If your into qaulity .. listening to your music broadcast over radio signal is the worst way. Yes mp3 has lossey compression. However Ipod support apples Lossless compression format .. so you get the best of both worlds, no frequency loss and maximism space. (just use Itunes on ya PC/Mac and your set)For me .. I'll be installing the alpine unit as my car is a 2k1 (my e46 isnt compatible with the BMW Ipod inteface) found this out after doing all the research :/ ok the Doc for installing the Ipod (BTW these kits come with no instructions (these are those instructions the dealership has) http://dc.nzbattlefield.com/images/hostedi...structions1.jpg http://dc.nzbattlefield.com/images/hostedi...structions2.jpg http://dc.nzbattlefield.com/images/hostedi...structions3.jpg http://dc.nzbattlefield.com/images/hostedi...structions4.jpg http://dc.nzbattlefield.com/images/hostedi...structions5.jpg http://dc.nzbattlefield.com/images/hostedi...structions6.jpg and the DYI for the dicky plug http://dc.nzbattlefield.com/images/hostedi...odconverter.doc hope that helps

no probs man CAMBus is a standard adpoted by the automotive industry its basically a twin-pair serial communications standard ... its what your ECU readers use to talk to the car computer etc etc ... BMW use it to communicate with everything in the car, The US Nav system uses it to communicate with the box in the boot (trunk ) and the CD / DVD changer. You can do things like change whats displayed on the CD player LCD etc etc
-
It only works with the e46 3 series (02 onwards), z4, new 5, new 7, new 6, X series and new 1. Its to do with the BMW CAMBus system .. which im finding you can do more and more with ... I have all the info at home .. ill host it and post it when I get home tonight ..

The fast and furious did nothing for the automotive industry ... this is a prime example.

The new 3 isnt my cup of tea .. I hope they dont ass up the m3 version mind you I hear its gonna be a v8 4.0 anyways on with the show you need flash 6 or above installed. http://www.bmwtransact.com/microsite/new3/

possible thermostat value jammed open .. it happened on my old pajero once ... get it checked/replaced .. and DONT drive it till its fixed

Ask him if hes not the guy who just got an iPod install done with the alpine unit from rapid radio ... If so ... his car photos of the thing where the sex .. Im looking at getting the same thing done to mine ..

Was looking at doing it to my e36 320i .. however .. you have to make sure you got the breaks to stop it and suspension. The 320hp M3 EVO engine I think is too powerful so prolly best to go with a standard 280Hp 'standard' m3 donk. I personally saw the light ... it was going to cost about 8000-10000 to do properly. and for a 95 e36 (mine) it wasn't worth doing. sooo I bought an e46 instead..
-
ohhhh do I spot another e46 330i in dat hizzouse ?
-
I can host the videos on my webserver if ya want ... free of charge obviously ..

I think hell find itll be more than the gear box that will go, ACS unit, the diff and drive shaft universals to name a few things .. its gonna be an expensive job, but hey if hes doing it hes doing it properly. Good luck to him it sounds like an interesting project ... please do keep us infomed, Im look at the the ESS Supercharger unit for mine.
-
If its any consolation, I have a friend in the US whos about to buy a new 330ci, hes paying about 28k (USD) which works out to be 35k NZD ... we pay a serious premium down here. New 330ci = 104k (NZD)
-
at 400HP the auto tranmission on the 330 wont last ... the 330 drive train is only good for around 300-320hp from the engine. and the manual version can only handle 350 odd. very nice though!
-
yeah you too mate .. cheers
-
yeah werd .... e46 innit ?
-
possibly look at the AC schnitzer boot 'lip' .. the full spoliers make the e46's look longer than the are spose to be IMO ... full spoiler boot lip I have the boot lip on mine .. and it sets the car off nicely. however its all up to what you like ... Unfortunitly with the e46 .. you pay top dollar for the parts as they are still sold as new. Have a hunt around on the net ... its way cheaper to import one yourself. RE: the stop light thing .... you can get anything you want .. you might have to get him to grab it off the net thats all ... Toptown (hamilton) do the full spoliers ...

yeah .. I dont have a no claims bonus + the vehicle is worth over 50k, so with full cover and all options (free car rental and accomadation blah blah blah) it sits around that ... I have shopped around. AA wouldn't insure me (even tho I have been with them three times before and even for the old e36) sooo .. I was talking to several people about this.. and basically if you own a car of a certain value at a certain age bracket .. your fuxored. I have a friend who has just bought a DB9 .. hes 32 and the car is worth around 350k .. imagine one could only what his insurance is worth :/
-
the 330 costs 2500 per year through AMI ... and im 27
-
what the hell are we doing!! .. should be a thing we get for the site .. a site resource for all to use ..
-
Options for my vehicle realistically is the super changered option. I would get great performance gains for very little impact on the engine. 330i on a semi auto box should sit around 300bhp ... manual and you can get around 360bhp at 0.45 bar. thing is ... the kits are around $4600 - $5800 US. I think I'll finish my first round of mods first before doing this sort of thing .. I'm happy with the power mines making at the mo.
-
You could have a AC Schnitzer tuned engine ... IE goes into their motorworks workshop and gets things done to it .. however I doubt it very much in this example ... people get confused a lot with whole AC Schnitzer thing.. Really its much the same as racing dynamics was, just tuning parts.
-
hmm .. you'll be sweet then ... talk to a wheel shop about removing the inner piece .. because (and again dont qoute me) once they go back in .. you may need to put them in as the came out to not cause un-balancing. Then you can just get them dipped and repainted (or whatever) I dipped a new pair of ROH steel rims (for my 4x4) however then were steel and single piece. but yeah the acid dip should be what you need ... do shop around though. Lots of places in south AK...
-
You may want to get professional advice on this .. as I dont think with that polished rim you can just acid dip them ... it will need to be chemically removed (not bead or sand blasted) but I think you be look at a repaint after the dip. as I said .. talk to a specialist metal shop .. there is one on kyberpass road next to the harley bike place and opposite Jaycar .. im pretty sure its called eden electro-platers. hope that helps [edit] just had a second look at the picture ... the red part .. is it 3 piece ? IE can you get it removed ?
