    1 Series M

Hm, the original press for it claimed it was 35kg lighter than the 135i.Axis of Oversteer weighed one with a full tank at 1519kg. From what I can find, the 135i is 1529kg.

That, decent tyres, a bit of weight saving, better cooling, and the LSD from the M3. It'll be interesting to test drive one to compare it to the M3.

  4. I'm surprised it's legal to sell it without a cert.
  5. I'm in the silver gray coupe you can see in a couple of SpikeyLemon's pictures. His name escapes me right now, but I had a good chat to the owner of the titanium silver convertible. He was much quicker around the track than me!
  6. It might be worth bringing them in from overseas--have a look at TireRack for an idea of pricing. Shipping (air freight) for a set of four tyres is around $250.
  7. Good luck proving that in court.

    :)

Try both and let us know.
  9. Melbourne Red is also pretty tasty: (hideous wheels on this one, though)
  10. rFactor and LFS are becoming dated. rFactor's very dependent on the car/track pack you've got installed (the base cars and tracks aren't very accurate, and a lot of the user generated stuff is rubbish) and setting up various plugins like RealFeel correctly.iRacing sees major updates at least four times a year. Except for marbles, you're wrong about iRacing. The tracks have similar bumps to the real tracks, because the tracks are created by laser scanning at fairly high resolution. There's no AI, it's multiplayer only. There are plenty of changing factors, including tyre heat and wear, damage to the car's aero surfaces and suspension, weight distribution shifting as fuel is consumed, etc. If you try to drive each corner the same every time and you're driving at the limit, you will go off. It doesn't sound like you've played it much if at all. F1 2010 feels like a video game after driving the Williams FW31 in iRacing. What wheel and pedals are you using? That makes a huge difference.
  11. NFS: Shift is not even slightly realistic, not even compared to other PC games (e.g. iRacing, rFactor, Live for Speed). The tracks don't feel right compared to iRacing either, but I put most of that down to the unrealistic handling and weird FOV in Shift. Still, it's fairly fun when you don't want to play a serious sim... enough so that I'm keen to give Shift 2 a shot.
  12. Someone in a silver X5 bert stared me today on Boston Rd around lunchtime. If you're on here, hi!
  13. If you want something slower and heavier than an M3, they're the way to go. They have cam chains and iron rotors. Ceramic rotors are a bit of a gimmick, anyway.
  14. Yeah, 40-50% is what I've seen too. Doesn't make much sense that I can get tyres air freighted to NZ for cheaper than I can buy them locally when local suppliers are bulk shipping them in. Nor does it make that much sense that Euro cars retail new for 30-50% more here than I would pay importing one personally from the UK.I haven't ordered yet, but my numbers above did include a 5% duty, GST, and customs processing fees. Whether you get caught by customs seems to be random based on past experience, but I assumed I would in this case since there's an extra 5% duty involved. Might be more likely to get away with it if each tyre is shipped individually, but I haven't checked to see if it'd work out cheaper.
  15. Maybe not what you want to hear, but you could toss it out and replace it with an OEM dry one for ~$35. Cheaper than having to replace your MAF. AFAIK it's not the cleaning kits that damage the MAF, it's usually caused by over oiling after cleaning.
  16. Their website doesn't support it, but they do ship internationally. You need to email them for a quote. Google for "TireRack international shipping" for the details--it's not loading for me right now.I did forget to mention that, in their case, they only accept payment from credit cards issued by a bank with US branches, or Amex, or wire transfer. So that's a bit of a hassle.
  17. I looked into it but haven't done it yet. It seemed pretty cost effective to me. I wanted a set of Michelin PS2s and was quoted around $780/tyre for them locally (including "free" fitting), so $3120 all up. From TireRack in the US I got a quote for the same tyres air freighted to NZ for ~$1800 NZD (plus GST, duty, and customs fees, which looked to be another ~$400).
  18. The engine in the E46 M3 GTR made ~500hp from 4L 10 years ago... I doubt it'd be a problem for them.
  19. Presumably he wants to adjust the position of the mirror in curb mode. Now I'm curious if I can adjust mine... I never use the feature because the maximum tilt position is pretty useless. Will have a play later tonight.
