  1. Yeah, I'm an avid reader too...but only really get a chance over the holidays. Bill Bryson is excellent, and always a great and amusing read. Cheers
  2. Thread locked. Got way off topic. Cheers
  3. Cain Chapman is looking at it at the moment. We were talking about it at the last car club meeting.I'll let you know of any further developments. Cheers.
  4. Why would you recommend a Hyundai over a Toyota? Toyota sell their previous generation technology to Hyundai. So you are saying that people should buy a car made with Toyota's previous technology ahead of a car made with their current technology? That makes sense!! Cheers
  5. Exactly, and mine is registered as a 320i.

the later 320i's are Motronic - there is very little difference (apart from displacement) between the two engines. My old blue one was Motronic. Carl's will be Motronic. Cheers

Both concerts will completely serve their purpose. They will both sell out, the promoter will be happy, the artists will be happy. Their holiday in NZ will be paid for...with a profit to boot. The fans who go will be happy, good concert in a good non-big stadium venue, where no-one is too far from the stage. Those that miss out....too bad, they should have saved their pennies, and made the trip, its not as though NZ is that big. You can drive to New Plymouth, or fly there pretty cheap from anywhere else in the country. Cheers

    Mark Knopfler

That's true, but it really does cut off alot of fans given the location and costs, neither venue is really an attractive offer for people given the location of N.P. and the date for ChCh. Just think who the target market is, I think that it is a great venue, and a coup for New Plymouth (as is REM and the WOMAD fesitval). The target market for Mark Knopfler would be people who grew up listening to Dire Straights (not just the Money for Nothing Era, but well before that). They would currently be 35 - 50 years old, and therefore have the financial means for a jaunt around the country to see a legend in concert. Therefore is it a great weekend jaunt from anywhere. Fly to New Plymouth, go to the concert, have a look around the Taranaki, and fly home again. Ditto with REM, but the target market is 30 - 40 year olds (myself included). Not only that the average REM fan in the target market would be reasonably educated and bright...and therefore have a reasonable job and have a reasonable diposable income, therefore again they will be willing to fly to New Plymouth, attend the concert, have a look around and then fly home. I'm sure both Knopfler and REM had a say in where they played, and as they have both been to NZ on a number of occassions chose where they are to play. Good on them for choosing places outside the norm, and giving Taranaki something special. Cheers

    E30 Bentley Manual

Yeah, but the procedure for doing almost anything is the same, and outlined in the manual brilliantly.Besides the M20 from the 320i and the 325i is almost identical. Cheers
  11. For those E30 Owners who don't have this.... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/M...on-21335716.htm Buy it, it is the E30 bible. Cheers

REM are playing in New Plymouth too at Easter, also New Plymouth is the site of this years WOMAD festival. So, don't discount it, it is similar I suppose to why musicians are starting to chose venues like wineries etc for there concerts. They are more low key with smaller more intimate crowds. I'm sure the days of playing in huge venues has worn off for Mark Knopfler by now, and he likes the more low key relaxed concerts. Cheers
  13. Gerry (the current Club Chairperson) did used to have a M325i (years ago), so if it was the same Club Chairman, then it is a genuine M325i.Cheers

We were in A Reserve seats (can't remember the section number), but we went in through gate 5 and were in row N. I guess we were about 1/3 of the way around from the front middle of the stage on the city side.It had a pretty decent view of the show. But in hindsight no matter what seats you got there would have been a good vantage point it was well set up, and everyone was close to the action. Cheers
  15. I think that the colour is horrible. I don't like the mags either. But then again that is just my opinion, if you like it go for it. Cheers

  17. Just learn to live with it. It seems that most of the 6 cylinder E30's develop this ticking noise. Mine has had it for 5 years, I just ignore it, there is nothing wrong with my car, and it is not causing any harm to it. Cheers

We went on Saturday as well. It was amazing, those performers are amazingly clever. I agree, well worth the price of the tickets. Cheers

The 924 was designed and built by Porsche but was intended to be sold as a Volkswagen, but they rejected it, so Porsche badged it as their own and sold it.Cheers

I wouldn't discount them, I had a near new one for two days as a rental when on holiday. It was really good fun, and it had awesome handling. Cheers
  21. Our canvas top Jeep Wrangler is quite good fun. Cheers
  22. MikeThe GT Radials were fine when they were nearly new, but as soon as they were even partially worn, they had no grip, and in the wet were just downright dangerous. These were the GT Radial Champiro's. Maybe other types of GT Radials are better, but these were terrible. I replaced them with the Yoko A539's and the difference was amazing. They were hard wearing though, in fact when I took them off they still had a good 3 - 4 mm of tread, and I had them on the car for a good 3 years. Cheers
  23. Say no more, I once bought GT Radials when I was strapped for cash.....boy was that a bad decision... Cheers
  24. Fortunately I have better things to spend my money on than new tyres all of the time.Cheers
