If its an attesa it'll be an sr20det. My mate just did a manual swap in one of these - it was the hardest freaken swap I've ever had the displeasure of being involved in - no space to work, and that transfer box for the awd system just makes it a huge pain n the ass. These are bloody good cars and total sleepers - around the 200hp stock from factory - put a big front mount on and run say 10 or 11 lb peak boost and your starting to have some crazy fun on stock internals! And they look like somethin nanna might drive, so yeah - fully sleeper. I think your asking a little low actually if it is a attesa - they only made something like 1-2 thousand of them in the world- they are not rare by any means, but definately a premium on the standard ones. I reckon you could prob get a good $5k if it was presented properly. I'll ask my mate - he has 2 (one for parts) and he'll know what its worth. There's also a NZ bluebird forum/club online somewhere - try advertising it there.

You can change the lights easy as 1, 2, 3, but this is the first time I've seen them and thaought they looked OK - usually the square ligths look really really horrid. You can drop it on some lows or supa lows for spare change if you buy second hand. Kit and wheels? I've seen a lot worse and only a few better... Ah the phenomena of the human opinion - it's great I tells ya!

I found this whilst looking for something else. It has rear mtech 1 skirt and spoiler. Hard to see if front valance intact. Sorry to those of you who like to hog the auctions to yourself, but this one was too good to ignore. Enjoy.

I hate it when people blatantly abuse a skill they have in order to diminish others. It is soo much better keeping quiet and just pulling it out when required to bring a particularly offensive person down to size. (In a simialar way to a sleeper beeing way cooler than a wanky ricer even if both have the same performance) Picking fights just to show off your ability to crack skulls is a sign of poor character. Funny as it may be...

It'll prop be more than $50! Your auto takes about 2-3L of ATF fluid at approx $10 a litre retail for anything decent and if they flush a little bit through you could easily be up to say $40 just in fluid, then filter, etc and time. Budget around $70 or more - I had mine done before I did my manual swap but until I go home and look at the invoice I can't remember how much, but it was more than $50.

If they do it properly they should open the inspection cover too and examine the belts. And make sure they use the correct fluid - BMW autos are quite picky - it has to be the specified grade for your 'box or you will notice problems.

Your an East Coast girl! BIG difference huh!? Although your red beast is almost as rusty lol!
-
That's nothing - you've obviously never been to Northlands West coast - that's a luxury coach mate!
-
Yeah - I would've too but I was on a time budget and couldn't wait a week or so for them to arrive from Ireland Eng. But if you can wait, go urethane - last longer.

Looks mean. What do you call "low boost"? 5-7lb? I take it you're planning on running standard internals? Please keep us updated how you are getting on. I've pretty much abandoned the idea of a non-bmw engine conversion, so now looking at either m20 or m50 turbo options and would love as much info as possible.

Try Euro Italian in Albany - 094449817. I got mine from there and they were $97 incl GST and freight. Say Graham from the Bay Of Islands referred you :thumb: I just hooked a block and tackle to the hoisting point on top of the engine and lifted it enough to replace them. Piece of piss. Both of mine were totally shagged - only noticed because I regularly have a good look around the car and engine and happened to spot that the engine wasn't sitting right on one of the mounts.

Damian is right tho - e30 and cheap and reliable don't necessarily go together. Something small and japanese would be much better suited to your purposes and would probably cost 1-2g less than an equivalent e30. If your heart is set on BMW give nath on the forums here a PM. He has a mechanically sound and very tidy 316 that I happen to know is about to come on to the market. It has same sun damage in the paint on the boot but otherwise is a wee minter.
-
Brent or rollin... Window switches and wiring harnesses - price please!! But I really want four. Want to replace the ones on the centre console. Backseat passengers can suffer the old e30 ones.

Fitting as per factory is always better, but if you can't it is not butchering unless you are a clueless dumbass who can't work a drill and don't know your head form your a**hole.I'm not taking a shot its just that a bit of ingenuity never goes awry if you can't get things to quite fit. If all else fails and you re a clueless dumbass try a BFH.

You can't fail a warrant on plates. But you can get a ticket from a police officer for incorrect ones. The german plates ones are quite common and don't seem to cause problems. Mine are from gtgrafix.com and are made from perspex. I've had one query from a police officer. I told him they were legit, he took my word for it.

If repairable then repair it, if not, doesn't matter if the holes don't line up, paint over the holes to cover any bare metal and drill new ones to fit - not overly hard really if you are handy with a drill. Or use those self-cutting screws but remember to paint over after to prevent rust.

My theoretical budget for a 2r20 or rb 20/25 conversion is in the order of $6k-10k including buying the engine - if you are planning on doing a conversion this the sort of money you need to think about spending especially since you should be doing things like brakes at the same time. Easy to spend even more.
-
If you sand it back yourself it won't cost very much to have a different coloured one painted - maybe $150-$200 as long as your sanding is up to scratch.
-
Hey glen, what have you done re brakes - did you do a 5-stud conv aswell? How would 4-studs handle the 200hp approx of a sr20det? It's still a while off, but that conundrum has been nagging the back of my mind lately.
-
I been toying with the RB25 idea, but keep coming back to sr20det for weight advantages. I was going to do a m20b25 conv this year and then sr20det or rb25det in about 18 months, but I've decided to just save for the nissan conv. and skip the other one. Either that or something like m50 turbo. There is a thread I started on the subject in the archives somewhere within the last 4 months. do a search.

Funny guy. Yes but I had been drinking for 13 hours by that stage after a hard night at a birthday party the night before. I could have taken a nice one of you nathan at about 6am but I'm not a c**t like you. New Years still rocked hard, early knock of or no... Damn that birdshit was hard to get off today, and thanks to the person who poured bourbon all over my bonnet - you're a star. :thumb: And I see you reading this Andy - any smart arse remarks from you and you know....
