  1. The "carbon strut brace" looks an awful lot like the stock one. Front ride height looks a bit weird, might just be bad lighting.
  2. Probably best to start with explaining what you want the upgrade to achieve.
  3. Mainly to reduce tyre wear on the outer edge of the fronts. The adjustment I made only gives you maybe 0.5 degree each way, so it's hardly excessive negative camber. Ideally want toe to be zero on the front, I think. State of the suspension should be fine, the car has very low mileage and hasn't been tracked before I got it. Tyres are ContiSportContacts (OEM widths, 18"), and I was running them just under 40psi hot last time I was on a track. Switching to Michelin PS2s once the current tyres have worn out.
  4. Easier to make fun of someone than provide useful feedback, is it? I'm learning to track the car at open days when I can, it's not like this is going to make any difference on the street.
  5. http://www.nzta.govt.nz/resources/virm-in-...l-hubs-v4a1.pdf That covers most of it, but for allowable widths on the rim it's pretty vague. Edit: There was a post in this section with a list of allowable widths, but I can't find it right now.
  6. Factory settings are conservative. Same with toe. Fine if you like extra front tyre wear and less front grip.
  7. Got it sorted by Carl from Incar Automotive. Great job. Also learnt not to trust $75 torque wrenches from Bunnings, as it turns out they're total garbage.
  8. The current ones weigh the same as a similarly specified X5.
  9. 14 to 15L/100km in the M3 around the city. Haven't paid much attention to open road driving, but I think that's around 7-9L/100km.
  10. I'm not very experienced with DIY, but have been wanting to get my hands dirty. I thought I'd start with something simple, so I had a go at adjusting the front camber as described here: http://www.madrussian.net/m3/diy_camber.shtml Anyway, being a total idiot and not knowing how to use a torque wrench correctly, I've broken one of the bolts on the front strut hat (item 1 in http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...g=31&fg=10). I can order a replacement part, but I don't trust myself to install it (especially now!). Can anyone recommend a mobile mechanic in the Auckland Central area that would be happy to help with this sort of thing?
  11. What'd you use to generate the overlay on the video? It's pretty cool.
  12. Fingers crossed that my brake pads and SS lines arrive from Zeckhausen in time for this.
  13. Official specs from m-power.com: http://www.m-power.com/imageDispatcher.jsp...n_2232_3601.jpg http://www.m-power.com/imageDispatcher.jsp...n_2232_3603.jpg 1495kg for the coupe. At least it's lighter than my current car. Wouldn't mind test driving one when they're out. Sounds like US allocation of only 1000 units, so they're going to be awfully rare.
  14. Cracks in the rear subframe mounting points. Cracks in the front strut towers.
  15. Curious about what it'll weigh. I'd be seriously interested under 1350kg, but it sounds more like 1500kg+.

    Sad Day :(

    Sorry to hear that.
  17. Keen if I don't destroy my car at Taupo next week.
  18. Sorry to hear about your cousin. The attitude of a large number of motorists towards cyclists is unbelievably bad and very disappointing. Seeing a lot of the comments in the newspapers after this last week or so of cyclist horror has been really depressing. It's mindblowing visiting a city like Vancouver, where a huge number of people cycle, are well catered for in terms of traffic management and cycle parking, and are respected by other road users, then coming back home and seeing what it's like here.
  19. I'd be keen, depending on pricing.

    New M3 got a polish

Tristan, I'm pretty sure the one you're thinking of has the plate ZZJ. I see that M3 and another parked in front of Luscious in Parnell on my way to work most days.
  21. 95dB for vehicles registered before June 2008, 90dB otherwise. But that hardly matters, if you annoy a cop they can give you a ticket if they think it's too loud. You have to either prove it's an OEM exhaust or get an LVV cert for the modified exhaust at that point. And then they can try to ticket you again as they can claim you've modified it since you got the cert. I was looking at getting a nicer sounding back box for my car, but am coming to the conclusion that it might not be worth the potential future hassle.
