A Saturn 'S-Series'. I think I saw one in New Plymouth once too
-
The ones on the interstate look worse because they're always real beat up
-
I'll be the first to admit that I wouldn't mind one of these further down the track, but the interior is a tad drab for my tastes. *shrugs* #FirstWorldProblems

I remember having the same/similar issue on our old car. They worked fine, but we had the warning on the dash. However, the culprit was corroded/melted terminals... but as said they still operated fine. We got a (VTNZ) WOF even though the dash lights were on, guess they just go by what is actually happening.... Oh yeah and it did get a bit confusing for us when the plate bulbs decided to go too

Damn good and well priced. GLWS.

I think forum member Krish used to deal in the 'M3 type', although I'm not sure if he still does (or even if he 'did' or if it was a once off or something).

My 2c When I was test driving a few 5 series a wee bit back I did really like the 540i but I couldn't help but feel that the 530i would be better suited to my everyday needs. As recommended to me, I would try and aim towards the end of the e39 series, you might have to wait it out, but it's up to you. I would have absolutely loved a 330, and, I think it will meet your needs (daily/open/twisties) quite well. For myself, the leg room difference (and all round space) in the e39/5 series is a winner for me because we often travel long distances every couple of months.

Sorry to hijack the thread but just a related question to e39/e60 in general for wheels/tyres. Is it possible to run 19" on an e39/60 and 'get' a tyre which will still get a relatively 'comfy' ride? I've been in both (non m-sport) with 17", i guess with 'normal' tyres, and coming from an 18" low profile situation (albeit e46), the feeling was sogood.gif Just curious really, I don't know much about wheels and tyres.

New Dynavin E60, E90 idrive solution
dr_kahu replied to swauto's topic in Audio & In Car Entertainment
Dr Kahu likes this. I'm not up to speed on the different units, so it might sound like a silly question, but how does this work out for basic M-ASK units without nav & phone, and how is it integrated (i.e connected) with an iPod? -
Tristan said he got it from platinumwheels. For the rest of us outside AK, you can order it in at Supercheap for the same/similar price. I literally hit up all the usual auto/hardware places in palmy and SC was the only place that didn't give me a blank look when asking about the aerosol version.

Looks good. Did you end up using pretty much all of the second can? Let us know how you get on in the coming months. I'd researched PD recently before doing some silver trim, but keen to know how it holds up on wheels.

Plasti dip-sprayed some chrome trim on the missus' E60 during the long weekend. Turned out surprising good for a first effort. Needs a slight touch up though but from a distance it looks fine.

tbh it looks GREAT glws

No pics yet, but got a couple of other things 20 Pin 82-01 Oil/Service reset tool - $20. Used 3-5 times. Oil filter wrench - $5 - Suits e46 318i but not sure what else.

Plate surrounds and LED lights gone. Will post up pics of other stuff later on.

Got a couple of things for sale since the E46 is gone I can get pics for anyone who is interested but I only have a 5mp camera on my phone so the quality isn't so good. But I will explain them as best as I can. Some of the items are $10 or less because I can't verify if they currently work or not, however they were at least tested 4 months ago. If shipping is required, I will have to find this out. OEM E46 Pre-facelift Halogen Sedan Headlights - $100 They are in OK condition. There is some marking on one of the headlight's reflector (low beam) where the knob who'd previously owned the car with them in tried to put in higher wattage bulb or something and it must have melted it a bit. It was like this when we got it in 2008 so it never had any issues with WOFs. Lenses are in good condition. Does not include bulbs or socket bulb holders. E46 Business Tape Deck - $10 The Volume knob doesn't work. Doesn't require a band expander (although you could do the Oceania thing anyway I think, but can't remember). CCFL inverters (x2) - $30 Used as a swap out tester/backup pair to determine any faults, never used on the road. Carbon Fibre Look center caps (x4) - 68mm - $35 Opened but never used. Was destined for the E46 but arrived after it broke. The colors on the BMW logo are blue and silver. Slim H7 HID/Xenon Kit Ballasts (x2) - $10 Never been used at all. Again, they were to be used as a tester/backup pair but I never had to do this. H7 HID Kit Error Cancellers (x2) - $10 Same as above Angel Eyes for E46 Pre-Facelift Sedan Projector (x4 rings) - $5 Was to be used as a backup set, but I tested these a a month ago and there was discolorment amongst all the rings so they can't be used as a set unless you want to look odd, but may be useful for someone to swap out one of their rings for this model. LED License plate lights (x2) - $15 3 leds in each. Never used. I was told that these handle CANBUS also. Arrived after the E46 broke too. NZ license plate surrounds (black) - $15 The ones which expand your plate to try and make your plate look wider like Euro. These are off our new car, and can't have done any more than 20km city driving. Good condition. White Carbon Vinyl Wrap - 50cm x 120cm - $30 Adhesive backing. Never opened or used.

Thanks dude and thanks everyone again. But oh so bummed the E46 finally had enough a couple of days ago and quit (yeah you'd think it'd be an even more prime time to move on up but I've got to weigh things all up again) The Trans has gone-busted (most likely due to its 'bad parents') so having to do a slight re-think

Wow thanks for the responses people, much appreciated and they are really helpful @tmase - I wasn't aware of the split fold option, or the player mount position in the trunk so cheers! Hopefully get the ball rolling this week on looking around in depth and then actually getting one during the next two or three weeks. I definitely think I'll look into a recent 530i should the right combination of 'things' We're looking for (color etc etc) come up on it, or maybe look into the newest 540i that we can get and that meets our checklist. Thanks again!

Hey people, We currently have a e46 318i but we need something bigger in terms of sitting space and luggage space, but aren't looking for a wagon. I know a good deal about e46's but nothing about e39's, I have done a bit of searching about them online but ultimately I tend not to weight international forums/postings/discussions too heavily and would rather ask about them from people in NZ. I guess I'm wanting to know tidbits of info on them, or maybe of someone can suggest a good model from the line that would suit our needs. 5 days a week it will most likely be doing a <25km round trip around/through town, and every second or third month it will be doing either a 1100km or 400km round trip to north of Gisborne or Taranaki. And every other weekend it would be variable but about a 20km round trip. Obviously coming from a 318i, get-up-and-go isn't a great concern to us but I wouldn't mind using it as an opportunity to get something a lil' bit more 'oomph'. Oh and I wouldn't mind having cruise control and a sunroof...as wierd as it sounds lol Hopefully our budget will be something in 15-17. In terms of buying, what is normally a recommended checklist of things to 'do' before dishing out the cash? (yeah, we never did any pre-purchase checks with any of our previous cars.... ) Cheers, James

+1 Have brought form them before. They usually sell the handbrake + gear shift as a combo and it's a reasonably good price even after the conversion from GBP. The quality was very good, although I'm no expert, but it certainly did the job!

Just did mine last night, worked like a charm!
