Well what does SE mean then? Cos we have a 1996 E39 523SE.. and my Dad spoke to our BMW Tech in Dunedin before we brought the 5er from Christchurch about it, asking about enginer probs etc. Basically all i know is this: A 523 actually has a 2.5 engine, but the chip or something downgrades it so BMW could sell it cheaper to a different market. Only a few horsepower, not noticeable to the average driver. Or is it that its still a 2.5 but a diff engine like m## b## than the 525. BUT With a 523 SE surely the SE means something to do with the engine (but i think maybe it has something to do with cosmetics, leather ,stereo etc, so maybe its been upgraded to 525 specs again. Re - badging the car would be no problem would it? Its not like putting a M3 badge on a 318, its putting a 525 badge on a 5 series 2.5. Its all very confusing isn't it Can someone please help me with this, It'd be much appreciated Cheers (argh there go the Grant styles) Emma -
Glad you guys found my website. The people that he is linking to would kill him if they found out where all there bandwidth is going to.

Damn right Sparkle... I have been converted from a 3er to a 5erH ow about get a crashed E30 M3, use the engine and kit all the extras so long as they aren't damaged (pick all this up for 10 grand) buy a 318 coupe for $5000 and then you have a fakeish relish weirdish one. Simple. :mosh: -
I think the mods are doing a really good job at the moment. Everyone should know what's suitable to post and whats not. It'd make it much easier on them.

Gidday there I'm interested in this car, but i have a few questions. Is it reliable? Are the gears smooth and no problems with the G/BOX? Is it a Japanese import? Any engine, diff, body, gbox, chassis problems? Has it ever been DE-REG'D, and if its a import does it have de-registration papers? Sorry about all the questions, but i am kind turning 15 soon, i have 3 grand available, and am looking for a cheapish E30 318 Manual to do my learners in, and i really want a good realiable BMW Thanks heaps. Emma

Well i have to give a big shout out to Grant for moderating really well in the For Sale section lately.. keep it up, your doing good. Also a shout out the the rest of the mods.. esp Andrew for setting bimmersport straight.. now we all gotta keep it that way. Just to let you guys know to the H/U sold for $270.. but then the person backed out of the sale because her boyfreind bought her one.

Actually, i just remembered when we were up in CHCH alot of people let us in lanes etc, and Dad also let alot of other people in. He said that the CHCH drivers are much courtious than the Dunedinites. I think people have more respect for European cars than ricers.

You mean as in how comon they are? Holdens and Fords are just part of NZ ... everyone wants and has one. But they are so ugly and not cool.. so why bother.. but i spose thats what they say about BMW as well.I even had to ask Bravomikewhiskey(Graeme) to txt his German freind to ask her if they had Jap cars in Germany.. because i always had this image of BMW, Mercedes, Audi and the rest of the Germans. They do have Japs BTW.
-
I agree. I can see where you're coming from E30_318i, but in terms of what the car is, BMW is a whole different level. Holdens and Fords are your common people carrier. BMW's are Ultimate Driving Machines. And to think those dickheads hate your car at school? Jealousy. Only one word for it.

That really doesn't matter aye, its still a BMW. Regardless of the fact whether or not its a Japanese import. And Ryan..... He was a great mate.. best one i ever had.. but he was always very materialistic.. and used to always ring me up if he got something new. Funny his name is Ryan as well jks
