  1. I'm 99% sure you'll be fine. that is the right offset I beleive and 235 should be OK on e36. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Also your profile should be 35 but you could get away with 40 - but then you'll have more chance for rubbing.
  2. I didn't even know they were up dammit! Good price there William. Although I'd have done the same as Grant- no use pushing the price up - just means less beer money.
  3. Fish eye is the Gay. Cut down version of the full terraview platinum package (which I have) which is also the gay. Slow, cumbersome and aerial photography has poor coverage (worse than Google Earth) and if you want decent resolution you have to pay. They sent Fisheye all over the country to homes and businesses, but its actually quite crap compared to other mapping and land information software (like quick map). I am a land professional (surveyor) and we use terraview, have access to landonline, and I still use sites like zoomin and smaps as they are much better for straight-out streetmaps and I use Google Earth for my aerial photographs. Why pay Council $45 for an aerial photo with boundaries when you can overlay a terraview jpeg over a Google Earth screen and print your own.
  4. Tyre size should be OK - what is the offset of the wheels? Will look cool. You're a funny mo fo.
  5. Agreed, beats zoomin even.
  6. Yup - I cracked the sump when I was jacking up the motor to replace the motor mounts and the motor mount caught as I was lifting (without me knowing). When it freed itself, the motor shifted in a hurry to rebalance itself, slipped slightly on the jack and the sump cracked. Was a $40 welding job and a $25 gasket so no harm done. The sump guard is a tricky one - it is alot lower than the sump so I scrape it alot. If it wasn't there I wouldn't scrape at all, but then again if I did hit something - bye,bye sump. So it stays on. My 320 was this low and I'm used to the height now - can spot a bump that will cause a problem from a mile off, so bumps and scrapes are only at crawling speed. It's not a problem really - only on rural driveways and the like with big humps down the middle.

    Parking

Ha - nice one Jazz, that's brightened up my morning. Will - as far as the firebrigade moving yuopr vehicle - well considering they would have a great big Fire truck with flashing lights blocking the road, they would just ppush your car out into the road. I still agree with you about the fine. It reminds me of a case that hit the papers in Dunedin. A guy parked on the street in the same place as he always did for work every day. That afternoon after work he found a parking ticket for parking in a no-parking zone on his windscreen. Upon looking he found that indeed, there were yellow lines painted on the road next to the kerb. He then noticed splashes of yellow paint on his tyres - they had opainted the lines while his vehicle was parked there and an over zealous parking warden had then come along and ticketed him!!! he got off IIRC.
  8. same problem with the m50 swap - all you do is modify an e21 booster. People have even used fiat boostyers and the like - smaller so less of a problem.

    Pod filter ...

It was probably done by the owner although there are any number of performance-oriented motor tuners who would be willing to rob you to do it for you. It will have just been a bit of rubber hose the right diameter and length extending from the AFM (Air Flow Meter) to the filter. Done properly it may enhance performance, but by an unnoticable amount. You'll need an adapter to fit the hose to the AFM and then jubilee-clip the hose to the filter. Then mount the filter with a bracket made out of some of that flexible metal stock with all the holes in it like used for securing aftermarket headunits.

I don't think I've everseen a fire hydrant with a FH circle. Always a yellow triangle on the roa, and in most cases a yellow band painted on the kerb. In most cases you can't see the yellow cover as it is behind the footpath under grass or whatever, so not seeing that is no excuse. If the triangle is badly faded however, then I agree as to the unfairness. Swanson is likely the name of the company that made the lid, not where it came from. Most should have FH on them, but I've seen just about any cover known to man on Fire Hydrants, and Fire hydrant covers on things like water meters etc. I'd say fight it, but be a little more aware of firehydrants in the future as almost none of them are marked correctly and as you state in your letter, it is the inconvenience to the firebrigade that is the real problem, not your $40 fine. This old gem comes to mind (yes i know it has been posted 100 times before)

    my new interior pics

I'm on the "not me" bandwagon. But I want to sya - pe proud of your work - it looks like your workmanship is good. Don't be put off by comments on here from those with different taste than you. Normally I woul dbe bashing it too, but if that means a new member is discouraged (especially one like yourself that seems to be polite and can speak proper english) then I'm against the bashing. Look forward to seeing your car evolve.
  12. I can't wait to see it finished - bad.
  13. If I shadowline I'll do it with sign-writers vinyl so I don't have to remove the trims - although those trims are the easy ones to remove - its the ones on the actual doors that are hard to do without bending them and F/L have them shadowlined already - its some pre-f/l that have the actual door trims chromed.
  14. Any opinions on whether or not to shadowline the window trim? I find the chrome brings out the wheels, but with my current plans to black all the lights same as the tails, maybe an all-black look is the go?
  15. yes, although I wouldn't call it an upgrade.

    tappet noise

Just make sure they don't over tighten them. It is better to have them noisy and in proper adjustment than quiet and too tight as this will create extra wear on your cams and the problem will soon return, but now with even more wear. PLus over tightening can lead to running issues like uneven idle and flatspots. I know because I've been through the entire process and ended up with a car that ran great and performed as expected, but noisy tappets - whoopie doo.
  17. Whitcoulls in Auckland (and other main centres?) has Total BMW. Most book shops can order in whatever you want and you can bring them in youself through the publishers for about the same as the NZ shelf price.
  18. Oh and while I'm here - I picked up this a week or two later - it's now on 33" mud tyres, is fully kitted out for off road including high-speed winch, higH-lift jack, snatch straps, block pulley, CB & UHF radios (to be installed), full recovery gear, fire extinguishers, the works. Is a 2.8 turbo diesel, came complete with lift kit, rims and tyres you see in the pic, rims and mud tryes that are now on it, full all-round bullbars, all round off-road tow hooks, snorkel, and roll cage from the b-pillar back. The white canopy is removable and have a soft-top for it, have heaps of spares, and it eats mud like it's going out of fashion - expect some proper off-road pics to come. It is a joint venture with my Dad as we broke (temporarily) his vintage 1942 Willy's so it was time to buy something tougher. This thing performs offroad really well and has been scrutineered and is a class 4 vehicle (out of 5 classes) This means it has all the gear required for competition, but isn't a specialist vehicle/buggy with independant brakes etc. Cost to buy - $1500 Cost of mods to date - $1000 (not including winch - that is a freebie in exchange for free rent of our boat-building shed which works out at $1500 if we had collected the rent) WOF and reg!!! booya.
  19. About two or three months ago I picked up this: I then went through the process of stripping out the 320 in preparation for sale (remove springs and sounds basically) and began modding the 325. I sold the 320 a little over a week ago for very close to what I was asking and finally had a chance to polish the 325 and put up some pics. Original Specs when purchased: 1990 325i imported from South Africa 195000kms Auto Leather interior (BMW Sport) Cruise control Longrange fuel tank Sunroof Sump guard Front and rear sway bars Maintenance undertaken immediately after purchase: Cambelt, waterpump, camshaft seal. Flush and replace coolant. oil change new plugs new motor mounts new gearbox mounts new power steering rack new tierod end LHS new front wheel bearings new brake pads and machined rotors dyed black parcel tray a couple of days cutting and polishing to remove massive paint damage on bonnet. replace countless bulbs and fix various little things like jerky windscreen wipers etc. Someone had got a vivid and blacked out the seatbelt warning light on the check panel!!!!! So many options! 200kw please! Anyway - enough of that - here are the pics. Edit Pics removed. Interior - yes it is actually that mint...
  20. My Dad's Baur has the same speedo configuration and is a uk import as indicated by Spargo. rare - not unless there is some particular point of difference - (cabrio, aftermarket well-known BMW tuning company has highly modified it etc.)

    Quick Questions

The offset should be OK, but they need to be 4-stud (4x100).
  22. mine does. And I've driven one of wills without an ic. If you are hardout unbolt the dizzy cap and filch the rotor. unbolt the steering wheel, etc. Doesn't stop it being towed however. Leave it at a mates who can keep an eye on it iis the best bet - make sure you trust them first tho lol.
  23. Sorry Sam but my 320 had NO rust.None behind firewall "rubber" lining, none in shock towers, none behind door trims, none behind door mirrors, none in boot, none by rear tail lights. None. But it was a "garaged all its life rarity". Partly why I got the price I did when I sold it - naysayers be damned - you know who you are That said, every other e30 I've seen has it including my new one.
