M52 is common but would be your best bet. Goes in easyier than the M30 and heaps lighter. Build a 3 liter m52.

A mate came over last night and we spent a lot of time last night positioning the engine so it was in the correct place and making sure everything would line up and it was level. Completed engine mounts that pete made, still need painting though: I completed the gearbox cross member today, I started off modifying the original E32 one but got pissed off with it and started from scratch. Engine sitting in its final resting place: Gear selector from E32 bolted straight in: Rain has turned up, so not keen to do much more on it until it clears up. Maybe I should finish up the front of the E30

Engine mounts completed.

Yeah, its a bit dodgy but some times it has to be done to get in those tight places.

Nice power for ten pounds. Who tuned it / what dyno?

Will be staying with the auto box for now and see how it holds up to abuse. The auto box has a removable bell housing so will have a manual adapted to fit if it gives any trouble.

Thursday Well, no pictures from yesterday because I forgot to take them, nothing interesting to see anyway. Today after work I dropped its new engine in the hole. Camera is craptastic in low light, will get better pictures tomorrow. Just sitting there for now, will line everything up properly tomorrow and start on finishing engine mounts. You could almost use the standard m70 mount arms if you swap them from one side to the other but the engine will sit quite high. I will build my own arms so the engine sits as low as possible. Believe it or not there is more room to work on the m70 in the e28 than the original m30.

Updated Op with pics from tuesday. Wednesday Didnt get a lot done today with the rain and had tech this afternoon so I quickly took to all the brackets in the engine bay that arent required anymore with the angle grinder. Will spend tomorrow afternoon tidying that up if weather is any good

Picked up this E28 on sunday from Marty and trailered it home. Sunday Got it home, put some gas and a battery in it and drove it around the block. Jacked it up and prepared to remove the engine, was ready for removal but getting a bit dark to continue. Monday Pulled the engine out, and removed other items that arent required. Removed air con, cruise control, power steering reservoir and hydraulic assisted brake stuff, still a few more things to remove. Tuesday I waterblasted and degreased the engine bay and under the car. I then started work on some new motor mounts.

Started building a removable radiator support a few weeks ago to make engine removal / installation much easier and also create more room for radiator and intercooler and fans etc. Started cutting the front off Mocking up the front grills and head lights

Had to test this engine out and make sure wiring was correct.

Is he still on here? Cant find his profile :/

After an E28 to do an engine swap in. Dosent matter if car is rough, not running or even dereged. Any cheap E28's / rolling bodys around?

195s? Do you even traction?

Coding plug is easy to change, on face lift models is at front of guage cluster behind trim panel.

Completely agree on the too far forward part, but it will stay where it is for now. Once it becomes a dedicated track car I'll think about moving it backwards.

Yep, capable of doing some damage. Dude at work had the 9 inch kick back and take a liking to his thigh. 60 stitches later.....

Well I will have to admit, I've never used the vw booster. Heard a lot of complaints about it though. When it comes to cert I doubt they will say anything about needing better brakes. You will need drive shaft hoop(s) though.

I see falcodores at dealerships / car yards with blacked out head lights all the time. What's the deal with that.

That honda hamilton ad on the radio.

What ever ecu you wanna use is up to you, you can make the EWS work if you have all the extra stuff that goes with it. Or get a EWS delete chip for it. Or just convert to ODB1, and get it remapped. The remap is not necessary though. Get the M52 tubular manifolds and modify them, its not actually that hard, not a lot needs changing. The standard 325 exhaust will flow fine for it, have used one before when doing a m50 swap on the cheap. If it was me I would build a whole new one, its not expensive if you do it your self. The last 3 m50 swaps I've done I've used double diaphram booster from an E32 / E34. Slot the holes on the bracket so it moves the booster down and across - leaves heaps of room between the manifold and booster. Use the 25mm master cylinder from the E32 / E34 as well, makes the E30's crappy brakes a lot better. I've always put a proportioning valve in for the rear brakes otherwise they tend to brake a bit hard in the rear when using the 25mm mc. Swap the pivot / linkage from the e30 booster to the e32 booster (e30 is shorter), and it lines right up with the extension bar under the dash. You can use the Vw golf booster, but its small and you end up with sh*t brakes.
