Dear Bimmersport members, Unfortunately, the time has come to sell my beloved 2012 F20 116i M-sport. This is my first European hatchback and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed driving it. I’m a little sad I’ve got to let it go (leaving New Zealand) so I hope it’ll go to someone on this forum who appreciates this car. I’ve put together a summary of what I think are good points of the car and what may need fixing. Please feel free to ask any questions or if you want to see more photos. I’m based in Westgate but usually go to St Lukes or Mt Eden on the weekends. The good: - Stage 1 ECU and gearbox update by EuroSurgeon - 4 new (bought in 2022) tyres: 225/40r18, 245/40r18 Dunlop Sport Maxx - Fixed condensation on both front headlights (re-sealed) - New Bosch front wipers - Tint (FM7, 35%) on both front and rear windows - Both fuel pumps replaced - Dash cam: 4K (front) and rear - All receipts for trips to the workshop in my nearly 3 years of ownership The not-so-good: - Ding (rear right top part of wheel arch), scratches (tyre rims, under front bumper, right door). - Rear right light (may need to re-seal to fix condensation issue.) Mileage: 103009km (This will go up as the car is my daily driver. Purchased at about 79000km) WOF and Rego: Jan 2025 1 key fob Asking price: $8500

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll try to dig deeper in the phone's bluetooth settings..

I don't remember when my phone OS updated but weirdly the phone still connects to other bluetooth devices just not my car. Also, I tried my work iPhone and that too did not play audio. Anyway, thanks for your feedback.

Hello there, I'd appreciate some advice on a Bluetooth audio problem I'm facing. Bluetooth audio suddenly stopped working properly a few weeks ago. Spotify, podcast apps all don't play but phone calls work. I use an android phone. I've tried: resetting the idrive, deleting then reconnecting the car in my phone Bluetooth menu, deleting my phone from the car Bluetooth menu, and yes I have checked volume control too. Tried to use my VIN to download a software update but the BMW website didn't recognise it. Any ideas for what else I can try? I'm just about to give up and buy a cable to plug into the aux port. Thank you very much for any advice you could provide.

Watching the F90 get smashed in MI7 made me wince.

Recommended independent service and repair West Auckland or North Shore

I go to Bellars in Rosedale. They're pretty good with communication about my car and usually have a loan car available for which you only pay for petrol. For somewhere closer to home, you could try M Tech Autos in Henderson. I've got no experience with them but they have a 5 star Google rating so I guess they must be doing something right Hope this helps. -
I'm no expert but maybe have a look at this website to estimate how much it costs. https://www.autoupgrades.co.nz/bmw-6-series-performance-tune.html I went to Eurosurgeon for stage 1. While I have no complaint about the service I received, they certainly charged more than these guys :p Hope this helps.

Is averaging 40-45 kph on a 50kph road in the early hours on a rainy day with poor visibility too slow? Some dude in a ute honked at me at a roundabout then proceeded to tailgate me for a few hundred metres, drove beside me on the meridian, then dipped his front end ahead of me before turning to bugger off. Too bad my dashcam wasn't working.

I paid $386 in total. Good luck with whichever option you choose.

Find a workshop that will remove the head light and dry them out and then seal the unit. I brought my car to Bellars several months ago to get rid of condensation for my front headlights. Thankfully, I didn't wait too long and suffered no electrical faults. However, one rear headlight now has that problem too 😂😭

WTF indeed though I have to applaud the rats' ingenuity and efficiency. Wanted to find out how fast they worked and found this. Hope it wasn't too much trouble getting rid of the corpse and stench.

This looks like a decent option. https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/m135i/listing/4065366424

My expression on approaching a passing lane on the way to Tauranga ... My expression when I accelerate and Waze informs me just after I've accelerated there is a speed trap ahead... Sneaky bastards...

Thanks for the advice. Even AirBNB isn't safe. I caught a user advertising a room at a commercial accommodation which he or she clearly didn't own. Didn't even bother to creatively use photos of the place to hide the fact and charged a higher price than what the legitimate business owner charges. I can't find that listing anymore which means it either got taken down or someone got suckered.

Budget accommodation prices don't seem so "budget" anymore..... Should've chosen another time to go on holiday.
-
Nice work. I gotta remember this the next time I fail to properly tiptoe around gum traps outside my car in a parking lot.

I've been here a few years now and I still don't understand NZ highways

Another forum member listed his 2012 F20 m135i in the 'for sale' section. Might be worth having a look.

Hey guys, For those of you who look under your car more often than I do (which is almost never 🙄), how worried should I be if a couple of screws are missing from under my front bumper? Also, should I do anything about it? I've got no way of knowing if they were ever there since I owned the car or if the guys who worked on my car forgot to put them back :p Thanks for any feedback and happy new year.

Found this on Moneyhub while looking up insurance comparisons. "low risk nature"? I don't recall becoming a bad driver or driving like a moron after switching to a European car 🙄 "Our guide to the cheapest cars to insure lists models which predominantly are compact in size, have small engines and are Japanese-made. The value of these cars (and the low risk nature of their drivers) makes them more attractive to insurers and therefore cheaper to insure."

Seeing this and reading about all the love this car gets make me feel like I should have gotten a 130i as my first BMW instead. Good luck on the tour!

Perhaps they're distracting us from the dream of being able to drive the distance of Auckland-Wellington in half the time it takes now. *sigh* Cheers from a wistful foreigner.

The dreaded "drivetrain" alert returns. *Sigh* At least this time the alert disappeared after restart and I'm going in for service anyway. I wonder how many of these alerts per year is normal.

People using the express lane at supermarkets even though they are very clearly over the item limit .
