standing start) of most BMWs(esp 5 and 7 series) is hindered by weight.Of the top of my head i would expect a fully kitted 540 to be around 1800kg so you wont get the kick in the pants you get out of the jap turbos...But they have a combination of luxury and performance that is hard to find.M5 s do not lack in luxury compared to run of the mill cars,in fact they will prolly have MORE extra.
  16. didnt mean that simon.I meant the impression you get from the web is that every 540 is a ticking time bomb but the rreality is that the vast majority are not!
  17. absolutely no reason you cant do the basic work yourself!Just make sure you keep receipts /service records of your own.there is a 6 speed manual in auckland with "character"Research on the web wwll tell you all you need to know,i think the so called problems are overstated. Not in the individual cases but i think you get the impression that every 540 is a ticking time bomb.
  18. 535ist or 540 ist,manual ,need a touring body of course
  19. (shirley =surely)proper response is....yes they will rub kiwi and dont call me shirley
  20. the new ones would rub at the front shirley?
  21. its a bit unfair i guess but not updating address or getting mail forwarded to the new one is an inconvenience but a fact of life.Sound like the treatment of the girls was very poor. That in itself is worth a complaint IMHO.Its abit like complaining that you didnt get the credit card bills when you didnt advise change of address, when they shut of credit.
