    hey

Welcome Paul. There are lots of e30 owners here - many with a similar philiosophy. Nice to have you aboard. Pictures of your 325i please!

    Facey is slow!

Same issue on both FF and IE.

    Facey is slow!

Yeah, but google.com, and other international sites (twitter, realoem, and many others) are fast. So far the issue is with: google maps facebook bebo myspace I'm going to get hold of the person who initiated the ISP change when they are back in the office later today. In a way, I'm glad google maps is on the list as we need this for work, so it'll mean something will happen to fix it.

Which ISP are you slow people with? We've just moved to telstra clear and it seems all of the social networking sites are unuseable - bebo, myspace, facey. None of them load. It's a business connection, and I'm wondering if they are intentionally degrading the service to those sites under some agreement with management. Funny thing is trademe works fine, and if you were going to have a list of sites where service was degraded, surely trademe would be included. BTW we don't have a proxy server before anyone asks.

Same problem. Must be something to do with our ISP and the facebook server. (We just changed ISP's too).

    how to...

Sounds alot like the firewall drain is blocked (as mentioned by SIR E30). It's on the drivers side and should be a fat oval shaped rubber tube, but if this has been removed, it'll be a round hole about the size of a 10c piece. When this blocks the area under the vents below the windscreen wipers fills up with water until it overflows into the car.

    Facey is slow!

Cool, glad it's not just me. Installed a new adsl modem and router yesterday, and was hoping it wasn't causing the issue. Google maps a tad slow too. Bimmersport blazing away as normal, so that's ok. Cheers.

Facebook is performing slower than dialup on my usually lightening quick adsl connection. Anyone else having similar issues over the last couple of days?

    Brooks Steelies

As much as I am for the widened steelies thing - check out tyre availability. I've just spent a week finding tyres for a 14x7" wheel with a similar overall tyre diameter as e30, and there are only about 3 tyres you can get that fit, one of which is rubbish. Do some research before you spend money on the wheels. Keen to see what Johnno has lined up in a 16" wheel though - sounds good.
  10. Neither are all the idiots who do it wrong. This is one of my pet peeves. Strange what gets people uppity isn't it?
  11. $8 a fill, and $2500 worth of vouchers if you win the Minter comp - that's a lot of fills! Top effort - kudos.
  12. The 2007 hate thread The 2006 Love thread Ryan G - sometimes I actually don't mind the ute drivers taking up the passing lane. Often on the other side of the hill they're doing 110-120, it's just that the passing lanes are often on hills so it takes them longer to pass. If they didn't go straight away they'd never get a chance to pass the 80km/h vehicle and be stuck behind it for the next hour or so. You can go past on the next straight as you've got more grunt. It's when they do it and then slow down to 80kph themselves afterward that's a pain.
  13. Stickied for colour codes. Cheers.

    Loose Change.

That's what I meant, but somehow fingers didn't engage with brain. i meant the US only got involved after the japs bombed pearl harbour. Ah well - teach me not to proof read.

Leave the wheels black but get whitewall tyres. Although widened white steelies would look cool.
  16. I love this style. Not limited to VW's either although its generally agreed that that's where it started in it's current form, but all they did was copy the old rat rodders. Iron oxide or oiled steel finish FTW.
  17. ^^^WTF??? When did this become a bogan site?

    Loose Change.

BTW, the WWI was Germany, Hitler etc. WWII was initially the Japs - Pearl Harbour remember??
  19. In regards to the comment about not needing a cert, that's simply not true. The people you spoke to are either not aware of the law, or just know that you are unlikely to get pinged for it, so weren't honest with you. THe LVVT manual and the WOF manual are very very clear. Heated springs require a cert. It says exactly that. Whether you get one or not is up to you. Do a search on the ltsa website - it's all there for you to download. Compressed springs may be ok, but the problem is, when you heat the metal the properties change, and it's very difficult to get an even rate throughout the spring, or even a progressive rate. If done by a pro they may be OK as at least they will have taken care to avoid hot spots, etc. That way although your springs may not provide the handling available from properly designed springs, they're unlikely to fail and cause an accident. From the certification Threshold Schedule (the document that specifies what does and does not need a cert): Otherwise you need a cert.
  20. I live there. They do the rounds of all the towns up here, and then we don't see them for a few months. Was Kerikeri's turn last week. I went through 4 booze stops, and saw about 10 cars pulled over in about 5 days. They're gone now. (I think).
  21. Yep, today's news stories make for depressing reading. Capital gains tax on housing, transport reforms that make no sense, armed robberies, and the running down of a 15yo boy as part of gang initiation, and some very disingenious ideas for queens wharf auckland development (honestly, is an adaption of Sydney opera house, a blatant copy of the London Eye, or just a bunch of flashed-up sheds the very best they could come up with???) Disappointing.
  22. I see you owned a couple of EXA's. When I was a kid, I used to dream about these! I never ended up owning one as my tastes changed, but I did get an MR2 instead. What are they like? Good drive, or a bit of a piece? Welcome to the site.
  23. You've got it sussed. Not OK for coupes for passenger entry and egress, so you have to remove the rear seats and belts. No problems in a sedan though. Do it!
