an e36 gearknob costs $40. plus looks heaps better and wont fall off. (will fit e30 selectors).

As you said that its only one side that is doing it. My guess would be that something is bent. As mike said, whats your alignment like. This would prob tell you that something is out.

the 3.5L is a good choice. If your looking for power then it is ONE way to go. You will need custom headers anyway if puting it in an e30. Going from a man325i to a auto335i. The term Autotragic turn's into Automagic. With the extra power you get from the extra 1L it dosent really matter that much. Esp when you want to power launch or linelock which is alot of fun. Alot more thought will have to go into diff ratios if you are running an open diff with a 3.5L and a 5spd behind it, i would consider stupid. but thats why you have a LSD put in.

i got a place to do it in. at the moment ths weekend is busy but the 8th is looking good. contear have you read the conversion thread yet?? do so if you havent. you will need a few parts before i will touch your car. By memory they are listed all there. Any you dont have PM and i will point you in the right direction.
