  1. So it seems that, legally - its not a problem. Its a grey area and it all depends on how picky some official can be? Surely, as long as they clearly show the vehicles registration numbers, they do what they are designed for?? They're certainly better than the cars with a towbar in front of the plate, so you can't actually read the whole thing - and there's plenty of those out there. I ordered mine yesterday and I'll just keep the old ones wrapped in a rag in my spare wheel bay, just in case. Thanks for all the input. Rog.
  2. That sort of thing is always a worry - the car is likely to be off the road for months if anything breaks.
  3. These people do GB as well: plates
  4. That's right, I'd read that b4, but couldn't find it in a hurry, so just copy/pasted the first one I found. Phenomenol power!!!!
  5. There was some discussion some time ago regarding the legality of Europlates bought from overseas. Has that been resolved? Is it legal (wof/insurance/police) or not? I'd like to Europlate my car, 'cos it just looks better to my eyes. (I'm old, they stand out better - ) Also, if legal, best prices from www.europlates.com ?
  6. Andrew - you suck!! Those are clean, clean clean! Love them! How about you drop round to my place and clean my baskets???
  7. Try this for a BMW 1.5 then: BMW engines entered Formula 1 in 1982. With the standard 4-cylinder 1.5-litre block featuring 16 valves, a turbocharger and intercooler operating at 2.8 bar, BMW's engineers under Paul Rosche achieve an engine output of 540bhp at 9500 rpm. Later versions of this engine produced over 800 horsepower.
  8. Yes it is - but they are still in cars & therefore a 'potential' distraction.
  9. I have a friend who used to own a tyre shop. The working girls almost always offered to pay with sex. He said sex didn't pay his bills and normally refused...
  10. Naturally, this will also lead to DVD/TV players in cars being illegal. Car stereos also - since we all know how much music affects our driving (true - it does).
  11. Bugger!! The trouble is, the law won't let you shoot the bastards.....

    New Car

Now that's just beautiful. IMO, those rims are perfect for the car. Don't go spoiling it by putting 19s on - that's just be not right! Best example I've ever seen, I think.
  13. That's a very nice car. Red owns black any day. However, I couldn't pay $40k for an old car....
  14. My wife rolled and wrote off her car changing a tape on the Desert Road. She was obviously distracted and was charged with careless driving (she crossed the centre line - she was upside down at the time, but apparently that counts), so yes, I'd say a 'distraction' rule is a good one. Of course there are many distractions and a fair amount of common sense would be required ... not sure if it would be applied fairly though. I have a couple of friends who are in the police. They say that if two cars are speeding and they can only nab one of them, it will always be the one which looks more like a boy racer, since they assume he's already broken the law before anyway. They also say if they're bored they'll pull over anyone wearing a hoodie or anyone sitting too low in a car, just to check them out. Anyone who thinks the law is applied fairly is living on some other plane than reality....

    21 today...

21??? Happy birthday indeed! You still have a few years of confidently knowing everything, before you slowly realise how little you do know - make the most of it. By the time you reach my age, you'll realise you know absolutely nothing at all
  16. .. and the lady you're with wants to take a leak but can't find anywhere? Well buy her one of these and be her friend for life.. lawns, walls, car doors, bridges etc - all become her friend... stand up to pee
  17. In the meantime, can we dob all the Ford and Holden guys for pretending that the term ' V8 supercar' refers to their car?? That's misrepresentation on the roads - very serious offence - well, I find it offensive, so it must be true!!
  18. Man, that sure open up a can of worms!! Make sure you notice whenever a politician drives past - get that number!!

    The Hate Thread

ME TOO! I hate driving to Taranaki, 'cos of all the bloody roadworks !!
  20. You're absolutely correct. I'm older and 'squeeze' the accelerator, he's younger and still 'stabs' it! Makes a big difference.
