  1. The car I'll be popping the manual 2.5 in. I'll eventually put the m52 in it too but with this gearbox I'll have a kooky gear stick. I don't like the spoiler on this but I've since realised it's a copy of a mtech one. It just looks out of place on a standard car with bottle caps. Best I get tearing this donor car apart! BTW I will likely have a m40 manual 318 coupe for sale soon... too many toys!
  2. As per title. I am looking to revert my uncerted steering rack mod in the e30 318 coupe as I may be selling it.
  3. Just bought e30 with extremely ugly spoiler (appropriate name) and some garks on boot. Though I might see what's out there (I am in chur chur so local probably better) .

  5. I'm definitely hearing you all. You are right, it's mostly because I want one. I've still got the slow burn m52 project in the garage but this will be moe immediate. I love my coupes and the 4 door is dead Reg and beyond saving (rust, rust, mostly stripped out interior, rust, Matt black shitty paint, rust). I was kind of eyeing up a coupe when I posted this and now I've bought it! It's a 320i auto . Pretty good and straight and dark grey. Ive attached a pic of the donor
  6. I'm definitely hearing you. I guess the benefit is that I have a complete donor. I was thinking a regd and wofd 320, 316 or 318 auto. I was was thinking 600 for cert but could be wrong
  7. Someone talk me out of this idea. I have a 325i manual 4 door in my driveway. Just got it cranked over and she's a real gem. I got to thinking I might buy an e30 2 door to put the gear in and get it cranking and certified but at what level are 2 door 325i sitting at to make it worth it? I guess I'd want to come in at around 4.5k total but a non original 325i 2 door may not be as desirable. The 4door already owes me $1400 and I guess I could move a few spares to offset it. Someone talk me out of this now!

  9. I have a second had one which I replaced as a matter of course when I was putting a new engine in. It looks in perfect nick but You'd be advised to get a brand new one wouldn't you?
  10. Yes, the e30 m40 and m20 crank sensors should show 500-600 ohms across two pins. Mine was open circuit. I Jerry rigged my known good one from my 318 and baboom! Note that the later sensors on m52 and m54 i think are hall effect sensors and don't show same readings as i tried testing these as a comparison and they read like a failed e30 vr sensor
  11. Well well, there you go then. It was the crank position sensor. Started up first pop and sounds good. Very happy. Going to put a steering wheel on it and take her for a spin. No need for computer now thank you.
  12. Hold the phone! Crank pos sensor is open circuit! That could be it! I'll get a replacement and see how i go. I'd still be interested to see if any computers are out there
  13. I have a late manual (yesss) 325i (yessss) parts car which I want to start and annoy my neighbours with before stripping it. The car turns over and I feel I have done all of the tests possible and I have narrowed it to the motronic 1.3 computer (grey label..173 ). it switches the main relay on but that's about it. no check engine light on dash and all of the same lights on dash light no matter if computer is connected or not. It won't perform the stomp test. it won't even switch the fuel pump relay. Looks like a bit of H2O may have leaked in to it at some point but the board looks perfect and in unaffected. In short, does anyone have a good computer I could buy or borrow to rule this out? I'll be selling a few parts off this soon too so don't hesitate to ask.

  17. I bought this to use the cassette in my changer and realised it's completely different. Then tried to install entire unit but size/plugs/mounts different. Over it. $20
  18. I'm in Christchurch and have bought and e30 I'm wrecking. Have just sold wheels and found that the nuts are spline nuts with 6 groves in them. Does anyone preferably local have a socket i could borrow?

  20. I just put some 68s on my E46 with some pilot sport 4 tyres. I keep going out and staring at my car. A great looking wheel. Of no help whatsoever to your sale sorry!

  24. For better or worse I've just bought an m50 intake, may not install it but it's an option... Does this make your computer a viable option for me now? Did you manage to see what radiator you are running? Also, out of interest, What changes did you need to do to your dash cluster. Does it all work out do i need to get a 325 one or something?
