  1. Better safe than sorry huh?
  2. Most people with money have it because they know not to throw it away. Rear fogs = burn my eyes = the gay. Europlates - like jazz said they cost a good nite out on teh piss - as long as you don't get a fine and just have to remove 'em, so what?
  3. Did some research of my own (did a year of law school about 6 years ago so I think I know everything lol). Anyway, S14(1) of the Transport Act 1986 says: Thus confirming that the rules should be published in the Gazette. Off to have a look in there now... Edit: Can only search notices online from 1993 onwards here, I found nothing - must be in an earlier gazette.
  4. Yeah, a 6-D cell one :mosh: It is for the torch. I should figure out what sort of voltage and current it is pumping out - Docking station for IPOD? somewhere to wire a permanent socket for u'r cell? Neverthought about using it before.
  5. It's the traction and the weight of the vehicle to control the trailer that is the issue - not the performance of the engine. People think that because they have a towball and the car makes forward progress with the trailer attached, it must be ok - wrong!Twisted chassis and the trailer overtaking you are not fun things I'd recommend to top off u'r holiday. Tow sensibly people! Your car was not designed to have 1.5 ton of boat attached to it! Unless u have a bigger car like a 5 or seven, don't bother. Even then avoid ramps. The big fords etc are fine on the road as they have the weight advantage and the pulling power - but traction on a wet ramp is an issue, and apart from the damage to your car, theirs the loss of pride as you extract your car from the sea in front of a crowd of laughing boaties at the crowded ramp in summer.
  6. www.gtgrafix.com I thought they were good because when I asked about changing a few details like the font etc, they were happy to do whatever I wanted. I just had to send them a sample. Nice guys to deal with, fast deivery from the UK and would deal with them again. bad photos I know but my camera sux... put these on last nite:
  7. I use K&N panel. Does the job well, but I wouldn't say 7-8hp gain. maybe 3hp?
  8. It poss could, but i wouldn't. the ramp would be the thing. You really don't want to have a ton tand a half to two ton pulling your car backwards down a slippery slope towards salt water with only one wheel making traction (unless you have LSD). Its like andrews e36 pulling his e30 - it could, but your looking at around 1.5 ton plus for car and trailer - even braked, think of the stress on the chassis, drive train and brakes of all that weight. And what do you do if the trailer decides to go a different direction than the car? It weighs more, so it wins - you go where it wants. I've done a fair bit of towing - what is possble and what is safe are different things. I've seen a brand new Ford xr8 gofor a swim at the boat ramp. Glad I'm not that guy. up to you, but be very careful.
  9. It's not a WOF requirement, but the police can ticket you if they like as you are not displaying legitimate plates. Risk it. Alot of people do. Including me - mine arrived from the UK today...
  10. 27 mins kfc and back? If u didn't get takeaway u'r a fat bastard. Good concept. Maybe a few of us should get 316's. No non-standard parts allowed - just u'r own tuning skill - who can make the fastest?
  11. Should be a piece of cake. The cable screws in at the g/b end (some fiddling required prob to hook that end into the g/b as I haven't done it I don't know for sure) on the passenger side and hooks onto the throttle linkage on top of the inlet manifold at the other end. Take note of where it runs when removing it and you'll be sweet.
  12. Cool - another blue f/l e30. 3 by my count now. Slight improvement - how does it perform?
  13. If u'r moving to auckland it will be cold and raining. Expect highs of 18 - 20 at the mo on hot days. Now if u were smart and moved to northland like me you'd only get about a 2-3 degree drop on your 25 and its been really sunny of late - browning up nicely. Up here unleaded regular is $1.42 and premium is $1.47 but its been as much as 10c higher recently. Auckland is around 5-8c a litre cheaper. I think they trying to encourage smog so that they get their own greenhouse effect to match our temperatures. You'll prob find it not too bad actuallyas Aklds hills trap moisture so its very humid - makes it feel hotter than it is as its so sticky compared with your dry heat over there. Northland isn't that much different I'm afaraid.
  14. It is quite bizarre. If you look at thenumber of e30's produced, then the number that were auto, then compare that with the number of auto ones in NZ, then it sometimes seems we got all of 'em which is weird considering our lack of large cities and straight, flat roads. Yes manual e30's are less common. I'm 23 with a less than clean driving history. I pay $600+ a year for full cover. Petrol over here is more expenive than diesel. That's because we pay road tax separately on diesel vehicles whilst you guys pay it at the pump. $1.40-$1.55 for petrol is the norm depending on octane rating and geographical location. Don't bother getting it serviced at the dealers - there are aseveral good workshops in the aucklandregion to get servicing done. When you know what suburb you're in, post back so the locals can tell you where is closest. Bavarian on Aucklands North shore is quite popular. WOF as said is a yearly or 6 monthly inspection of your vehicles safety depending on the age of the vehicle. Its a $30 or $40 expense plus any necessary repairs to make it comply. Yearly registration is a little over $200 and is compulsory for all vehicles. Jap imports imported in the early and mid 90's need to be thoroughly checked as alot had wound odometers and poorly repaired crash damage. A wary buyer will usully come off OK. Mine is a jap and it's one of the tidiest and most reliable examples I've seen (with the exception of specialty models like m325's) if I do say so myself. Newer imports are much better as there are more checks now although it is still possible to get burnt. Aside: Welcome! Why you moving over here? Feel like being under the thumb of our piss-weak government, or just feel like being paid less to do the same job in colder conditions??

    HB e30stz

See I'm not the only one who thinks u need to start training 4 21 now.HB Andys, and I'm gonna hold u to those rims if u win.
  16. If you are doing something in your vehicle that distracts you from driving that is so obvious that a patrol car going past can see you aren't paying attention, then you deserve to get pulled up on it. No cop is going to catch you changing a CD unless you are trying to grab your CD case off the floor of the passenger seat or something. In other words, anything that doeesn't pose a serious hazard will probably be imperceptible to passing police officers anyway.

    HELP !!

That's what i was after. thought as much. I may look into it next year.Cheers
  18. Sorry C&D don't know for sure, but I think it is doable without too much stress, but ask around a bit more - don't take my word for it. SRBMW - I used Carls spreadsheet - it takes into account what gear you are in and applies the correct ratio for that gear in that box.

    HELP !!

Whilst on this topic, what are the options available to shorten clutch pedal travel? Are there upgrades to either the hydraulic side of things, or the pressure plate that would mean the amount of pedal travel could be significantly reduced? I've gotten used to the stock setup, but when I first started using it, I felt it was a bit long.

    HELP !!

Clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing = $350. At your nearest BMW parts place. Avoid authorised service agents as they charge alot more. Go to anyone else who specialises in BMW parts.

    hello from australia

Aussie cars always seem better looked after than NZ ones and this is no exception. Tidy, tidy, tidy!
