  1. @SRacin boy you have been thorough! As I keep telling myself - only makes sense to be thorough if you keep the vehicle for a good while! Re the key I just ordered one from Winger BMW. Pricey? yes, but not as bad as some other brands apparently … @BrokeMyWallet - so that's a 2nd recent radiator replacement? And the usual plastic and rubber fails we have to expect. Did either of you get MBIs on your vehicles? SO glad I did on mine... as I'm not hands-on... Went for a Sunday jaunt in the X5 over in the Wairarapa with the BMW Club - most enjoyable!
  2. So @BrokeMyWallet and @SRacin how are your E53 X5s going a year later? This is what I'd done a year ago... repair ABS unit fix ABS pump bracket and pressure sensor (this was all due to the 'brake light trifecta') replace thermostat fix instrument cluster (dead pixels) replace radiator and hoses replace 2 x window regulators replace both rocker cover gaskets replace trans main oil seal replace both front lower brake reaction rod arms new key (they use a capacitor not batteries - and die eventually) plus regular servicing stuff including 2 large front tyres! And 15 months on have done these items (inc. 3 additional MBI claims)... Replace all discs, calipers and pads Replace 2 x front axle assemblies replace left lower suspension arm replace 1 x air shock replace valve cover gasket replace ABS ECU (failed after repair) Along with 8 new spark plugs and 2 rear tyres, along with some cosmetic: Fixed 2 kerbed wheels (Wheel Magician) Leather restoration on steering wheel, armrest, front seats (FibreNew) Pete
  3. Welcome to BimmerSport Eric! I think we'd all like to see a pic of you M3 Comp! Hope to see you join the BMW Car Club too... We're fortunate to have 2 great complementary communities!
  4. Welcome John - great looking vehicle and love the interior!!!
  5. +1 on that Ben! Fantastic vehicle. Very low kms too ... I didn't know any were sold new in NZ TBH. $5K for the CIC u/g - sheesh! Pics for posterity!
  6. Welcome to BimmerSport Hona!
  7. Awesome - congrats Julian!!! Enjoy Always nice to see a classic end up in good hands.
  8. Welcome to BimmerSport Martin! Looks like a beaut wagon FYI we have a very active community and branch of the BMW Car Club here in Welly. I'll tag you onto the 3 events we have coming up.
  9. Welcome Stephen and congrats on the 135i! MBIs/warranties are great but pre-existing conditions won't typically be covered so it will be best to get the dealer to sort it - including getting an independent check done by somebody who knows what they're doing. Be aware that for a lot of nav system changes from Japanese spec to NZ (say for E60) it is a mix of hardware and software. Not sure what it is for a 135i. Somebody like Eurosurgeon would know. Have tagged you on to a couple of local events.
  10. Welcome Boston - nice to meet you at the last pub night and congrats on the tidy E39! Sorry to hear about the Alfa - understand how gutted you must have been when that happened ?
  11. Out of the whole lot, which have you most enjoyed owning? (and it doesn't have to be a Bimmer)
  12. Many of us will look strange with age too
  13. Welcome Jimmy - great old tank Qube's 42s would be a good bet. Good active community in Welly....
  14. That's a great variety Hugo! Always interesting to see peoples' journeys and what they've enjoyed. Yes the air suspension on Mercs can be pricey - one of the reasons I chickened out of an E55.
  15. Hey James - congrats on your new vehicle and welcome to BimmerSport! Great community on here
