  1. I came off a XR400 onto the CRF. I really was looking for a 250, but the 450 last a bit longer so I thought it would be a better second hand buy. i.e they haven't been rung out to keep up. XR400 was bullet proof and I have had XR250's as well. Awsome bikes. Cheap to maintain and they go all day. The CRF I bought had been very well looked after by a guy who had a lot of money, I maintain it very well and don't miss an oil change & filter ever. I clean the air filter religously. So it is a step up in the dollar value on the maintence side. I chew rear tires now as well. The biggest difference is the suspesion. Absolute night and day. The grunt is good fun, and you can loft over any dip or off the top of any hill you want, or on the flat for that matter. But the suspension. I can ride harder and for longer with the CRF. I used to feel like I had been beaten up after a days riding the XR. CRF I'm bloody tired, but I don't collapse on the couch when I get home now. Funnily enough though I have had the CRF now for the best part of 6 months and I'm only just starting to get back up to speed with my riding buds. Where as I could hang with them on the XR easily enough. But there is still a lot more potential. Quite a different riding style. If you don't want the hassel or the expense of a high maintence machine stick with the XR. For me though, so worth it. One of the quickest ways to get a sustained adrenilen rush I know of. Apologies for the spelling (no spell check)
  2. A little off what everyone else is into, I've got a, 2005 CRF450X I stick to the dirt, Trail Rides. Last decent ride was Desert Storm last month. Fasntastic two day trial ride. I just wish I had more time to do more of it.
  3. I have done a bit of searching and from what I can gather: I have an OBC that does pull up light faults so I should use an adaptor. I realise though if I splice into the harness before the voltage measuring thingy, it wont effect this. But this means runing the wires to under the dash board. Sounds like it would be a lot easier to use the adaptor. I haven't as yet found where to wire the adaptor in how ever, is it self explainatary once you have the adaptor? I sometimes get stuck having to pull a trailer with the BM, and not the pajero so it would be good if I could get the lights hooked up. It alraedy has a tow bar. Your feed back is appreciated.
  4. When I repaired the climate control on mine, the hardest bit was getting the OBC out as well! Took me quite some time. The wiring loom to it was so short it didn't fully pop out. Well done!
  5. What are the symptoms? I replaced the capitor on the board in it and mine has been fine ever since. E36 Mine just used to turn off when ever it felt like it, but would still pump air out. Cost of capcitor was a couple of dollars from dick smith. Do a search on the net there are lots of right ups. The hardest bit for me was getting the Trip Comp. out. Rich.
  6. Looks Great! What colour is that exactly? I like it. From the photo's it dosen't look like a straight black! Rich. EDIT: Actually looking at it again it probably is straight black?
  7. My car has sticker saying to after jump starting, turn the rear demister on, and the headlights on before disconnecting. I presume this allows it not to suddenly go from a high to low load... Car is E36 328i Sounds like you might have damaged something. Rich.

    E36 Wheels

There were some hanging around trademe a few months back, they were passed in at $300 as I recall. I didn't have an E36 at the time so I let them go. They looked genuine, ie the //M badge on them. Keep looking.
  9. I've been lying awake at night thinking about that car as well!!! Enjoy! The yellow one on TM is asking a lot more. Have you been to see that one? Can you compare? Nice Buy!
  10. Thanks Simon, Grabbed one! Cheers, Rich.
  11. That is my old car that was damaged. I bought that off Aaron. The guy selling it got it off me for around $3200, he hasn't done many k's in it since I sold it to him. I paid 6 for it off Aaron and that was a god price at the time. I believe it would be worth about the same still. The only reason I sold it as I got a great deal out of the insurance Co, and it coincided with me getting a Company Car. It was the best I have driven, very tight and well serviced. Good luck to him, Kiwi535, this could be a good litmus test for you. EDIT: Spelling

    Welcome to 2008

    Welcome to 2008

Excellent forum and any amendments will be welcome! I just hope the few ignorant’s who sent unsolicited texts in the middle of the night do not undermine the overwhelming support for your forum Andrew. Rich.
  14. Good place to start if you have not already been there. e34net
  15. I do recal having a similar problem, I think it was a matter of flicking all the switches on and off a couple of times and it sorted it's self out. That worked for me anyway. Probably not a works in every case solution.
  16. I was put on to him by someone on here....any way I was tempted by his car, as he was in the throws of selling it. Looks like he obvoiusly hasn't. He was great to talk to and was more than willing to talk BMW's all day!!
  17. Looks like Brian's from Ashburton.
  18. Rev it right out! Keep it above 4000rpm and they hum! Yehaargh said he enjoyed driving mine with the 3.64 Diff. Dual mass Fly wheel is heavy and I think dampens the experience.....
  19. " i have, its sh*t " .. thanks for the feed back, I'll bin the idea of the RX65.
  20. They go for around $500. Any one used one or know anyone who has one. Any feed back appreciated.
  21. He missed a decimal point there. $550.00 more like it.
  22. "If you were start stopping for 100kms, how much gas in dollars would you spend? Any idea of what price yours would sell for now and say roughly in 6 months?" In my old car, the same as Kiwi535's I would get around 420k's on 60 - 65l give or take, around town. On the open road would get over 730k's on 65-70l. It has an 80l tank but I would fill up as soon as it got to orange, if not before. I noticed absolutely no difference between foot up it or nursing it around when it came to economy. So I had the jandle down most of the time. Depending on the on the price of gas, any where from $80 - $100+ for a fill. My 535is had 16 inch tyres and a relatively low speed diff, so was doing over 2500rpm at 100km/hr, so I would say you could do better than above with a higher speed diff. Good luck Rich.
