  1. Thanks Michael. I will relish it. Andy, I'll PM you And Now, the gallery , it's on Imgur for ease --> http://imgur.com/a/pKZ2z#0 It even comes with the original booklet and leather brochure!
  2. The List 1. screen wipers- New wipers and unbent metal wiper, washers to be unblocked. 2. tyres- chinese tyres are alright but lack grip, may get these, once i know the brand of the tires http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=626780711 3. stone chips and scratches- will need sorting 4. hatch lamps brake lights do not work- brake light switch need looking at 5. cigarette lighter socket- not working? localised repair? will add this http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-626031368.htm 6. no cd player - thinking of this ---> http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-626355745.htm but computer may not match? :shrugs: 7. Engine and transmission oil changes- next service in a month or two. 8. Power- thinking of this ---> http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-...n-626366076.htm not sure how it would turn out, they promise fuel efficiency? 9. Start/stop button - for the lols. (not serious but seems cool)
  3. Phil, it's getting longer. The lighter socket is no longer working, but the fuse seems fine, it's probably a lose connection, but I will need more sockets anyway, for a FM transmitter (no retrofitting new sounds here) and a phone charger. am thinking of tapping that power source from the glove box lamp, will see how that turns out. Will probably create a list on the Showroom thread?
  4. So, after losing the wipers on the drive back, I have had to replace the wiper stalks and rubbers.... all round. I am interested in getting some larger rims for the car, 15" rims are a little wallowy, even at recommended pressure (holy sh*t its high rears 3 bar and 2.5 bar at front). I used to have e39 stock rims in my old e34, but I'd rather not go the hubcentric route this time.
  5. Yeah, I will be going through all the possibilities over the next few weeks and make them work. I am still super excited about the car though
  6. Hey Folks, collected the car today. It was mint (sans the hatch which is a teenager not talking to the parents in the main computer). Just a single pic for now. more to come later.
  7. oh hey, I collected it .... and I guess the rear hatch wiring loom gave out within two hours of changing hands. I am not joking, the rear hatch lights were working when I was testing it out with the owner; and then when we are driving back to AKL ... BAM! the rain comes and SH2's bumpiness must have caused something to wear out.... and the front screen wipers came loose. So the tail lamp warning and rear brake light warnings come on the dial when i hit the brakes for the first time and stay on. It has chinese tires on.... wobbly as. Headlining sags, no biggie though as it doesn't intrude in. on the bright side, the driving is awesome... the ZF is responsive, the SLS system is a year old. alloys have little to no curbing, engine sounds sweet, all electronics work, even the pop up rear window washer.
  8. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-627145599.htm Gorgeous in black and how about those wobbly rear towers, eh?
  9. all these 540i 's running around... teasing me... Here's to you Phil, for a gobsmackingly beautiful 540i.
  10. Classics. Aside from the usual postwar English cars? Most of them can be deemed classics ... even the horrible Morris Marina, because one way or another they have intrinsic value. Classics are what they are because of the emotion they stir up. I do think the E34 will become a classic. from the lowly 518i to the might 540iS. The E36 may not, because it is frankly, a pig next to the E30, but I will be glad to be proven wrong. Even the Volvo 24x(especially the 245) will become a classic, heck it is one now. I'd love to wheel around in a 242GT but I'm afraid they are such stupid money now... nothing like hurtling a brick through an apex.
  11. still importable under the SIV rules. thread is somewhere found it ... http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....showtopic=44051
  12. Och vey! Funny how things work out, eh? when you want one, there are none... and when you get one, three turn up. (now where's the third one, woe on me if it turns out to be a 525iX) Good Luck with the sale sir.
  13. So. I won it. I hope to pick it up next weekend. let's see how things go.
  14. So I went to the park n sell yard in Manukau to have a look a this rather nice looking E90 Touring.... And then, as I was talking to the sales guy, he gets a phone call and tells me the price had gone up from 18k to 20k. And then he proceeded to walk out to the car with me trailing behind and he changed the number on the windscreen. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-624388167.htm amusing innit? The car is lovely, unfortunately, it's rather tight for my build.
  15. HAH! got the VIN off the owner, WBAHJ62020GD13364. 4spd ZF .... would it take the later 5 spd auto zf?
  16. Put a bid in, asked a few questions. Here's hoping it comes through. It will be a trying few weeks.
  17. I have seen a 518i .. .ex UK touring. poor M40 engine....
  18. How poorly is the fuel consumption compared to a standard 525iA? The Riced 528 e34 i had in S.E.Asia was horrendous, but that was probably due to the management being sh*t.
  19. Thanks Andy and Allan. Thought it may be a nice starter, the E61 can wait, as can the E39 touring.
  20. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=620499318 Is it worth paying 4k for such a beautiful example? anything to really watch out for?
  21. Thanks Kyu. there are some Japan import low-ish miles 141k kms 525i tourings around for 17-20 k... and they may take in my current car as a trade... so price isn't really an issue, just delaying the purchase towards summer.Do those have anything to look out for? the only other 530d i may be considering is a 200k km one but is a UK import, and that may have the miles issue on them. I suppose I ought to test that soon.
  22. Thanks for the feedback, Gentlemen. I am definitely grounded on the maintenance side, I am expecting 6 -7k bills for the mega miler in very unexpected forms. On the company car angle, I am definitely wary of that. I have given the seller my offer of 10k, he rejected it. Now I offered 12k, will see where that goes. Would probably do the E39 route anyway. Let's see how things go.
