    Yet Another E30

If you decide to remove the mudflaps I need a right rear
  2. Paul, Try searching the web for the code. You wont get the exact code but when I needed this for my Focus I found someone had written an application which gave you the security code when you entered the serial number. I think there was a BMW version as well but I cant remember with any certainty.
  3. Yeah mate, we used to do that often and its not cheap. One of the places in town is $40 a week but its outdoors and only surrounded by a fence. Thats not too bad as an option but Im hoping someone has an empty garage somewhere in exchange for some beers.
  4. Anyone have a spare spot in a garage for a month ? I want to keep a car off the side of the road whilst I cant drive it and would be willing to pay in beer rather than cash to a storage company. Must be secure or somewhere very quiet. Otherwise does anyone have any experience with any of the storage places around here ?
  5. What are peoples opinions on using bluetooth to play their music ? I have a Nexus One and currently have a cheap docking station powered by a ciggie lighter usb adapter hardwired in behind the center console. I plug a 3.5mm to RCA into the jack on the phone into the headunits aux in. It all works brilliantly except for having to plug the RCA into the phone when I get in and out. Ive just bought an official Nexus docking station which has audio out with the idea I should just be able to sit the phone in the dock now and job done. But even though the phone is in the dock it uses bluetooth to transfer the music from the phone to the dock and it sounds awful. Its quiet, there is sod all bass and it sounds like Im listening to music inside a tin can. So having never heard a system doing bluetooth transfer is this what it usually sounds like ? Im just trying the phone with a set of Koss PortaPros in the phone's jack and the dock's jack and it sounds even worse.. Any ideas/opinions ?
  6. HB Keith +1 on the advice thanks. The vogtland springs for the e39 touring were superb
  7. Ive just had major knee surgery and it might be sometime before I can drive a manual again which leaves my 318is sitting on the drive way with me not being able to get around. So I may be in the market for a decent sized car as a daily for a month or two. I dont mind old, I dont mind a less than brilliant condition. But it has to be as cheap as possible so I either dont lose much, if anything, when I sell or its very cheap should I keep it Im 6'5 so it needs to be a decent size for me to be able to get in and out of as easily as possible. Thats probably going to be my biggest problem in fact, getting in and out of the car without straining the knee. Im keen for a summer cruiser which could be easily spiced up with a drop and a nice set of wheels should I decide to keep it. Absolutely must have a wof or be in a condition to get a new one, Im in no state to even clean a car let alone do any work on one. What have you got ? [edit] looking at anything 2k and under now, 1k was probably a little ridiculous seeing what e32's appear to still be going for now.

    e30 318is

The car has been absolutely faultless in the 12 months Ive owned it, but Im being tempted by something else. NZ new. 245000 kms. On mint 15" weaves with matching set of Nankang NS2's with lots of tread. Four mint caps with two mint spares. Genuine 'is' front lip. Genuine tech I rear wing (also have the original colour coded 'is' rear lip). Genuine tech II steering wheel. Clear fronts and sides (have original orange too if you want standard). Ipod cable into the factory stereo with USB charger all hidden behind the center console. Absolutely mint interior apart from the usual dash crack. Some rust bubbling though on the leading edge of the bonnet (have a rust free spare which needs painting) Two small dings in drivers door. Front valence needs rust removal and painting again. Clear coat on rear quarter is 'hazed'. IMO a grand of body/paint work would make this one of (if not the) mintest 318is's in the country. Ive driven 316's, 318's and 325's and none of them come close to how well this car drives and handles. Im looking for offers over $7k. PM me if you're genuinely interested. Im not going to sell this car sight unseen unless I know who you are or you are recommended by someone I trust. Photos.... Crap interior shot but its the only one I have at the moment
  10. Cant argue with any of that Carl, sorry to hear about your cousin.
  11. Both of those cars are massively over-priced.
  12. Exactly,Ive seen several change hands for $15k and under. Suggesting 25k-30k is laughable, for that money you would be looking at M5's.
  13. Id love to know where you got those figures from.
  14. If its the keyring I think it is, Ill take it Daniel. I might be keen on the tyres too depending on their size.
  15. HB fella. Thanks for all your help over the last couple of years.
  16. Start here and see where you end up. The Amercian voice is not that pleasant but its free and works very well.Goole maps [brut] What I meant was the updates are not automatic. In each country the service providers decide how soon any updates are done. VF in the UK for example have kept a couple of Android updates to themselves for a while before sending them out.
  17. Whilst this has is points, its not the whole story. There are already plenty of 'rumblings' regarding the fragmentation of Android and perhaps Google shouldve been a little more protective to keep the core more stable. Too many players being able to do too many different things means everyone goes running off in their own direction and eventually you wont be able to switch easily from one to another. You are also at the mercy of some of the service providers who determine which version of Android you can have on which phone. Witness phones in NZ currently on anything between 1.5 and 2.2. I picked the Nexus on the basis it is Google's development phone and in theory it should get the new versions of Android before anyone else. Whether I get to see Gingerbread when its realised or not is still down to VF though I think. Ive just bought a Vodafone 845 to have a play with and whilst its way short of the top of the range. $200 with a $200 calling credit for a phone which has wifi, bluetooth, GPS, 3G, radio, a half decent camera and Android 2.1 its cracking value.
  18. Gimme a call if you want to talk about anything. Im no android fan boy but after looking into all the options a few months ago this was by far the best one for me. Half the price of an iphone with twice the capability. It all works straight out of the box, as does the iphone, but I can do so much more with this. Turn by turn navigation is free too I found the stock keyboard wasnt as easy as the iphones, but I then installed a keyboard similar to swipeIT and now I can 'slide' across the keyboard instead.
