They are 10J*17H2 e28 and the part number is 3611639 which I believe are B10 rears.
-
They are e28 which I would've thought was fine. Now I'm finding mixed reports with some people saying they are a straight bolt on to the saloon, with others saying it was an issue on tourings. Dont know if I want to grind the lip off like some have done, or run spacers. They are wide enough as it is.

I thought I would try one on the car this evening to see what they would look like (not that I don't know having had several sets over the years) but they are hard up against the rear trailing arm so I went to take it off but it's stuck fast. I've had this before on an e39 and a gentle tap with the spare swung between my legs did the trick but this isn't budging. I've drowned it in WD40, tapped it, wiggled it even kicked it, but nothing. Any suggestions ? As for the width, I always thought B10's used 10" rears and I researched plenty of sites which said they would fit the e34 with no problem, so why are they hard up against the trailing arm ? My concern was the 265 tyres not fitting under the arches as I have Bilstein and Eibach suspension but that seems a long way off at the moment. It doesn't have a tyre on either so it's not as if I can drive it to someone with a bigger hammer.

I've not seen any rings on them when I've removed them Paul.

New auction and new price. TradeMe

That's not an e39 offset is it ? Aren't they closer to 15-25 ?
-
Bump. Happy to negotiate if you think I'm asking too much, especially if you don't want the tyres.
-
Relisted with a price drop. I'm now looking to keep the tyres, so feel free to make an offer on the wheels alone. TradeMe
-
No thanks, I'm only interested in cash unless you have an e34 Alpina front lip.
-
They are 5x120 with the correct center-bore of 72.5mm but the offset is probably way off.

With 6 month old Falken ZE912's. All are kerbed (one more than the others) and have some marks and pitting on the lips, but with 2 inch wide dish it's to be expected. The center caps all lock to the wheel really well and are in good nick with good badges. I'm wanting $2000 inc the tyres, or $1400 without. Photo's show what they come up like after a good clean, but to be mint they need a refurb. I'm in Wellington but transport around the North Island can be arranged. They are 8.5Jx17 and ET13.

You might need to qualify this statement a little more. It maybe correct for those with screens but not for those without. I've just made an Aux cable for my 2001 530 for less than a dollar. Most items selling on TradeMe/Ebay just replace the cd changer. I used the same principle. I made my own plug using old wires from a cd-rom, soldered in a couple of caps and a resistor, then to a grounded female 3.5mm plug. The cd-rom plugs taped together fit the CD pins perfectly. If you have a post 2002 single slot CD in the front its quite likely you will get the Aux option without having to use the CD pins too.

Not wanting to spend $150 plus for a simple aux-in solution I made myself the cable shown in this thread. http://www.bimmerforums.co.uk/forum/f8/2002-e39-530d-aux-t76557/ I have a couple of units to try but none were fooled into thinking there was an aux-in option. So I tried the CD changer pins instead and everything worked really well. I cant select the next/previous track on the steering wheel but the volume works obviously and I can select everything from my phone anyway. After a while I noticed the smell we all fear so I pulled it apart and double checked everything. It turns out the resistor I was given was only 300 Ohm and not 300K Ohm so by my dodgy maths I was putting through twice what it could handle. It might also explain why the radio didnt think there was any aux-in but Im only guessing. Anyway, I'm going away for a few days so cant get the correct resistor but have also seen cables where they've simply hooked up audio left and right to a male 3.5mm so I tried that quickly and that also works but its not using the ground. Would that be a simple solution for now, or am I wasting my time ? I've always thought if there is a ground you should use it, but Im no sparky. So far the total cost is under a dollar for the caps and resistor, a dollar-something for the grounded female 3.5mm and for the wiring I'm using simply using an old cd-rom cable as the female blocks on them fit the radio pins perfectly. Cheers

Hi Paul, No, the e34 is going nowhere. I bought a 2001 530i to replace the Focus.
-
Mine wont cycle through the cd's when inserted and says 'NO DISCS' on the mid.
-
Thanks for that, I thought it would be relatively easy. Ebay here I come. With my e38, I bought it with a MID not showing the BC button and found I had very few options with the OBC but the moment I put a MID in with the BC buttons I could do all sorts of things. Im assuming its the same for the e39. I think I need to research a little more into the phone before going for the ULF. But it sounds like the way to go seeing as I have phone buttons all over the dash.
-
Anyone have one of these with a fully working display ? It might be easier to replace mine rather than repairing it and I want the BC option which mine doesn't have. What about a ULF module, assuming I'm pre-wired for the phone.
-
The MID display is knackered and before I buy a replacement I wondered if people have successfully DIY'd a fix. I've seen various success rates ranging from simply removing the ribbon cable, cleaning it and reinserting to full replacement of the ribbon and treating the contacts. I've fiddled with various computer bits over the years so am not worried about pulling it apart to try something, so has anyone attempted this and how did it go ? Having said that it doesn't have the BC button and I would like that to. It was a 5 minute swap of MID's in my e38, is it the same in the e39 ? It also appears to have everything for a phone install. There are all the buttons on the MID and steering wheel (including the pairing button), what appears to be a microphone in the a-pillar (which I would've thought should be in the roof by the rear view mirror - I have no sunroof) and an aerial on the rear window but no ULF module in the boot. Is it a simple plug and play install and connection is via bluetooth ?

Connecting CD Player to a BMW Cassette Player

Hans, do you need to have a CD changer? Adding an ipod/phone is easy if your e34 stereo is the standard NZ one with AUX IN. -
I'm after a facelift e39 touring and have up to $10k to spend. I might push it further if a well looked after X5 was about. I'd prefer a motorsport kitted one and prefer it to not be silver/white but will consider both. Kit and colour are less important than condition. I'm definitely not interested in poverty spec examples so no greens with cloth interior and no toys ! Milage doesnt really bother me as long as the history can back up any work on the car. I'm obvious watching TradeMe etc, but wondered if anyone had anything. I might even consider a saloon with folding rear seats.

Yes mate. The Focus wagon has been superb for us but we've outgrown it.
