Found a jewel at an awesome price
lord_jagganath replied to LsBeema's topic in New Member Introductions
Welcome Jason! .. So you got that one? haha! I had my eyes and heart set on that for my dad, but you got it before I could offer the chap! Congratulations and enjoy the ride! -
^ yes indeed ... but that does mean I'll be missing out on modifying it to a diesel

Avoid VTNZ in Chch. They are linked up with the nearby garages. Bloody worms. Find an independent. They are better. Rex Price was the guys I used, on Winston Ave up in Papanui, near the library.

Lovely colour though!

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/...n-637561406.htm As you know, the E24 was based on two cars, in the early cycle, the E12 and post 1982, for Europe, and assuming subsequently NZ as well, the car was based on the E28. this came in the form of a minute facelift. I am unable to ascertain if the model advertised is truly the "better" 6, though it certainly looks to be a beautiful example. on a side note, The E28 is an improvement on the E12, as the E39 is an improvement on the E34. F10 improves on the E60. I wonder how will the next revolution cycle look like.

After some experimenting and testing, found that radiator hose failed after 17 years of service. No lasting damage to engine. Bless the gods for Iron blocks. car started up first turn after flushing and refilling with anti corrosion. Bleeding bleeding bleeding... No gas at all! haha so no HG failure thank the gods. now I still need to get onto that heater core...

Brought the baby back to life. It lives!

... HEY It's my first car! doing drifts with the 3spd auto and going sideways more often than it should... bent the car in a ditch 3 years after.. looks like someone brought it back to life and put a new front end on it.

They blew up in front of the BMW Racing director, Paul Rosche had mused. http://www.europeancarweb.com/lookback/epc...ul/viewall.html

The M10 block is legendary, becoming the F1 engine of the 80s Brabham team. In my opinion, slappin a turbo on it is perfect!
-
Looks gorgeous! pics of the engine bay please!
-
Love your Pug. NZ New seems to count from my observation.
-
Thanks Brent, I did the "blowing into the radiator cap" deal found on the E34.net site, but didn't help much. will do that.
-
Roll them up! they look amazing mate!

Bled the system, never have i seen so much air. New interesting symptom. Coolant dripping from dipstick and slight pressure pop when pulling out oil dipstick, oops. http://www.turners.co.nz/Damaged-Vehicles/.../530i/11145953/ into the E34?

Yeah, The AC system was tested by the previous owner last month.... not sure what came of it. Replaced the hose, and found that the engine sounds different. I hope it hasn't been cooked. Plus! There is no heat in the cabin, so i am assuming the heater core is blocked. There's some white smoke coming out of the exhaust with a little bit of water. ... but the engine oil seems to be free of water... Time to do a full cooling system flush and oils replacement. My main concern is finding a place to dispose of the waste fluids and oils. Secondly, where can I get a combustion gas testing kit?

Took out the hose, And the album is here ---> http://imgur.com/a/q4clD What are these deposits? Calcium? I find that strange, or it could be a stop leak product used in the past
-
Thanks Phil. The AA arrived an hour and a half later(after the first call) the response centre was twenty minutes a way ... but a wanker decided to leave his shift early, leaving no one at the centre. Getting down to diagnosing the issue. I do not think that the hose is the only issue.
-
I have no idea. oTL I suppose I will just have to wait for the morning and see what it holds for me.
-
no sooner than me talking about replacing a radiator or heater core , the car blows a hose and I am now some where near Middlemore, with an incapacitated car, an empty radiator and me waiting for aa to tow the car home. hahahhahaha

^ The FF was developed so you can drive a Ferrari in the rain...
-
^ only problem with that Andy, is the fact that 540i tourings are so damn rare. Just pondering at the moment.
-
squeezed the bimmersport sticker onto the rear hatch glass. yeah, in the rain. :banghead:

^ that would have been lance.... not sure if he would have wanted to sell the block. but an M52 eh? .... I am sure there are a few e39 528iS that are cheap enough to be stripped down to naught,

lord_jagganath replied to DaveO's topic in Want to buy
^^ wow. that is approaching E60 M5 prices.... wait , it is already more expensive than that. ^ The laws do not necessarily apply to SIV category cars http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/factshee...t-vehicles.html
