I'm in Chch and looking at moving to Auckland since my dream job is there. But wow, what a joke. You think Chch has a housing shortage? I need a house that my parter and I can afford and has at least a single garage to fit the E28 (would have to store the tools) …You'd be lucky to find a shoe box for less that $450. Such a shame.

I've done my whole engine in vht wrinkle paint and a couple of things needed to be done twice because of inconsistency. I found I got the best results by painting during a warm day and letting it dry properly before curing...also a rough surface seems better than a smooth surface. Also it really hates primer.

Make sure you insure it with a classic car insurer like swann, and I'd say 12k would be a good price. They may want proof of why its worth that much but they didn't ask me too Many questions. If you go with a standard insurer like state, tower etc they will depreciate the cars value each year and if you say anything about the 2.7 litre stoker they will freak out and not want to insure you...

I've seen them on e21s and e30s. Some e28s are sporting bbs fronts but I haven't seen side or rear skirts. The bbs front spoiler looks pretty similar to the zender on the e28s.

haha, the texture is because of the protective under seal though…a spray can of under seal plus paint would have done it.

haha good spotting, that's because the engine needs to be turned just a few degrees to the right in order for the pin to fall in. However it's happened to me to many times where I turn a top heavy engine and it falls very quickly 180 degrees.

Alrighty. After I pulled the B28 engine out this is what has been done. Water blasted the engine bay so it's a lot more red and shiny... New fuel, power steering, coolant hoses. Old, hard and cracked. New and flexible (still need to replace the power steering pump return) Mark offered is assistance to paint things (he f*cking loves cleaning and painting) Battery tray was getting a little worse for wear, nothing serious but I thought sand back and paint would be a good idea. - sanded - sealed - painted Same with the front axle support cant really see but some surface rust showing cleaned up Removed transmission... a huge assortment of torx bolts... lets hope the Bentley Manual tells me where to put them If you know about these transmissions you'll spot that the supporting brackets for the steel plate are custom, which is most likely why my shifter always hit my centre console when in 2nd and 4th...OEM brackets are on their way as well as trans mounts and throw bearing. Clean(er)! M30B34 red dipstick (had to find something for Mark to do) All new V-Belts Aircon mount fitted, I pretty much had to re-tap the blocks threads since it never had aircon. The threads had corroded a bit. random creative shot. I still have the starter motor, exhaust and loom to fit. And I'm waiting on my order on transmission bits.

all depends on what seats they are. if they are houndstooth sport seats then yes, they are worth keeping.

Does the rpm drop badly when you steer the wheel back and forth while stationary? That could indicate a leak somewhere in the hydrolic system. My hydrolic servo unit was leaking quite badly between it and the brake master cylinder. Loosing presure causing a problem Brent? I remember if I slammed on the brake and held my foot down it would stall but if I slammed on the brakes and released my foot it wouldn't stall so I assume that's strain on the engine...trying to keep the pressure correct in the brake cylinder...and a leak meant it couldn't. I'm just taking a stab in the dark.

That's not a bad idea, I was thinking I could even use a smaller bolt rather than m6 since i have limited width to work. e.g m6 insert m4 bolt but yes i would have to be very careful. this is probably a last resort. its an m30 so 6 bolts in total, one of which is buggered. all bolts have to be torqued to 9 NM +/- 1NM so its still possible to fix (fingers crossed).

had exact same problem with the e28, annoying thing was i never figured out what i did to fix it. It kind of stopped eventually after I did all the things you've listed. Only thing I can think of that's not on your list is the throttle valve switch and fuel pressure regulator, I swapped mine out (had a spare engine luckily)
