Hi, I would recommend Meguiar's scratch x it is designed for removing scratches from paint but I have had very good results using it on glass leaving the glass very polished and smooth and the water will beads up and blows off when it rains. Use a soft damp cloth and expect to be there a while. dont go anywhere near it with scotch brite, steel wool, or any heavy duty cutting compound Dave.

Thanks Nick, missed that (AE86) The ones I used to work on were the front wheel drive NZ new AE82 GT lift back and AE82 GT hatch back, superb cars with a real willing 4AGE engine. Dave.

Hi, Does anyone know if they are built buy Subaru or Toyota? From what I have read sound like they have Subaru engine, suspension and floor pan is from Impreza and injection is Toyota. Toyota are trying hard to link it with with the AE82 but I suspect the Subaru badge might be a higher value item for resale. Dave.

Hi, The responsibility is on the vehicle owners to maintain there vehicles within the WOF regulations, i.e. if they get a fine for bald tires or have an accident because of them and then have trouble with the insurance claim then it can be no surprise. The job of the WOF inspector is to check the vehicle meets a standard set out in the LTSA manual. One problem as I see it is with vehicle servicing or lack of it leading to poorly maintained vehicles on the road and it will be hard to change peoples mind set on this and I am not sure what the answer is. Modified suspension is one area where the low "volume certifiers" need to be reeled in with what they allow back on to the road. WOF is a good money spinner for garages if you are charging $40.00+ and doing three or more per hour it works out a good hourly rate, no surprise they don't want to change. As mentioned there is various standards of inspections most doing a good job and using common sense ie not trying to make a morris minor hand brakes pass on the testing station rollers, and then there are the odd one or two doing dodgy WOF these guys need to be reported in and have there authority pulled there practice is more unsafe than the vehicles they pass. I voted for yearly WOF inspections, this is with the hind sight of 18 years experience as an Automotive engineer. Dave.

Hi, It would be good to provide some details to go with your photos like of how you did it what parts you used and anything to look out for. Does the paddle shift and all the buttons work as they should?

Hi, Already had Supersprint front and rear system installed by p/o. I would cost a lot in freight to ship, a purchasing agent might be the best, buying it for you and arranging freight.

Hi, Nice looking and I really like that it has the sun roof. If it was mine I would be buying some original wheels but that is entirely your personal choice. All the best with the M. Dave.

Hi, Mine is a Fujitsu ducted system, performance in frosty conditions is average and if it is started up from scratch in a frosty morning with the inside fan set at high or medium it will frost up and go into default mode. I have heard that the mitsubishi Hyper core series are able to cope well in cold conditions but I have not researched that. Daikin has a good rep as well. I have had a look at your unit spec and see it is rated at 6.8kw and should heat a room of approx 7-8m square. http://www.airconnz.co.nz/Heat-Pumps-types...lculate__I.2076 Dave.

I would like to think getting the door unlocked on a BMW would deter most thieves. The average Japanese car is very easy to unlock and most have central locking with no security features so when access is gained all the doors can be opened. I might be wrong in this, on a BMW even if the window is smashed the central lock buttons can not be lifted up to unlock the door. Like all things there will be away around it but thankfully as a member alluded to, it is only the smart ones who know how to do it so that narrows it down a bit.

Hi, Most rental companies only service there car when they have to and at a price. I would be surprised it it has been serviced at the dealers. I nearly forgot to mention most rental companies which don't service there own vehicles have there own service plan which the garage have to follow it tells them what to do at the different service intervals. It includes times and items they will pay for and anything over this permission from the rental company is required prior to carrying on with the repair/service. The dealers might be expensive but a pre purchase inspection from them would be money well spent imhop. Dave.

Hi Guys, I require a single piece shift boot/ gear knob assembly for an E30 this is the golf T shape gear knob, condition of leather not important as I will have it recovered. The plastic retainer for attaching it to the console with no broken retainer clips also required. Please let me know what you have. Dave.

Hi, Been down this road with my M3 the fuel started to leak out from underneath the main tank once the aux tank had fuel in it. I took a bit to track it down, ended up the O ring between the in tank pump and top of the main tank had gone hard an the pump assembly was loose in the tank. Yours being later than mine may not have in tank pump but probably still have a similar arrangement with the fuel sender unit and pick up assembly. I have also heard the other common problem is the breather hose gets perished which connect to the top of the tank and goes through the chassi to the filler neck. Best way to diagnose is fill both tanks, jack it up remove the access cover from under the rear seat and have a good look around. They can be a bit tricky to fill and are quite sensitive to vehicle angle more so if the tank/car is hot, filling it up with cold fuel and a hot tank is best taken slowly at the last 1/4 of tank. Virtually every breather hose/pipe is fill of fuel when both tanks are full so if the fuel expands it flows out the filler neck. Dave.

Hi, Take a photo and show us what you have, usually requires drilling a hole in the broken bolt and using a easy out to remove it. Dave.

Hi, The usual method of separation of the crank case half's is once the fly wheel is removed from the crankshaft then remove the stator windings. A puller is secured into the threads that the stator screwed in to and pushes on the end of the crankshaft, an automotive crank shaft front pulley remover would do for this used with a selection of long bolts. Tighten the bolt on the end of the puller to apply sufficient to load but not enough to strip out the stator securing threads in the crank case, then if it hasn't moved heat up the area in the side of the crank case around the main crank bearing. It will move with heat and pressure best with more heat than pressure, an electrical heat gun is very good for this job. It is usually the slight interference fit of the crank bearings and the crank case combined with a small amount of corrosion between the bearing and case that will hold them tight. At assembly it might be necessary to heat the cases to install the main bearings. Dave.
