  1. have the 58s sorry. 53 on my mind being an e53 of course. spare is a 57 so probably came on those, apart from the 4.4i in the engine bay, its otherwise as poverty pack as they come.

would be happy with either 69s or 87s as you suggest, 63 seem to be the go too but whatever. the reason is my front tyres are shagged anyway, rear tyres are brand new thanks to previous owner. should be able to upgrade for not to much.

truth be told, a pair of style 58s with as new tyres i would also be happy with. While i like my E53 and have decided to keep it, it will never be a car i get passionate about. it just too good-er nick to sell. probably will hang the keys to my Transit up for good in the next 6 months or so, so will be useful having something a bit bigger around.

  2. looking for the following for my E53 please:

    cargo cover in black.

light control module for tow bar.

some nicer wheels than my style 53s which are probably the ugliest wheel they came with.

    North Island wide is fine.

may also consider sportpac and/or M parts if price is right.

  3. ill take the rack spacers please.

can i flick you some currency instead of coldies, i don't trust Fastways to get them to you cold, intact, or indeed there at all.

    ta

    oh twentyseven 30793 double too

Double FA---aarrk 3 metre wheel base and still another two metres hanging over the ends - will turn like a bus - a new class of BMW owner is emerging and clearly one Dave and I will not be running out to join.

Mind you have you driven the latest Toyota Hi-lux I need my distance glasses to see the end of the tray

thats if your eyes don't burn out by looking at the front of a hilux

  5. pay attention to where the expansion tank is on your car, as thats where the difference is. You can simplify the cooling system by fitting a rad with a built in expansion tank, you ditch about 3 hoses.

upgrades include fitting an alloy thermostat housing and an alloy Z3 M radiator in place of the OE item should you choose to do so. I hate the BMW plastics. Also remember your heater core is a part of your cooling system, and an often overlooked item in a cooling system overhaul.

  6. saw Kerrys Kia a few weeks back. I couldn't believe what 60k could buy in a brand new car. astonishing the kit that it had. Its a good job he didn't turn the stereo on. i suspect i would have been giving ASB a phone call.

or just buy my one which is sorted cooling system wise, interior and exterior both mint, and is a rare clubsport so will hold value relatively better than the stock boring ones. :D

Yup sure, thats an option, but i wrote the above since 99% of the cars he will be looking at wont be owned by bimmersport members ha was talking in general terms

  8. Id recommend an E46, either a prefacelift 318i, or otherwise get a 325i/328i E46. all other E46 are not worth your while, especially as your first one. interiors are generally good quality, headliners usually the only thing that fails. if anything else inside is wrong then thats a pretty good indication of the life the car as had, as they otherwise dont break on thier own. people arent rough on the interiors but service the car impeccably. if the exterior is a bit scruffy then not a big problem if its a common colour, panels are cheap and plentiful, as are all E46 parts and they will be for another 5 years or so too.

E36 are mostly getting a bit long in the tooth now, though there are certainly some gems amoungst the rubbish. the first 3 series that was designed to protect its occupants in a crash. coupe specific parts are becoming hard to find, but their motors are plentiful, as are sedan parts, tho prices are starting to climb a bit. non specialist wreckers dont bother to buy them any more.

E30s are past being a first car now. highly collectible and reserved for enthusiests these days, even the scuffiest 318i auto sedan is a 3-4k car, and no matter what you buy, you will be working on it from time to time. if you are ready for E30 ownership, you'll know, because nothing else will do.

But above all else, regardless what you buy, please recognise that things can and will go wrong. they are 15 - 20 years old now, and were only ever designed to last 10.

if your budget is 7k, rather than spending the lot at having nothing left in the kitty, you are FAR better off buying a car for say 4.5k and then spending 2k replacing the cooling system, giving it a full service, and then tidying up the inevitable short comings in the interior. Its true that you wont get your money back in the end, but you werent going to get it if you spent the whole budget anyways, so you might as well have a base line established. be carefull of mutton dressed as lamb too. its very easy to make a car look very good, the buyer gets thier heart set on it, but underneath its a basket case.

It's actually $50 (min cost if you want Turbo) but that's still a lot if you only get it for 1 channel!

truth be told id get value out of the documentary channels too.

but the real cost is much higher. i am quite productive, but i would veg more if i had more programs to watch.

    Amazon...

When I was receiving stuff from HP (Hewlett Packard) at work, we'd have a go at them about their over-sized packaging. Huge boxes for certificates for kit, that sort of thing.

It seems Amazon subscribe to the same policy. One 3.5" hard disk drive. Package size - 36 cm × 31 cm × 8 cm !!! (For comparison - the drive is 15cm x 10cm x 2.5cm.) Of course, this is then reflected as 'volumetric weight' (which works out to be 3x actual weight) in the on-shipping costs from MyUS (and NZPost YouShop, and all others), and they'll not repack because it is a single item. Shipping direct to NZ from Amazon in the US is not available.

And then, when it does finally get here, the NZPost (or whatever courier/carrier) won't deliver it because it's either too big to go in the post box, or because we're Rural Delivery and heaven forbid a courier should have to deliver to somewhere they're driving past anyway, so it'll be left in a depot somewhere instead, waiting for me to go and collect it in person.

So I get to pay more for less, extra $$$ for slower non-delivery!

    ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?

HP are very bad at this sort of thing.
One of my pet peeves with them is they ship every monitor they sell with its own stand. we are recycling upwards of 500 stands a week that are brand new out of the box and straight into the shredder to be recycled. and it all but the very latest models come in polystyrene.
(Yes i understand exceptions on a production line, and i understand they cost both cents to manufacture, and are worth cents to us)

a pity really, because HP is otherwise the best brand in new zealand, if the sheer amount of kit with their badge on the front is anything to go by.
