Schmeh - I'm one of the lucky ones who has a high metabolism and work an active job. I'm 60kgs and only put weight on in winter when I get out less and drink more. Admitedly though - tI don't ever buy three pies for lunch - It's just after eating the $14 one I thought - damn! three pies and a coke'd be more filling than that! no morning or afternoon tea though (does an icecream count?)

Another f/l another one that works but only on the drivers door I think? Ali - you seriusly need to consider upgrading your car to an E30 for this must have feature!!!! I'm sure someone here will begrudgingly swap you if you plead with them.

My box came off a 320i sport (SA), and so is slightly closer anyway for that extra go off the mark - NEEED a new diff and thinking 3.73 or 3.91. My total was $1800 and I used fully new clutch (but not master and slave) had to buy some tools and did the short shift conv, so pretty much apples for apples. Congrats on getting it finished Cameron - how's my shifter doing? lol You forgot that in your costing - a steal at $35 incl. postage hah!

I hate how whats good for you, and what fills your stomach, is convenient and cheap are usually not the same thing. Smoked Chicken Salad Sandwich $3.20 Chicken, Brei and Cranberry Bagel $5.50 Pasta Salad Tub $3.00 Bundaberg Ginger Beer $2.30 Total Lunch cost $14.00 Verdict = Hungry 3x Steak and cheese pies $7.50 Can of coke $1.20 Total Lunch cost $8.80 Verdict = full and feel like a fat bastard, but saved enough for a pint on the way home.

Yeah - used to be b&w newsletter, but thats going back awhile now. Been full glossy since it was taken over by the publishers who do performance car etc (now sister magazines) a couple of years back.
-
Not bloody likely - Classic Car is a full-blown glossy mag available at your servo or news agent. colour photos etc. no that's illegal and in this small country I'd liekly get busted - don't be so cheap - go and buy it for $7.95, or just read it at the news agents - its only two pages. don't have it in front of me, but yeah give or take a decimal of a second.

on the cover. For those of you who don't usually buy this get the current issue. Pics of all the cars that entered targa, plus a two-page special on the e30. Not a hell of a lot of info really, but a few nice specs like 0-100 times and power outputs of the various models. Oh, and who knew there were enough Sunbeam Rapiers in NZ of decent enough condition to warrant a club???

I'll step in hare as Andrew's unofficial secretary and elaborate: Pull up firmly on the front of the seat cushion and it will pop off its mounts and come free easy as pie. Behind the vynl flaps on either side of the bottom part of the seat back are 10mm bolts. Undo these pull the lower part of the seat forwards to free it, then lift up firmly to lift it off its mounts. Then you can undo the seatbelt mounts, and then carefully lever the tray out (takes a bit of careful wiggling and bending). Oh, and the plastic covers over the seatbelt reeels are clipped to the reels, so carefully prise these off first or else you'll struggle to get the tray out.

You'd have to go for something from shox.com or similar (another site; turners or some such was recommended on another thread), or go second hand. Four new shocks in NZ of any decent nature will set you back around $1200 plus and then springs say $300 plus round figures off the top of my head.

1) Mine did not have slave cylinder hose, but I got one for next to nothing from a wrecker. it has metal fittings at each end to screw into the appropriate places. You could get a new one for around $40 I'd say. 2) Don't re-use bolts for the pressure plate - buy new ones - they are only $1.20 each and there are 6. And don't do them up too tight - I sheared one of them off and had to drill it out. Pain in the arse. If you have a torque wrench something around the 25-30 ft/lbs should be heaps. 3) I'd be buying a new pilot bearing - in fact I got new pilot bearing, release bearing, clutch and pressure plate - total cost of about $360. 4) Gearknob - get aftermarket - better anyway. Sorry I can't help you with any of the parts. One of those things you get when buying second hand - there is always something missing. Ray will generally try to find the odd bit you need if you struggle to get it provided he has access to one.

$280 sounds like a grift to me. Thought you said you've got a pre f/l one - or is that the one from the wreckers. Offer them $100. You only need the front half anyway.

YEah - read the article - toit!

Why can't you switch the bearings/bracket over from your auto driveshaft to the manual one? Presumably the auto one will fit as it came off the car. Its a bit of fun romoving the circlips and then knocking the bearing off the shaft with a hammer and scewdriver without damaging it, but not all that hard.

Even fully polished would be cool.

I hate how people think that Japanese cars are still inferior build-wise. The Germans could learn a thing or two from japanese carmakers about build quality.

Looks good - hard to tell, but are those wheels Lenso's? I have a friend with a set for sale but unfortunately cannot afford them at the mo. They are really nice looking wheels on an e30 IMO. BTW - do you realise you have caps lock on?
-
Or if you are really cheap like me (I had the same prob) pull apart both bearings, choose the better bearing of the two, crack her open, repack with grease, and re-assemble in the correct housing. Whole process took me 45 mins.
-
Mine does that with the brake lights when fanging around corners. Also brake pad wear light comes on in the wet. Talking of warning lights - what have you whom have had their cat removed done with the cat temp sensor?
-
I've got one of those for sale if anyone wants it...

I'm loving it. Dayum! Looking forward to updates....

Bought @ 97xxx now @ 105xxxkms 1989 320i Water pump and cambelt week after I bought it. Needs cold start prob and mild missing prob fixed. Replaced fuel filter - fuel filter had 1997 written on it - i bet that it was installed around then looking at it. Water was brown had to do some serious flushing of cooling system. Someone has replaced part of the exhaust. Auto started leaking serious fluid - litres and litres a trip. hence manual conversion. But nothing else yet so pretty good.

more concerned about ride height andrew, but as I said on Sunday - springpads will be the go if not. My mechanic does my WOF's usually, and he's pertty on to it and knows the vehicle. might take it down the testing station this time just in case. Hmm list of illegal mods: Smoked tails, low (maybe), europlate (in the mail), the list goes on... lol. Maybe I pump up the tyres and take the sub out before I go for a wof - do I have to have a spare???

A few months back there was "the great bimmersport uprising of 2005" and alot of members (myself included I must admit) had a crack at the mods. Since then the site has been its fantastic self, there is enough of the bitching and creative modding to make things interesting/funny, but nothing out of hand or stupid. Mods are doing a fantastic job. Have we found the perfect median????? Anywho, it seems that a few n00b's andor dumbarses have got burned this week - great! Means that the mod system is working. Leave it - she be sweet as she is. Although your idea has merit martyyn, not sure it is required or even that good an idea to implement.
