Turb or super 535?? what do i need to do?
topcat replied to rowanhol's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
its not difficult to for the overal cost to spiral. i imported 42lb injectors = $400 wastegate =375 turbo =1300 there's 2G already.budgeted of 7 and will be with in that number at this stage, if NOTHING goes wrong. touch wood. nearly finished lay out and install of intake/intercool setup.soon the headace of grafting a e34 loom into the e28 format. sum say why? its a whole lot tidyr.will post for all you nosy folks out there another way to keep prices down in thintake department is using exchaust bends. Or ask me for a price when you know what you need in the silican range. All sizes, shapes, reducers etc that can be imagined. Colours available-blue,red,black. i import from states. super cheap when compared with the likes of repco etc -
Turb or super 535?? what do i need to do?
topcat replied to rowanhol's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
2K is not going to get you far,but if you could source cheap parts and have friends in high places it can be done. so far i have spent a lot of dollars.even on the cheap or as cheap as poss. every thing i could do myself i did-engine rebuild, echaust manifold, fitting etc. one thing i have done is buy everything new. up to 5300 so far.now for the ecu. find your self a second job or sell off what you dont need.makes these projects much cheaper, or get a loan-not recommended.(i just bought in a turbo from states and sold it on to a guy who has taken out a small morgage to 'improve' his rx3) -

In my day does cut it, as far as I can see.. Do the crime, Do the time. No blaming society for the actions one person/persons does / did Dont let them out off prison before the term is up. and none of this paying off fines at $5 pre week cause "i cant afford it" folks who are licensed to drive should be held accountable for the privalage.or any other activity for that matter as for the guy who got killed-why did he get in the way?what was he doing there in the first place? what was the last thing going through his mind?'look two moons'? I'm shore they were racing chariots illegaly many moons ago i didnt pass 5 form english

my thinking is that this country is trying and is fast becoming a 'nanny-state'.one where the goverment runs and controls everything. If put in that light it sounds like a socialists dream. But then where are aunty Helens roots? doesnt help having a media that hypes everything out of proportion. kids will be kids.only things changed is the hp rating of cars.and at what price we can buy it.20+ yrs ago if you were to crack 100 mile/hour you had a grunty car.

and the verdict is..........? your input would and is appreciated.difficult to change the setup as i'm nearing ecu stage.but still appreciated

Being top mounted turbo manifolds I'm picking that they can also be used in the RHD cars. but i would ask to save on the egg factor. pics loaded up ok.??dont know any more on that. if you want pics of my beaten up e28 sporting new opional extras leave me your email
-
Pics would be helpfull wouldnt they. Nice work Mike, and a very tidy budget. The setup i'm running is 'make it as you go' and 'sh*t that looks good/bout right' system I dont see the need to spend more than nessecary to get the desired result.but i do admit that a cracked echaust manifold would put a dampner on my day.TCD $679us + postage make it 1000+ for us.I spent about 55- coby cut sum 6 flanges, bought sum reducers(50-40mm,65-50mm) and 2 elbos (40,75).bolted the flanges on a old head that was laying around.cut pipes to the appropriate sizes and started pasting.basicaly it looks like a an expanding pipe with the turbo sitting and the front of cylinder 1.I'm no expert on welding but ive run the car with every thing attached and dont have leaks or other unforseen issues. It does help having a small workshop at work. I'll post sum pics of progress at sum stage. sure i can show you how to weld, its not difficult

why spend large $$ when you can make or get one made up? shore the thing I made doesnt look the prettiest, but its working fine at this stage of the 3.5L turbo build. Also lookup 666fabrication.com for sum great looking bits that look and perform the part
-
car is complete so yeah its all there.its all available.milage is unknown at this stage, cant get the odo to light up. yes we have swaped bulbs etc. could check with the higher powers.

Bulletproofing an M50/Turbo
topcat replied to Surge's topic in Forced Induction & Performance Tuning
why bother with O rings? unless your running big boost.this is only my thinking I got a qaulity metal/graphit sandwich gasket from gaskets unlimited up in kumeu way.good work and made a replica of the standard seal.i had mine made 30% thicker to help bring down the compression -

as far as the guys in the US are concerned APR studs and a MLS gasket is all that required. dont know much bout the vanos. Realy depends on how much boost your aiming for. At the mo I am currently adding the same bits to my e28. rebuilt 3.5L with 9.0-10.0 comp. pistons, steel head gasket, rings and bearings. didnt go with the studs, just bought new head bolts.welded a elbo in front timing cover and fitted a high temp hose for oil drain made the exchaust manifold (its not pretty) and as of yesterday a new 2.5' exhaust has been fitted from turbo to the back as little tight in places but very tidy. Looking to add 10lbs then we'll see.... ECU's too many choices-i have no idea what to use myself.Have leanings to EMS as this has the largest tuning tables I have come across.sum 'tuners' just keep things rich throught the rev range cause the tables have too larger incrimints. But this is only what i've heard, please do not quote me on this. Check your oil pump, is up to the job? pressure losses when feeding the turbo at low revs larger fuel pump? bigger injectors or a RFPR? all I can all say is good luck and the best advice that was given to me was Big Power Good Reliability Low Cost-cheap Its not the black arts now pick 2 just do the research cheers martyn -
probably more like 5
-
dont realy want to split them up at this stage. but if it came down to it $6k
-
sorry forgot to mention, that car covers are also provided. extra parts to add to list; 2.8 and 3.5 cylinded heads go with this lot cheers marty

So after several weddings I need to let this idea go. Life has changed and I can no longer keep the cars or do weddings with them. It has been rather profitable but i guess we cant do all things. Three cars with matching paint jobs and matching wheels matching black leather interiors. All have cd/radios,electric arials, electric sunroofs, pwr every thing Cars are in 99% complete state and have been hired out at round the $200 per car for 2/5-3 hoursper event. If i got my licence and advertizesd could have charged more and had more work but such is life What could be eazier-sitting making money and not get dirty/sweaty etc. Whats needed for the last 1%?? one car need a good tune up another car has a drivers door that needs the locking solinoid a "tune" Lastly have small rust showing through on the body.minor.have matching paint left over. cars are mostly identical but for a few options; car 1 has been lowered and new billiys, manuel 5 speed and is 3.5 l block added new set of 17's with new tread car2 is a 2.8 4 speed auto, and is still classed as ambasy vehical so costs $55 for a full yrs rego, set of 17's with new tread car3 3.5 4 speed auto econo/sport switch, cruise control, have new 17's coming All autos have been serviced and checked out to be in good condition Have done all rust work to get WOF etc on all 3 To get these cars to this condition have 2 parts cars to go with these 3.Heaps of good trim electric seats/motors /switches.Cars are still complete so have abs units, diffs, driveshafts, ecus, relays, glass, dashs, panels etc enough parts to keep your investment on the road for many years and no need to fork out dollars to wreckers Have a figure in mind at this stage well below what it cost me over the last year so if someone out there wants to give it a go call Marty 021 438 735

got one of those.its out of a 735. you still need?? 021 438 735
