Awesome, great team effort there. Looking forward to seeing it tomorrow Cheers
  3. Umm..It's not like uber secret stuff. I have accounts with P/beaters and the like. Give me the name of a product you want, and I'll source it at trade for you. cept free is better. Too bloody right.
  4. Just take it to a BMW specialist, they'll sort it out easy. If you are near Central Auckland, take it to the BM Workshop on Great North Road, Grey Lynn. They are pretty good. Cheers
  5. 200,000 km's is not that much for an E30 engine (I assume that it is an E30). Also all of the problems tend to happen before the car gets to 150,000km's (shocks worn, leaking power steering, auto gearbox needing overhaul etc) therefore chances are all of these have been replaced. The six cylinder E30 engines are pretty strong units, and it should have plenty of life left in it still. If the body is pretty straight and rust free, then is should be fine. However as the car is getting on a bit, I'm sure issues will come up from time to time that will require attentiom, I think that you just have to be semi-prepared for that and not get too annoyed when this happens. Get someone to have a look over it (it sould be money well spent) and if it checks out ok, then by all means buy it. Cheers
  6. Both cheap and easy problems to fix. The gearbox will be leaking seals, they are cheap to get replaced. The coupling is also cheap to get fixed. My guess is that all up the cost will be around $300 - $400 for these two issues for a specialist to carry out the repairs. Don't use second hand parts for either of these. New parts are cheap, and these parts fail over time, second hand parts will just fail soon too. Good luck Cheers
  7. Cheers...but I don't mind paying for it (but I understand that what pro's use is sometimes 'unavailable' to the public). If you did manage to 'acquire' some stuff, I certainly wouldn't complain. Cheers

    Gumball Rally

Whilst the idea is kind of appealing, I would not have anything to do with the organisation in any way, shape or form. The come backs should something go wrong would be monumental. Keep speeding and stupid driving off the road, and on a track or other such safe environment. Cheers

    1971 3 csl (csi)

Paul Cook has two, the CSi pictured and a CSL he uses for racing (Targa etc).He said that spare parts are almost impossible to get hold of now, and that he has to swap parts from one car to the other to keep either of them going (i.e. he would not be able have both of them going at once). Cage, I think that you would be taking on a very expensive project here (not that I am trying to discourage you at all). Good luck. Cheers
  10. Hi The second hand Recaro seats I bought off Trade Me showed up today. They are in good nick, but the actual fabric could do with a good clean. What is the best stuff to use to clean the seat fabric? Andrew..is there any special stuff that Roverland use?? After that I just need to get them fitted, but that shouldn't be too much of a major. Cheers
  11. Yes I know...I am currently thinking that the $2k - 2.5k I save by not putting a link ecu in would be better used as part of my E30 M3 purchase. (but wait I'll probably change my mind next week). Cheers
  12. I agree, lets get as many people behind this as possible. This is about the last opportunity we have to keep some of the worlds best 'tin top' racing in New Zealand. Cheers
  13. Hi Does anyone have one lying around? Mike (Petone) what happened to the one out of the car that the gearbox I bought came from? Cheers
  14. No worries, Brook will be pleased to have them no longer messing up the garage (especially now that I also have a gearbox lying on the garage floor too).Cheers

    auckland v8's

As a person who lives in Auckland, I'd be rapt if Wellington gets the streetrace, I think that it would be an awesome place to hold it, and would give me a good reason to go to Wellington for a weekend. The old Nissan Mobil races in Wellington were always great, and the tight windy curcuit was good too. Cheers
  16. Insurance (third party) should be compulsory. It should form part of the annual registration fee, that would mean that everyone would be covered in incedents such as Pete's. However there will still be idiots who drive around in unregaistered cars...but there is bugger all anyone can do about that. Cheers
  17. So they should, anything in a car that distracts the driver while driving is stupid, and dangerous. My one and only accident (8 years ago) was caused by me playing with the stereo while driving and not paying attention to what was happening ahead of me. Manuals on the other hand are not distracting, as the driver does not have to avert their gaze from the road to use a manual transmission (if they do, then they should be forced to drive an auto). Anyone who eats while driving (especially a manual) almost deserves to have an accident. However even though I type this, I have used my cellphone while driving, a practice I am not proud of, and one I try not to do too often. Cheers

    850i on trademe

I can attest to this, having seen it first hand. Tim's chick pulling ability is quite amazing. If only he could bottle the ability, he'd be a very rich man.Cheers
  20. I have some stock facelift E30 320i springs you can have, if they will fit (not sure if they do or not), and get you through the warrant. Cheers

I just change mine a little less, maybe every 6 - 8,000km's. But if I'm lazy I'll wait till the SI lights tell me too (like now).Cheers

    Parts for sale

Hi Mike Cheers for the gearbox, got it home in one piece with only minimal leakage (I had plenty of paper under it, so didn't get it anywhere apart from that. Nice to meet you, sorry it was so brief, I was on a tight schedule. I'll clean it up, put in a short shift kit and eventually get it fitted (most likely early next year). Cheers
