Hi there. Does anyone have one of these beasties kicking around? 18" Style 123 from an E60. Trying to replaced a cracked one. Cheers
-
Yeah they never painted them there, they just stamped it. Found this out when I started questioning them on whether had actually been touched after 2 "rebuilds" had failed, so he showed me stamps and the single weld.

Cant believe that 'A' drum! Was supposed to be the new improved strengthened 'A' drum that doesnt smash apart like the old ones....

Hey Adrian, I did have the cooler and lines done when I had the box and converter rebuilt as that was causing the problem all along and AAutomotive decided to rebuild instead of diagnosing the fault properly, not sure if it would fail in that short amount of time? Mind you didnt think the box would fail in such a short amount of time either. It was completely blocked when we pulled it out so replaced the whole thing, the lines and the radiator. This beast is going to be like new by the time you are finished with it! Good work

I hope its no major Adrian. Thats the third gearbox in that beast and millionth torque converter which both had been fully rebuilt so be suprising if it was internal. Keen to see what the issue is, hopfully just some bad connection somewhere in the line

Car is looking mint! Always loved that colour. Get a few K's in during the holidays? Be a bit odd if it is the centre drag link is knackered, I used genuine Lemforder drag link, tie rods and pitman arm when all the other suspension parts were done. Drag link alone cost me around $800. Be keen to see what it looks like when it comes off.
-
Damn that is a good amount of work gone into the beast, well done looks really good.
-
Be keen to see if those bushes are knackered, as they were supposed to be superior to the lemforder equivalent.
-
Damn that is a fine looking beast! Good job with all the works

Yeah you havn't even got half of my reciepts ?. Hopfully treats you well, its such an awsome car to drive and a stunner to look at. Does it still have that big sub in the boot?

I always wondered what that plate meant when I see it around

I'll buy the headlights =p

Unsure, but whatever it was was drawing between 900mA and 1.3A lol. He got the same figures as me after pulling out all the fuses for the phone, lights etc etc once the car had gone into sleep mode. I'll check tommmorow when I pick it up, but must be some modules or something that it kept on? He did mention something about centre console lights, I wasn't even aware there was any.

Massive piece of me died

Well turns out the GME is indeed faulty. Which is a bastard as thats the last solution I had come up with. I assumed they were going to plug in the tester and see if it was sending everything to sleep as I had discussed with them over the phone, but no. So 4 hours at $100 an hour of doing everything I had already done, they had confirmed it. Replacment ordered and on the way. I suppose the small bonus is he said I was bang on with my diagnosis hahaha sheeeeit. All ready for the new owner whom ever it may be lol

Cheers for that, but after hours of tearing my hair out, I gave up and have taken it in to the auto sparky today for them to sort out. After pulling every fuse in the glovebox, boot, aux fan and heater fan fuses, disconnected alternator and various other bits and pieces it was still drawing between 900mA and 1.3A all day yesterday. Will update when they find what the problem is.

Of course...Why did I not check that first? will peep out tonight and see if i can see some light coming from the exhaust

Hi guys Thought I'd put it in a new one, save sifting through the other thread. I thought I had it sussed but appears not. In a nut shell, have been having issues with with the E39 540i, battery draining over 3-4 days of sitting. In a nut shell, have replaced battery, alternator is charging 100%, FSU is disconnected, all radio fuses and display, phone, stacker etc all disconnected, heater panel physically disconnected, after market amp, auxillary fan, alternator, interior lighting, seats, mirrors, window switches all currently are disconnected or have the fuses pulled. I have been through and pulled every single fuse 1 by one which made no difference. The car goes to sleep (the little park light goes out), but there is something that is drawing just over 900mA and I cant for the life of me figure out what it is. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Onto it, that seems to be the issue. If I shut it off before turning the car off, its fine... trap for young players. Have purchased another car now so will be selling my one, and just take the panel off the price. Thanks heaps for the help! was doing my head in
