  1. you need to buy the key through BMW dealership. Cost $380 for a remote 2-button. Rang up armstrong (http://www.armstrong.co.nz/) who does transponder keys but they said they can do it for all cars just not BMW.
  2. came across this interesting chart published in Singapore. The chart indicates prices of all cars sold in Singapore for the month of May 2009 (under the column total basic cost). More importantly, it shows the Open Market Value (O.M.V) of a particular car. A brand new 320i cost in the region of S$40K (or in equivalent NZ$42K) but a 320i purchased NZ New cost NZ$69K. What a rip off... PDF
  3. very nice car with a good price.
  4. would certainly buy it from you if I'm in AK... unfortunately Was looking at the Bosch catalogue, it doesn't really tell me if I should buy BSDIN65L or BSDIN65LL Which one should I get for 2001 E46
  5. Jeff grey charges $385 + gst for a battery. Does BMW uses 'special' battery? Can I just buy any normal battery from Repco?
  6. the web tv has some interesting clip. Watched 7 series launch in KL. http://www.bmw-web.tv/en/channel/new
  7. Thanks. Probably work with a Jap phone not our GSM or CDMA system here in NZ
  8. Am rather curious what is this thing doing in my trunk? Can some kind soul unveil the mystery? Thanks
  9. WTB plastic clips that hold the mats down in the car (for E46)
  10. I'm surprised it has a supercharger fitted in Singapore. it is illegal to do after market modification for cars in Singapore. I'm very positive the dings happened in NZ. Cars like these cost over a $100,000 in Singapore (approx NZ$130,000) and Singaporean look after their cars with tender loving care
  11. about $3500 over the last 6 months of ownership. Spent on various maintenances and repairs excluding petrol
  12. Thanks, tried AA. They said they stopped offering Zero excess policy for almost 2 years
  13. you're a lucky man. Mechanical insurance with ZERO excess are the ones that genuinely offers absolute peace of mind. when I enquired about Autosure Platnium Plus policy recently, Autosure said they stopped offering zero excess policy since last year. Now the excess is $350 per unrelated claim. Imagine when making a claim, they could count left control arm as 1 claim, right control arm as another claim etc. For a single repair job they could apply multiple excess in the name of Unrelated Claim. If there's anyone aware of Mechanical Insurance with ZERO excess, please let me know. I won't mind a much higher premium
  14. can someone recommend me Mechanical Insurance with ZERO excess? Most mechanical insurance I found impose an excess for European car but Zero excess for Japanese car and I've yet to come across one which has ZERO excess for European car. Thanks

    Im puzzled

Do we have 1 or 2 rear fog light on E46? When I turned on my rear fog light I noticed only the driver side rear fog light lit up. I'm thinking..maybe we've suppose to have only 1 rear fog light.
  16. Had some experience with Autosure. The insurer will try every means not to payout unless they've fully exhausted all options. e.g. if you have a faulty part (especially an expensive one), they will repair not once but a few times and only when its beyond repair that they'll replace it with a 2nd hand unit. Just imagine the amount of inconvenience you've to put up just to get it repaired with re-cond parts. and as always, they'll use the "Insurance will pay ONLY if a fault is found" clause.. and "Insurance will pay ONLY if the part is proven to be faulty". You really need a good mechanic who will go into battle for you with the assessors
  17. This has me stumped and I hope it's not something stupid I can't think of right now. After driving and then turning off my car, I hear a fairly distinct ticking sound coming from under the car. The sound occurs the moment I turn off the engine and usually for a few minutes of the car being turned off Any thoughts? Again, it happens after a few minutes of turning the car off, and it does not come from the front engine area. Could this be the sound of the hot exhaust pipes contracting as they cool.
  18. Incident 1 Replaced my Coolant expansion tank at Jeff Gray BMW Wellington. Paid about $400 for labour, coolant, coolant tank and pressure test. When I checked the coolant level on the next following day, I realised the rod was not floating. Took the car back and they added coolant into it. The explanation I got was after running the engine more coolant gets tranferred into the cooling system (my thoughts are shouldn't they start engine and kept it running for a while and top up coolant as necessary while the car is in their workshop?) Incident 2 Had my car serviced with them. After 2 weeks, the low engine oil light came on. I immediately checked the dip stick and oil was at minimum level. I had to buy a litre of engine oil and added about 3/4 of that bottle to get the engine oil to the right level. Since that incident, my car has been running fine for months. There's no leak whatsoever and in fact the oil is still at the same level which indicates it wasn't a case of high engine oil consumption. (again, was it a case of them not topping up the right amount of engine oil after draining it. I'm sure I was charged 6.5L worth of BMW engine oil) Just isolated incident?
  19. My car is covered by Mechanical insurance I've been using Jeff Gray BMW but will look for another workshop the next time my car needs repair work. cost is not really an issue but hate it when they're expensive and yet fail to deliver
  20. Can anyone advice on BMW Specialist in Wellington? Page European seem highly recommended but they're Not an Authorised Repairer for my Mechanical Insurance As for Jeff Gray BMW, they're expensive and I had numerous terrible experience dealing with them.
  21. WTB Driver Side Mirror Cover for E46 prefacelift Black colour preferred
