Got my new oil cap today. Started fitting the Racetech seats in the compact and battled with where to mount the seatbelt receiver. I’m too skinny for it to work going over the top into a e30 one, so tried to make the rear middle seat one work, but having to thread the belt through the side hole to click it in is a bit awkward. So is on the rear seat mount bolt currently till I can find a better/longer option for one to come through the hole.

Keep seeing a gaudy looking black E63 6 series on big gold wheels with matching gold window trims. Thought at-least it sounded good, until he decelerated and had a pop’n’bang tune straight out of a USA school.

Can we what!! Sex spec is back in fashion!! On the hunt for the chrome light set too!

10/60 was on sale at repco, so was good timing for an oil change on the m3. And after ten years of ownership have only just figured out I don’t need to get under the car to do them! Bmw think of everything. also noticed the oil cap seal is cooked, so ordered a flash e46 m3 one to smarten up under the bonnet. Also while robbing seatbelt stalks out of the e30 at my work yard, I had tools with me for a change, so put on the Protipo wheel I’ve had sitting on the seat for it for the last year, as well as had a play with the fibreglass tech2 kit I got for it 6 months ago, then realised it’s for a sedan, not a coupe. Uggghhh

Had a parcel delivered by Aramex today, expect it wasn’t for me, but for the house across the street and two up. I guess it’s easy to mix up 5 and 8. Rookies

Drivers window reg and front seat belt stalks shipped to dunedin?

That’s one hell of an offer! I’m also in need of an abs pump and module, which is that reason the car went off the road, if you’ll be parting out the rest of the car. I’m in no real rush with it, so could head down when ever really to do that.

So! After finishing renovating our kitchen, O finally got the garage emptied and cleaned out this morning and got the 530i in the garage. Whipped the rocker cover off and made a home made leakdown tester to find it all headed out the exhaust. Had a look and found a valve spring seat sitting in there, and the spring just flapping around, as well as the other exhaust cam follower flapping around. How likely am I to be able to replace the springs and be good to go? My guess is the valves and seats will be toasted. For the cost of a head off, new bolts, threads time-Certed, valves and seats etc it’s not going to be worth fixing and will probably part it out, not that I want to, but I only got it to get it back in the road and sell it on.

Possibly. Was weird when I first fired it up after 7 years it was running fine, went for a few small drives then went for one about 15-20kms then all of a sudden it dropped it. I would of thought it would of been like that from the start. was very oily on top of the piston

Spent the weekend on the 530 replacing ccv and it’s associated hoses, smoke test and reset the fault codes, and now only have a misfire in cylinder 6. Plug and coil were good, but did a compression test and is zero. God damn it!

Does an e36ti half-shaft slot into an e30 325i?
euroriffic replied to beemwr's topic in Brakes, Suspension & Steering
You can… but the ti inner cv doesn’t match the e30 diff output shaft, so will need to swap the diff outputs to suit. Not long put a e30 medium case into my compact and had to swap to e30 axles. -

You could try Casey at CNC automotive in behind the old Roslyn Mill. Probably your best bet -
Cheers. Will give it a smoke test in the weekend and try a mates maf

Repaired the lower bumper on the e39 and glued some broken bits back together to get the fog light back in and pointing in the right direction now. Brakes weren’t looking too flash so got the front rotors skimmed, cleaned all of them up and gave the calipers a paint ready for when the new wheels go on 😁 Cleaned up all the interior so is looking a lot nicer, and decided to take it for a drive… Was running like a dream for about 20mins then all of a sudden check engine light was on and was missing like MFer! Tried to nurse it home but by the time I got to the bottom of the big hill/mountain it could barely pull away from the intersection. So turned it around and ditched it at a mates. Had it scanned and only came up with activation map cooling and missfire in cylinders 2,4,5,6Plugs didn’t look too flash so got a new set but no Change. Same with another set of coils. Hmmmmmmm

Howdy, need a few bits to get this car back on the road. Late 2000’s build, 2001 registered facelift sedan. abs has fault 48:right rear valve failure. Assume this will be the module not the pump? So need a good working module to suit. and side mirrors are the bigger auto folding/Memory type, 14 wire. Need both heated mirror glasses, and the drivers inner frame as per pic. cheers

Got the newly acquired e39 running and driving again! After an oil change, radiator top up, replaced the seized fuel pump and new filter, drained the old fuel out and got some fresh stuff in it fired right up! Did find an air leak pretty quickly, but fixed that easily enough and took it for a test drive and runs like a dream. Gave it a good wash in the weekend to clean all the moss and spiders off and out of the door jams, and is in need of a good cut and polish. took it for a wof today, and just need to sort the abs issue, which is a code 48, faulty valve, rear right, brake shudder, which I’m guessing rotors need skimmed/replaced, broken side mirror to replace, and sort the fog light that points skywards due to an Ill fitted bumper trim. Not bad for sitting for 7 years! Needs a few other bits to tidy it up like dash cluster bulbs replaced, passenger mirror glass is all foggy, and was going to swap the stereo over for an android based one that looks almost identical to the old one, but has a heap of other features that will actually work, unlike the tv and navigation is currently has. Oh and maybe upgrade the 16s to something more exciting…

Acquired a 2001 530i a week ago that has been sitting for 7 years due to an abs fault that had never got round to being fixed. I thought old mate would of started the car every once in a while but no. Tried once about a year ago but to no avail. So have started down the rabbit hole into getting it going this weekend. First was to replace oil and filter. Was about half a litre of water came out first, and because the failed start a year ago, was water all through the oiling system and filter housing. I cleaned out all the gunk I could and put some oil into the filter housing to flush out what I could. After going through a few bits I tried to start it with no luck. After some digging found the fuel pump had seized. So have a new one on order and a fuel filter from fcp since it was cheap enough, and that should be here next week to give it another crack. I really only got it for the m54 if the rest wasn’t salvageable, and to put it in either the compact or the e30, but seems a waste to scrap the car with only 110k on it, and is a pretty tidy car, and my first 5 series, so would be nice to have one for a bit. But we’ll shall see what the abs issue is going to be
