  1. Really? are you going to ask about every bmw engine built? as every single person has already said, the engines will go for a very long time provided they are looked after. You can't expect any car to work for you day in and day out with just a oil service every 10 thousand k whether it be in a E30 or an E36. I saw a guy with an E28 M5 who owned it from new with over 400 miles on the clock and that's possible because he has obviously maintained it. Just find something you like get it checked, test drive it and buy it if you want. Ill tell you now though I bet you the engine will be the least of your worries
  2. they can be drilled as I found out when installing my engine.
  3. If only it was manual I'd take it.
  4. I usually ask more questions when looking at cars with 200k or less, purely because things that haven't been replaced in the early days will likely give out. A car that has reached 300k and is in that condition is a pretty good sign, especially an e36.

    M325i Valuation

Thread hijack....I'm pretty sure the topics been covered. Is this the first time you've mentioned the E30 on here since purchasing it? Also when are you getting it?

    M325i Valuation

For example my E28 is insured for 8k which is $305 per year. I will insure it for more very soon and all they need from me is photos. So my opinion is go for Swann hands down.

    M325i Valuation

I'd insure for 6-7k if you can. Howard, you can only insure with swann if it's not your main car, if it isn't then go to swann or get an agreed value with AA and find how much the premium is.
  9. I thought I'd give you guys the heads up that Repco has 4L Preston 50/50 mix coolant for $9.99 each. I grabbed a few since it's what I use in the E28. Usually about $26. No idea if it's a nation wide thing. http://prestone.com/enmx/node/410

    M30 AFMs

Well yea, they are the same engines bar the compression differences...that's why I took the pretty plastic cover off my e34 m30 and put it in the e28. There is a sh*t load of other parts that can be swapped between the two as well.
  11. What version is the V1? My V1 is 1.85, I always have it on "A" and have never had false alarms.
  12. they do but that's not enough for some obviously.
  13. I was being sarcastic. Not sure what tells anyone it's not genuine. 8000km per year till registered here in NZ isn't exactly a suspicious milage.
  14. Your cluster is obviously not genuine.
  15. Changed my oil 500kms after the rebuild. Tomorrow I'll change the lsd oil and that's all the lubes done and noted down for changing at the right intervals.

    E30 318is Turbo

All the Potential buyers eyes light up when they see this car and all the modifications and the condition of it and the cert and then they will see the power output and say. 154kw bro? That's gey bro my suby's got 170 stock bro... So I think you will have to wait to find a BMW enthusiast that likes the sound of a modified IS. My 2c
  17. Vht vinyl paint from repco or any auto paint store. Worked for my parcel tray and it doesn't affect the fabric at all.
  18. I already have few pics of his new car, seems like mark wants to keep it a mystery....mark you should have asked for more on trademe
  19. Happy Birthday Brent. Hope you had a sweet day.

    E28 535i Project

They were on the B34 from the beginning, they are made by Eagle and called the Eliminator series. They are all individual leads and are encased in a BMW leads holder which I assume you can only get second hand now, the one on my e34 is pretty much the same without the BMW logo. Yep, in the Riccarton area now, E34 is the daily. Never seen you, what car do you drive?

    E28 535i Project

It's complete! What a stressful day. I started it thinking I would have to add coolant and oil and be on my way. However by mid afternoon the engine wouldn't start because of an electrical issue. After trouble shooting using the Bentley manual it seemed more and more like my loom was the problem (I started having visions of my car gathering dust and never seeing asphalt again) But after almost giving up I swapped out the master relay and boom started first pop. We created quite an entertaining video that I will post sometime It desperately needs a tune, a repaint and a clean. Ill have a good sleep tonight.
