  1. Hey guys

I need some help with speaker wiring in my 2001 E46 sedan. I purchased a set of "plug and play speakers" recently only to find out yesterday the wiring inside my front doors is different than expected, i.e. the tweeters are plugged into the mid bass drivers, rather than having their of specific wiring. this means, instead of just being able to plug the new gear in where the old gear was and go, i now need to add wiring and a cross over to the front doors.

Can anyone make any recommendations for a good quality cross over and / or somewhere in Hamilton to help with the wiring side of things. i want a super professional job done and have no experience with wiring personally and want someone i can trust to not bodge the job. Car currently has no rattles at all and i'd like to keep it that way :)

    Cheers in advance.

    Ben

  2. Awesome Amber-Leigh, very impressed :)

Bet you'll have a blast bringing it up to scratch, so to speak. Look forward to seeing it at future events, when i finally make it along to one - lol. Would love to see some interior shots too. Once your brain fade has subsided. good to see you also got your hands on a pop up shelter for the M :D

  3. Thanks.

Not sure clutch that came out was stuffed, didn't check? yes done by the best.. Im thinking maybe slave cylinder as this was replaced before me with brand new bmw parts.. Mm seems weird.

    Or flywheel.

This is not my issue though, is it? I sold the car in working order, he test drove it and it's taken a few weeks to become apparent.

Nope not your issue at all.

You are doing a good thing by asking around for help and possible direction to point him in. But i wouldn't take it any further than that. If he test drove it, and obviously paid for it then ownership of problems that have appeared since he took the car are his. He could have done any thing to the car in the last few weeks, clutch rising like a nana at the lights, burnouts with the boys on a Friday night etc.

Had a similar situation with Bike i sold once, guy saw 2 years worth of service history, test rode, etc etc. then rode it from Hamilton to Nelson, called me 2 weeks later, saying it wasn't running right and his "pro mechanic" has issues with it.

I had my mechanic call him to help him out with questions and stuff, but after a few conversations it was clear the guy had buyers remorse and was looking for an excuse to off load the bike and get a refund at the same time - again, he could have done anything to it in 2 weeks, so it's not my problem.

Would have been different if it was the next day or as he was taking the vehicle away. when buying second hand the responsibility is on the buyer to ensure all pre purchase checks are performed before the transaction is complete. Citizens Advice Bureau is good for advice in these matters too, if you need it.

    Good luck with the buyer!

  4. Depends on your definition of easy also if the wrecker would sell you the drivers seat on it's own for a reasonable price. Have just had the base and back outer panels replaced on the drivers seat of some M sport seats with material supplied cost me $130.00 odd. It requires some time ie remove the seat and various components but if you are willing to put in the effort then yes it can be done. Something like this

Cheers man, looks good, did you score the replacement material from a wrecker ?

That first pic looks exactly like the tear in my current seat.

  5. sorry to hijack the thread, but can the bottom covers of the suede seats be easily swapped out? My drivers M sport seat, manual adjust has a tear in it from wear on the side bolster, the rest of the seat is mint however so would be keen to get a new bottom cover only, unless of course a full suede manual seat is cheaper from wrecker etc.

  6. Hey guys, I went to the festival of motor racing Saturday at Hampton Downs. It was a great day with loads of cars from all manufacturers Including 3 Ferrari formula one cars and a locally built BMW M8 replica, the only other one is in a Museum in Germany

Check out my pics over on Flickr,

  7. hi guys, as some of you would have seen in the showroom, i recently updated my suspension to H&R sports springs with Koni yellow shocks.

the setup is great rides nice handles bumps well, except when going in driveways as of last week. the high side (the side to make contact with the curb last), pops when it makes contact with the driveway curb.

when the springs were installed, rubber sleeves were used over the coils to prevent noise from the progressive coils touching as some rubbing was felt on test drive. This was recommended by Keith at Stocks and my local BMW shop did the install so feel confident in this solution, is it possible the sleeves could have moved?

has anyone experienced this type of thing before, and could it be anything other than noisy springs? I had the shop check all the end links, sway bars and associated bushings when installing to make sure they were all ok.

    Thanks in advance

  8. Looks good! How much did those wheels set you back if you don't mind me asking?

Wheels were 900USD plus sea shipping via mainfreight, which i sorted out myself, by sea to ensure all the necessary customs work was taken care of to avoid unforeseen hold ups.

    Nice bro!

    What tyres are you rocking?

Tires are Nexen nfera su1, hadn't had much experience with these but they are well reviewed and I am very impressed with their grip, noise level and wet performance. Sizes are 255/35/18 and 225/40/18
