  1. Sorry to bring up a solved thread but what bits and pieces did you use exactly? I've gotta do this soon... it's just started to happen and I don't have a 'preset' mounting point like some of the DIY's I've seen around (my tail light cluster is like yours).
  2. Very nice Krish, I've been wanting a black or white pre-fl e46 330i w/ sunroof, cruise control and HID, but just weighing up stuff in my life as well. GLWS if you decide to sell
  3. And here is an example of a set I have installed and on. If you want a pic of them in the box let me know, otherwise, they just look like any other set you see on TM/Ebay.
  4. I have a set (4 rings) of white CCFL angel eyes for sale without the inverters for an E46 Sedan pre-facelift with factory projectors. Mounting clips also included. Technically, you can still mount them to non-projector bowls but one of the rings will be slightly smaller than the bowl on each side. I have found them during a garage cleanup and they are no longer required. They have never been used as they were a backup pair. I tested them a fair few months ago but if anyone is interested in purchasing, I will test again before confirming sale. If you need inverters, you can purchase some from Ebay - E.g http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Spare-inverter-B...=item27bb9589ad $45 incl. postage PM if interested, cheers.
  5. Sh*t sorry, I didn't get an e-mail notification like I always do for that PM. Will sort out now.
  6. Not to bring up a thread from the dead but I came across them in the garage today and got a pic. $20 incl shipping or $15 if you're in palmy.
  7. Not that this is your problem (nor am I a mechanic in any sense) but I had a similar 'rattle' as well. Noticable at slower speed as the rattle bounced off the objects all around us as we went, and of course very noticable on bridges. There was not rattle, when, say, backing out of the driveway etc but approx 10kph up the rattle started. Ended up being that the anti rattle spring popped out at some point between Auckland and Palmy, must've sounded real pimp to pedestrians
  8. I'm not exactly up to speed on WOF regulations etc but if it was failed on the basis it had no rear left fog, you are quite right. I'd just show them exactly what is going on (two sockets on one, one on the other), although if you need to do this to a WOF outfit I would be a little concerned.... but still it's maybe not well known.... anyway, good luck and let us know what you do and how it went. Need advice

Sounds like a good plan to me. I believe he stated it was 'minus the supercharger and intercool(er)' but seriously WTF is up with writing it that way (and the auction description in general? - xyonp used confuse and it's super effective!). I'd vote also to gift a keyboard to him 'minus' the 'minus' key before wrapping it around his head.
  10. Like huff said, it shouldn't be contributing towards your cap. However one way to find out is to disconnect your router from your phone line jack (therefore disconnecting yourself from the internet, but still operating your home/WiFi network) and see if it still works
  11. I have the following which came off our E46 sedan (pre-facelift). - A pair of clear side indicators (housings) - A pair of reverse lights (hoursings) Please note that they are in used condition i.e yellowed. Don't know how to fix yellowed lenses so picked up cheap replacements from TradeMe and Ebay. $27 (incl non-signature courier) for the lot. Attachment upload not working at the mo. Will try later or PM me your email address if you are interested.

    What to do...

I am not sure about the facelift headlights on TM but pre-facelift ones are alright. Here is my advice: - The example from TM you linked does not use CCFL/LED angel eyes - each ring has 3 T10 2.3w incandescent bulbs in each which emit the standard 'yellowish color - so if you are wanting white, you will need to retrofit CCFL/60 LED rings. It is possible to replace these T10 with LED equivalents but TBH you get 'hot spotting' and the glow isn't distributed evenly. - If you are wanting the white angel eye look, keep in mind that if you are going to stay 55w halogen (i.e non HID), that the angel eyes and the low beam bulb with not quite match in color. That being said you can get the 'super white' bulbs from supershit/ripco and they do a better job of getting a closer match when looking from afar. - As you've said - don't bother with non-proj to proj housing/low beam conversion. - You can scout on Ebay for headlights too but you/a friend/helper must know what you are looking for, and what to watch out for. - Due to the fact you've got a FL - as the previous poster said - I'd try for some genuine parts first, it will cost more but save a lot of hassle. You get what you pay for.
  13. I'm after 19" E46 M3 style wheels to suit non-M3. I know this style is long gone but it's worth a try. I already have the 18" non-M3 equivalent of these (came with the car when we brought it), but want to retain this look but go bigger. cheers, James
  14. haha what I meant was our BMW has seen better days.... so I guess I shouldn't be so judgemental of others in good ol palmy either.
  15. +1 We don't have a prize pig either but yeah, gat damn.
  16. In terms of DRLs/Park bulbs, I would go with LED if you want to achieve a good clean 'white' look. However, in our E46 (not sure if same in E36) the LEDs (although they threw no error) would strobe each time the LCM sends recheck because the LEDs don't require that much power to get them going. However, in saying that, I have seen LED bulbs on TM which seemed to be aimed at those wishing to place the bulbs in their DRLs so I dunno if those ones strobe or not.
  17. I had a similar issue (e46) with running LED angel eyes in the DRLs, although it was much worse because the rechecking that the LCM does would send just enough power through to trigger them every 30-40 seconds - not a good look when driving during the day, or at the WOF station! I was to take it into a sparky to see if a capacitor/resistor could be added but I never did because I got called into work. I ended up just re-using my old CCFLs (I thought these had startup strobe, but i've just checked and they don't )
  18. In my general experience they were pretty good. I went to the Mt Eden Hometune when I lived in Aucks (We lived down the road so we'd take it in). We didn't have our BMW then, but my partner and I would take both our Skylines there. In general, they seemed pretty good - kept you in the loop of what was going on, how long it was projected to take, a rough estimate of the cost and then a receipt in a card-type thing when you go in and collect (small detail but it makes a difference when you keep them!). At the end, the cost wasn't too bad (but can't tell ya what I paid sorry, receipts went with the cars when we sold them) but that was for those sorts of cars mind you, maybe give it a try, a straight service perhaps? See how you go, and let us know
  19. Hey, i'm a total newb at this stuff so i'll try to explain to the best of my ability. I'll put some pics, but I could only find ones of the front face. I got an E46 OEM head unit off trademe for my mate, he said he might no longer be interested in it, so I am wondering if I can swap it out with my OEM head unit (because my volume button is failing to work nowadays), however I am not sure if it will work. My car is a 1998 E46, I do not have the part number on hand of my OEM head unit sorry, but I do know (IIRC from the label) it is Phillips,for/from Germany, and says INDEX:04 Similar to: This OEM head unit I've picked up from trademe has the following details: PHILLIPS (for/from) South Africa 65.12-6 900 402 PH705011023592 KW 13/01 INDEX:01 Similar to: Everything fitted ok (I reverted back to my one afterwards) but aerial cable isn't quite snug and there is a small/thin cable from my car which has no where to go into the south african OEM head unit. The good thing was the volume worked (lol) but I didn't test much else before removing again. Any pointers? cheers
  20. Hi guys, My misus and I just brought a 1998 318i a couple of weeks back and we are pretty happy with it! Having owned 3 skylines (in succession) previously we were a bit 'ummm' about 'what does what' and 'how do you do' about things, but we are getting there! - Which is how i came across this site. You sound like a good and knowledgeable bunch (no duh lol) so i am happy to be here learning from scratch about some of the aspects of these cars from you guys James p.s - pics were taken by my cell so may be a bit blurry
