  4. whoa steady on ... can see where you are coming from but ... no
  5. sweet, so that's where I can get one, an E36. Learn something new everyday. still ... the car will need to be harvested and planted with european grain.
  6. haha that car has been ruined. where do i get myself an 1993 M40? haha!
  7. yeah thats the one, mental whangarei buggers
  8. didn't graeme get hit in the face up in whangarei by some dude in a hilux? that was f**ked up
  9. note - don't believe everything the media says. the retard in the toyota ... - A shouldn't have been tail gating the bmw in the first place - B should have slowed down and let the bmw go ahead she must have been going pretty quick to have lost control, and must have been tailgating (again) for her to not have enough time to react to a change in speed of the car infront. Something tells me she noobed out, hit the barrier and thought she'd put the blame on the other driver. All this said, if her story is true - the bmw should not have been such a twat about a seemingly minor annoyance. My 2c
  10. hoorah that E34 is awesome!
  11. ok i have done some testing, just using my feel for how the car is behaving and the onboard computer to calculate fuel consumption. So here is my conclusion (for 95 octane and upwards) for my car Gull - didn't touch the stuff Caltex Vortex 95 - the worst of the 95's (sh*t customer service) Shell V power 95 - the best of the 95's and the best value for money (good customer service & flybuys) Mobil 98 - 2nd best pump fuel you can buy, you still pay more for it though and the extra mileage does not outweigh the extra cost. (sh*t customer service, good supermarket) BP 98 - the best pump fuel you can buy performance wise but as above the increased mileage does not outweigh the higher cost - the increased performance does but my daily driver is not for performance - this fuel i use in my race car. (Average customer service & AA rewards) obviously differently tuned cars will prove different. So I go to shell mostly, i go to BP when i feel like i need to splash out for some better performance and toput gas in the race car and ... I sometimes go to mobil only because they are in convenient locations.
  12. Awesome an E12! and in orange, something makes me want it ...it looks to be in pretty good nik too with nice weaves. Will be interesting to see what it fetches and who buys it.
  13. some people deserve to be shot, whoever is responsible for that is one of those people, somebody give me a gun and a flight to lithuania. God help us

    e34 540i NZ new

I think you have the price in the right range, the car appears to be in very nice condition. When I was looking for my 540 if I'd come across this I would have bought it!
  15. Well it sounds like your diagnosis is a pretty good one. All bolts on flywheel and clutch torqued up properly? gearbox oil has been changed?
  16. strictly under 9,000 and in good condition.
  17. she really likes your car, but going from a 1.6 fwd mitsi to a rwd 2.7 ltr bmw isn't a great idea yeah? besides I want your car. Fuel economy is important here too. That red 328 looks good, is it an M3 or a 328? haha WTF?
  18. So My girlfriend had a small accident in her mitsi lancer, tripped the airbag sensor and long story short, her car has been written off. she is keen to give a bmw a go so here is he shopping criteria. under $9,000 E30 - must be manual 318, or 320. must be 4 door body must be in good condition Engine must be in reasonable running condition Will consider (fix up projects, if priced accordingly) E36 - manual or Auto must be 4 door 318, 320, 325 entire car must be in good condition, preferably as stock as possible Am also looking for tidy Japanese vehicles (sedans) Any leads would be great. Cheers for your help. Ollie
  19. Unfortunately i won't be there so you'll have to deal with Andrew without me.
  20. Bimmersport Meet - Thursday Night at the Albany Speights Alehouse, if chris or someone can pick you up on his way you could come along and meet a bunch of us, talk bmws etc...
  21. I Recommend Albany Tyreworx, Give Steve and the guys call, they will look after you. They have the latest camera alignment system.
  22. yes you MUST use new head bolts and a new head gasket. REPCO, SUPERCHEAP, TRADEPARTS, ETC should all stock torx socket sets - yellow pages will list other local tool stores. don't forget to buy a 1/2" to 3/8" reducer so you can use your 1/2" torque wrench with the 3/8" torx socket. read the manual properly, from memory you torque them up (in the correct order) then you do a half turn, then leave it for an hour (or some period of time) and then another half turn to finish them off.
  23. The site can be made to stretch to a certain percent of the screens width, however problems arise - not really when viewed on a large monitor but on a small one which a significant percentage of people still use. Having it constrained to this width means that there is no chance of the layout going skew and it keeps things consistent. I believe it is a good size that on any screen from 800px wide upwards makes for easy reading and an aesthetically pleasing layout. Have a look at other major news sites - the are all constrained to a width that fits inside approx an 800 x 600 resolution screen. Another key reason for the width being constrained is to make it easier to read, when reading a book have you ever skipped a line or re-read the same one? having text stretch far across the screen would increase the probability of this phenomenon. And images - the reason attached images display as thumbnails - increase page loading speed, remember NZ internet is still sloooow. Other images are scaled down to fit within the constraints of the website, they are plenty big enough and can be click on to be view at full scale if you like. I use a 22" wide screen and it doesn't bother me at all that the site is only in the middle, and it doesn't seem 'scrunched up', perhaps this is just a personal thing? I hope that has answered your question and hopefully explains everything. If you would like to convince me otherwise please feel free to PM me with examples of how you think it should look and suggestions etc. P.S. the other little bugs we need to fix such as emoticons will be tended to in due course, forgive us for these for now.
