Thinking about heading to the scrutineering in Hamilton on the Saturday then driving down and spending the night in taupo. Not sire if I'll try and find/rent a trailer or just drive the car down or not...

there was an italian workshop i think it around massey uni somewhere i can't remember exactly it was 5 years since i lived there... Ohhh i remember there was a pizza hut on the corner of the road... so it had to be near newtownish area as i would look at it while waiting for pizza...

I was talking to a guy thats spend a fair bit on his evo at work and we got into the discussion of why my racecar would be beaten by his evo... He was very much of the opionion that because my car is a racecar = instantly faster than what it actually is... with answers like but it's a racecar... When you think about things like tyres, many sports cars are coming out with semi-slicks as road tyres. Racecar owners upgrade to higher spec model brakes... i.e. rx-7, evo, gtr, etc... I found it very intersting that his car is running basically motorsport spec shocks, brakes, mounts, bushes, and all it's really missing is the cage and stripped interior... But yet he was of the opinion that because my car is a racecar with it's koni shocks, single pot brakes, factory bushes, etc... it would be faster... How many other find that because it's a "racecar" the term itself instantly puts it into the fast bracket? Espically when you consider most racecars arn't actually all that fast compared to some of the road cars out there.

it's interesting they kept the factory bmw pedal with the hung brake... would make heel/toes harder...

Yawn mobiles? It really depends on what you want from a car... I call it the jermey clarkson syndrome... Everyone wants to be going sideways in clouds of smoke, because that what makes a car fun... my personal preferance is none of that... i'm not interested in burnouts, donuts, drag racing (unless top level stuff)... to me it's all about getting from a to b very very quickly... So what i consider a good car is very different than a drifter/clarkson type person. there are many fwd cars that will excel in the style of driving i like, and things like changing direction and ability to carry speed through a corner mean more to me than being able to do 700kph but 20kph through a corner... i take it you haven't pushed an above mentioned fwd car? Really comes down to what makes a drivers car??? It doesn't have to be fast, the best, or anything... just driving pleasure... they are trying to cater to a large varity of drivers... It would be interesting to see the scoring guide that they used. the fwd = crap handling mentality really needs to be changed... espically when you look at what the old super 2000 rally cars where doing on tarmac compared to the wrc cars at the time. i personally think clarkson is the WORST thing to happen to the automotive world in a long time... corner speed sorts the men from the boys, not straight line speed... Things i would be concerned with a new door would be the condition of the doors paint. If your going to have to get the door repainted anyways why not stick with what you know... cost of the new door vs cost of dent repair with either you will still need to blend the paint with the rest of the car if it needs painting.
