Cheers, was just googling about this and it looks like the stone problem is quite common for the E39. No low brake pad level indicator has appeared on the OBC yet tho.

Today I realised, the rear driver side wheel has started making a screeching sound (as if a stone is scratching something). The sound can only be heard if the windows are down and when driving at parking speeds. Looked at the wheel and brake area roughly and everything looks okay but I am no expert. Anyone had this problem before and know how to solve this?
