As above looking for an untampered AFM for an m20b20 part number 0 280 202 083
-
Nothing worse than googling a problem and not seeing an answer so... Turns out it was the AFM, seems like someone thought they new better and adjusted the AFM, the spring tension was so far out that the flap wasn't even closing on its own. I have since adjusted it just based on the feel of the flap compared to another AFM I have (A PFL one) and it is running perfectly now. I still want to get an untampered one, so if anyone has one for a facelift m20b20 AFM let me know. Part number 0 280 202 083

I have recently picked up an E30 with the m20b20 motor with a manual box. I have a problem with the car bucking when its at low RPM it is very bad when cold and almost completely gone when warm. It happens when I take off from a stop, when i engine brake and when I go back on the throttle after coasting. I have replaced the distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs. I have checked the CPS, TPS, Coil, and blue temp plug, all seem to be fine. The car seems to be running rich based off the spark plugs. The car seems to pull fine once you get through the bucking. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

I have done some research in the past. This link should give you a feel of how much work is needed. http://www.e30zone.net/e30zonewiki/index.php/Engine_Swap_-_M42 The only problems really are the exhaust manifold and drive shaft and the wiring would take some more research, a lot of the m40 parts can be swapped over.

I assume you aren't on the BMW Facebook page. This is how it was described by the previous owner. "Think leather interior sold, has a 240 manual conversion done by Sam and rust has got the better of the panels since after I owned it ! Was a good car though think a bit of money been chucked at it since I had it" It looks like its priced well for what it is though.

http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/auction-907358051.htm "reliable car" what for the two weeks he has owned it? "mechanically sound" but may need new rear shocks and has no wof? I wonder if the head gasket is any good?

I had four wisdom teeth removed for about 1k, you get charged alot more if they put you to sleep but some dentist won't give you the awake option

Painted wing mirrors, turned out quite good, might do bumpers tomorrow.

I had very similar problems recently You can test that the car still starts by bridging pins 11 and 14 on the diagnostic port. Does your key still turn to the start position?. Your problem may just be the ignition switch which attaches to the back of the barrel. I had the same problem with my door locks, I just installed a Keyless entry kit that I got of trademe for about $40.

Hi, I am after a pair of 45mm struts for a e30. I thought i would try my luck before going new, maybe some of the race series guys when they swaped to Koni? Thanks
-
Turns out the ignition switch was the problem. The previous owner has installed the wrong type of switch which didn't clip onto the back of the barrel properly. They just used hot glue to attach it so when the interior got hot the switch just flexed.

Hi I have a problem when starting my m40 318i when it is hot outside. It only seems to happen if I park the car in direct sunlight on a hot day. All the lights will come on on the dash as normal but the car just wont crank. I can start the car using the diagnostic port so it appears that the battery and starter motor are fine. I am thinking it could be a problem with the ignition switch but I really have no idea. Thanks for any help
